Race 1. (13:00) Tcl Trophy Hcp (Bm70) 1700m
FINALLY 1 Grand Omaha (Bet Now: $SP.00) is placed to advantage. She has raced in Group company in both runs back from a spell and I thought last start in the Tristarc, she was far from disgraced. She won’t know herself in a Benchmark 70 and even with the weight, she is a clear top seed for me.
15 She’s Got The Cash (Bet Now: $13.00) is a Price/Kent trained mare that resumes. She is better suited over slightly further but has had three solid jumpouts for the return, telling me fitness isn’t an issue and she can run well fresh. Leading chance.
6 Illyivy (Bet Now: $21.00) steps up to 1700m after racing over 1400m on Sale Cup Day where she found a bog track and was far from disgraced despite never being a winning threat. The rise in trip I find interesting but does get B Shinn.
Race 2. (13:35) Sharp Eit Subzero Hcp (Bm90) 1400m
This is one of the stronger editions of the Subzero that I can remember. I am going to speck 2 Keitel (Bet Now: $23.00). He resumed over 1200m at Doomben a few weeks ago and worked home with real purpose from off speed when fourth to Restonica. Fitter, rising to 1400m, bigger track, good upside, he’ll only run well.
4 Getafix (Bet Now: $4.80) won the race last year and looks on track to run well again. He ran over 1400m at Randwick last start, getting badly held up and then was forced back inside to the worst ground, so a total forgive behind Cross Tasman. Tricky gate but J Mac clicks with him and he has class.
12 Spirit Of Wealth (Bet Now: $34.00) steps up to 1400m after resuming over 1100m on Geelong Cup Day where not much went right for her in the straight and it was an ugly watch behind Royal Rendezvous. 1400m is the query but maps to do no work.
Race 3. (14:10) Channel 9 Chester Manifold Stakes (L) 1600m
I am going to speck 10 Encap (Bet Now: $8.50). He is Encap…he’s an enigma, but he showed enough last start at Randwick, chasing strongly from off speed when a narrow second to Anthracite. He should love Flemington, room to move and launch late. Each way for me.
7 Enxuto (Bet Now: $8.50) was sneaky good in the Crystal Mile on Cox Plate Day behind Surfin Bird. He got a fair way out of his ground but didn’t mind the way he finished his race off in defeat. Gets good weight relief, can settle closer and be strong at the end.
8 Warmonger (Bet Now: $23.00) is a very interesting runner. Class stayer that resumes for Price/Kent, his last run being the 2025 Sydney Cup when down the track. Better suited over further but has jumped out well and has class on his side.
Race 4. (14:45) Inglis Bracelet (QC) 1600m
I think the class of the field comes to the fore here. 2 Sass Appeal (Bet Now: $1.90) is on the back up from the Empire Rose on Saturday and I thought was really good in defeat behind Lady Shenandoah. If there is petrol in the tank, she’s a clear top seed.
1 Fireball Miss (Bet Now: $9.00) steps up to the mile after resuming over 1400m at Caulfield in the Weekend Hussler. She got back in the run and did make up headway in a pretty good effort and return. Runs on the board, good upside and has class.
3 Cilacap (Bet Now: $14.00) is another that comes through the Empire Rose from the weekend. She landed off speed and seemingly had her chance but didn’t disgrace herself. Hit and miss but is a mare that is capable with her best.
Race 5. (15:20) Sigma Trophy Hcp (Bm90) 1800m
I really like 9 Perisher (Bet Now: $2.65) as a horse. Admittedly it’s a massive step up from the midweeks, but his win against the pattern first up…it was that of a Stakes class horse. He’ll make the grade in due time but I am confident he can put this lot away.
6 Nobler (Bet Now: $8.50) ran second to Perisher in the race mentioned above. He was another suited by the strong tempo and closed with purpose in a good return. If he can overcome the wide gate, he’s one of the leading contenders.
4 Roulette King (Bet Now: $11.00) was met with market support at odds when resuming in the Silver Eagle and just found them a bit sharp behind Apocalyptic. The rise to the mile looks ideal, good upside, kind map…I think he’ll run a positive race.
Race 6. (15:55) Cirka Melbourne Cup Carnival Country Fnl Hcp (Bm80) 1600m
13 Our Justify (Bet Now: $6.50) is a mare for Jerome Hunter that is heading in the right direction. She has been freshened up since Oct 4 when a sharp winner over the mile at Bendigo, sitting near the speed and got better as the race went on to score. Good test here, but a tick over jumpout was strong, she seems effective at the mile and maps ideally.
9 Sulek (Bet Now: $6.00) commands respect after a strong win on Geelong Cup Day, knuckling down with purpose late from off speed to get the job done. Racing like 1600m suits and with home track advantage, he commands respect.
10 Flying Mikki (Bet Now: $23.00) steps up to the mile after racing over 1400m on Sale Cup Day where he got back in the run and while he was never a winning threat, he was solid late in the piece. The rise to the mile, I think, suits, and any rain helps his cause.
Race 7. (16:30) Crown Red Roses Stakes (G3) 1100m
3 Sequinned (Bet Now: $1.95) commands respect after her spank job win at Caulfield. She sat wide no cover on speed but it mattered not to her, ambling to the front in the straight and was strong to the line. Tick over jumpout was strong and she seems to be getting better with racing.
16 Unwavering (Bet Now: $26.00) is a nice filly for Beggy that was a debut maiden winner at Kyneton. Did she beat much? Probably not, but she was impressive from on speed and had plenty in hand. Keen to see how she goes.
8 The Wildling (Bet Now: $126.00) comes here off the back of a maiden win at Scone. Not sure she beat a great deal but she was trucking before being clicked up and away she went to win and win well. Drawn the right part of the track, she’s in the mix.
Race 8. (17:10) Crown Oaks (G1) 2500m
The Wakeful has always been THE form race for the Oaks and I am going to side with 4 De Armas (Bet Now: $2.80) in what does look a clear two horse race. She was an impressive winner of the Wakeful, trucking into the race and was bolting before being clicked up by Shinn and away she went. I think 2500m is okay for her and is hard to beat.
1 Proxima Dea (Bet Now: $2.65) does look the most obvious. Unbeaten for David Payne, she was arrogant in the Spring Champion when beating the boys, with Stormy Marco franking the form in the Derby on Saturday. The query with her is 2500m…I am not 100% sold she will run it and she is a filly who doesn’t exactly put races away. She is a line finder though and beware the unbeaten horse.
6 Salann (Bet Now: $34.00) is on track. She ran third in the Vase where she got off speed and did seemingly have her chance but she kept chasing and finding the line in defeat behind True Rebel. 2500m looks ideal, back to Fillies grade…she’s dangerous.
Race 9. (17:50) G.H.Mumm Century Stakes (L) 1000m
4 Cavalry Girl (Bet Now: $2.30) seems the straight bat play in the get out. She is a beauty for Tom Dabernig that was sharp from the front in the Caulfield Sprint, leading throughout and gave nothing else a look in. Good racing style, lands on speed, genuine, proven down the straight…hard to beat.
3 Bev’s Nine (Bet Now: $5.50) ran third to Cavalry Girl in the race mentioned above. He landed near the speed and was there to threaten but just couldn’t quite get the win. Think he will like the straight course and has good upside to come.
14 I’m Foxing (Bet Now: $20.00) is a talented mare for Alex Rae that is being thrown in the deep end once again. She resumed in the Caulfield Sprint and despite sitting wide no cover on speed, she battled on really well in defeat. Maps to stalk the speed, she’s a knockout hope.
