Golden Slipper revelation Doubtfilly has passed her first serious test this campaign as trainer Stuart Kendrick ponders spring carnival options.

Doubtfilly has pleased Kendrick with her progress since she scored a comfortable win in an 800m jump-out at Mackay last week.

“She’s come along really well since the jump-out which she won quite easily as you would expect,” Kendrick said.

“I plan to give her another jump-out here in a couple of weeks. Then she’ll spend a day or two in Brisbane to break up the float trip on the way to Sydney.”

Kendrick plans to launch Doubtfilly’s Sydney campaign in the Group Three Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m) at Warwick Farm on August 25.

The daughter of Not A Single Doubt will then proceed to the Group Two Furious Stakes (1400m) at the same track a fortnight later before her campaign reaches a crossroads.

“She’s been nominated for the Golden Rose which is a week after the Furious, or, if we decide to continue in the Princess Series she’ll go on to the Tea Rose and Flight Stakes,” Kendrick said.

A $17,500 yearling, Doubtfilly has won four of her eight starts and more than $500,000.

Her owners paid the $150,000 late entry to run in the $3.5 million Slipper in April and she gave her North Queensland cheer squad a moment to savour when she finished a creditable fourth, as a $91 outsider, to Pierro when ridden by Damien Oliver.

“It was a huge buzz for everyone involved with her and hopefully she can keep the ride going for us again this campaign,” Kendrick said.

“Damien will be offered the ride but it will depend on what commitments he has at the time.”

Winter carnival plans for Doubtfilly were scrapped to give the filly sufficient time to recover from her Slipper campaign.

“She had about six weeks off after the Slipper and she’s thickened up and is a bit stronger this time in,” Kendrick said.
