King’s Rose has been scratched from Saturday’s Group One Epsom Handicap at Randwick.
The mare, considered a leading contender for the $500,000 feature, showed signs of tying up on Thursday morning before the decision was made to withdraw her from the event.
Prepared by Melbourne’s leading trainer Peter Moody, the former New Zealander is unbeaten in two Australian starts this preparation.
She won the Memsie Stakes first-up before taking out the Stocks Stakes at Moonee Valley three weeks ago.
The five-year-old was at $10 for the Epsom with Sincero the $4.40 favourite.
