According to punters with online bookmaker sportsbet, imported stayer Beaten Up is looming as the likely horse to topple stablemate Foreteller in the Doomben Cup.
The Chris Waller trained Beaten Up has been solidly backed to take out Saturday’s Group 1 and is the only runner to firm in betting in the last 24 hours.
Waller’s in-form Foreteller is an easing $4.00 second favourite, but weight of money has forced Beaten Up’s price to shorten from $11 into $9.00.
“It’s not surprising that punters have come for Beaten Up. Chris Waller does amazing things with the imported horses and by all reports this one is ready to fire,” sportsbet.com.au’s Ben Hawes said.
The Peter Moody trained Lights Of Heaven remains favourite at $3.80, but she has also eased from $3.60. Lamasery has also drifted, $7.50 out to $8.50, while the likes of Manighar and Hippopus have remained steady at $9.00.
Sportsbet.com.au will refund punters their bet on the Doomben Cup if their selection runs second in the race.
