Western Australia’s star three year old, Playing God, has been heavily backed to win the Australian Guineas shortening from $17 to $13 at Sportingbet Australia.
The Neville Parnham trained colt was super impressive winning the Perth 3YO Magic Millions on Saturday and punters have backed her to take that form to the eastern states.
“We took one bet to win $40,000 at $17 and then laid him again heavily at $15 with two bets of $1000 and several smaller bets,†said Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan.
“He is clearly the pick of the Western Australian horses and he looks to be a genuine Guineas contender especially with the field falling away a little.
“We have seen Western Australian 3yo’s do very well in the past when they have come over so we certainly have to respect the money.â€
Sullivan said the other horse to come in for strong support was Dusty Star following his tough win in the Autumn Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday.
“Dusty Star did it at both ends on Saturday and we shortened him from $26 to $18 after that win but punters didn’t think it was enough,†Sullivan said.
“We laid bets to win $17,000 and $10,000 immediately and he is now into $12 following the withdrawal of Star Witness.â€
Anacheeva is the $7.50 Guineas favourite at Sportingbet ahead of Enjin Number Nine at $8.50 and Kiwi filly We Can Say it Now at $11.
