The famed Flemington track will be rated dead for Saturday’s Victoria Derby and probably also for the Melbourne Cup.
The weather forecast may not be perfect but it hasn’t fazed Flemington racecourse manager Mick Goodie.
“Obviously the forecast isn’t what you’d like but the track will deal with that,” Goodie told reporters on Thursday.
“I think we’ll be in the dead range Saturday so that will be good.”
He said the track was currently rated a dead (4).
“I would hope to be in the dead range again on Tuesday,” Goodie said.
Rain is expected on Friday and to ease on Saturday, with showers on Monday and Tuesday.
“I think last year tested us all out, we got 80mm in one day and we got through, so I don’t think the weather gods will throw up anything that will concern us,” Goodie said.
