They will not meet again on the race track, but Pierro and All Too Hard are set to do battle in another race – at stud.
Online bookmaker sportsbet believes All Too Hard will have the edge when the star galloper starts stud duties. All Too Hard has been installed $1.35 favourite over Pierro ($3.15) to have the highest stud fee in their first seasons.
Coolmore is $2.50 favourite to be the stud where Pierro will stand, ahead of Arrowfield ($3.80) and Darley ($4.20).
“They will both be sensational sires and no doubt they are probably already booked to serve plenty of mares. But All Too Hard is a half-brother to Back Caviar, through their mother Helsinge, so there’s no doubt he deserves the top fee,” sportsbet.com.au’s Ben Hawes said.
While Pierro has retired, All Too Hard will take on More Joyous in Saturday’s All Aged Stakes at Randwick. Punters are finding it hard to decide on which horse to back with betting even, but More Joyous holds favouritism at $2.50 ahead of All Too Hard ($2.80).
Other notable betting moves across Saturday’s Randwick features include Kelinni firming from $3.80 into $3.60 in the Sydney Cup – a race where sportsbet.com.au will refund punters their bet if their selections runs second in the race – It’s A Dundeel easing from $1.25 to $1.33 in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes and Criterion tightening into $5.50 from $6.50 in the Champagne Stakes.
