Persistent heavy rain has forced the abandonment of the Group Two Victory Stakes meeting at Eagle Farm.
Racing Queensland chief steward Wade Birch inspected the waterlogged surface at 8.00am (AEST) before declaring the track unsafe for racing.
“The track has received around 50 millimetres of rain since it started last night about seven o’clock,” Birch said.
“There was a lot of surface water around the track but there was a bad section covered with water at the 1100 metres.”
The Victory Stakes was to see the turn of star Queensland sprinter Buffering who is preparing for the Brisbane winter carnival.
The Group Three Gunsynd Classic (1600m) was the other feature race on the program.
