Extreme heat forecast for Monday has prompted changes to race times and an early finish to the feature race meeting at Flemington.
The first race has been brought forward from 1.35pm to 11.50am with a 35 minute gap between races.
Victorian officials said the move was designed to alleviate any problems that could be caused by the predicted 40 degrees in Melbourne.
The Bagot Handicap (2800m) will be run at 1.35 followed by the feature sprint, the Standish Handicap at 2.10.
