Bashboy headlines nominations for Sunday’s Grand National Steeplechase as trainer Cairon Maher strives for successive wins in the jumps feature.
Maher prepared Man Of Class to an upset win in the $250,000 Grand National Steeple (4500m) last year and comeback jumper Bashboy is likely to be a short-priced favourite on the back of his 12-length Crisp Steeplechase win on July 15.
Bashboy only returned to racing in May after two years on the sidelines.
Australian Steeplechase winner Megapixel, Great Southern Steeplechase winner Al Karam and Bashboy’s Thackeray Steeplechase-winning stablemate Regal Heir are also among the 15 nominations.
Grand National Hurdle winner Brungle Cry, meanwhile, headlines the entries for the $100,000 Houlahan Hurdle (3400m) which is the day’s other feature jumps event at Sandown.
The Robert Smerdon-trained four-year-old won the Grand National Hurdle (3900m) by eight lengths.
