9/4/2016 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Doomben

Doomben will once again have eight races and won this Saturday. The weather is overcast, the track is good (4) and the rail is out seven metres for the entire circuit.

Race One (12:18) : Queensland Electrical Handicap (85) 2220m:

Back Me: Keen here on 4 Punta Norte (Best Odds: $6.00). This gelding was 1400m to 2020m a fortnight back where he was given a lovely steer from Brooke Stower and for a few strides he looked the winner, but fitness and the distance leap just found him out. He is better off here, and no Off The Rails in the field, so I think he’ll win with natural upside.
Big Danger: 3 Walhaan (Best Odds: $2.70) was given a gun ride from Colless to win over 1800m at the Gold Coast a month back, sitting back in the run before charging home over the concluding stages to win narrowly but impressively. Distance increase will only be beneficial and he is fourth up here, so he has a stack of upside.
Roughie: 8 Caillebotte (Best Odds: $6.00) produced a brilliant finish to break his maiden status down under over 2190m at Ipswich. Admittedly he didn’t beat much, but you had to like the way he went about it and now that he has won, his confidence will be high and he can go right on with it.

Race Two (12:53) : SQS Haulage Handicap 1050m:

Back Me: 6 Nicconi Leggera (Best Odds: $3.40) showed electric speed when debuting over this track/distance a fortnight back to comfortably lead and he looked to travel well on speed. He gave a good kick when asked and though he tired late, the win was impressive. Just has to overcome the barrier to be the one to beat again.
Roughie: 7 Rare Occurrence (Best Odds: $8.00) is a talented filly for Stuart Kendrick who resumes. She resumed last time in behind Capitalist in the Magic Millions and was never in the race before backing up seven days later at the Sunny Coast when running a close up fourth to Love Spy. No trials, so watch the market and see if there is a push.
Big Danger: 10 Husson Boots (Best Odds: $31.00) debuted as an odds on pop at Ipswich a tick over three weeks back and on face value she was a bit disappointing in the straight. Trial leading in was very sharp and the blinkers go on immediately.

Race Three (13:28) : Lilivale Stud Endless Maize Handicap (85) 1200m:

Back Me: 5 Deconstructed (Best Odds: $3.00) is clearly the best horse in the race. Nothing went right for him last start here when a short priced elect, getting back in the run and not really getting clear behind Col ‘N’ Lil. Just needs a clear run and a chance to wind up to just about take care of this lot.
Big Danger: 3 Primal Flight (Best Odds: $4.40) resumes here for Gillian Heinrich. His form last time in wasn’t too bad at all, and he ended it on a winning note. Recent trial was encouraging and he can sprint well fresh.
Roughie: 2 Kudero (Best Odds: $7.00) is on the back up after racing here last Saturday in an open handicap where he finished down the track behind in form sprinter Casual Choice. He is hard to catch, but on his day, he can easily take care of these.

Race Four (14:07) : 125kg Grass Fed Dave Marriott Stakes Plate (Class 6) 1640m:

Back Me: 5 Reckless Abandon (Best Odds: $4.20) is putting together a tidy little record. He has strung together two wins on the bounce, the latest coming a fortnight back at this track/distance. No reason why he can’t make it three in succession.
Big Danger: 3 Heart Of A Warrior (Best Odds: $2.70) is a very consistent galloper for Tony Gollan who strung together two wins on the bounce before running a game second to Oak ‘N’ Arthur at this track/distance a fortnight back. This is a winnable race, he is hard fit and is in form.
Roughie: 6 Awesome Sight (Best Odds: $34.00) could be the knockout horse here. He ran over the mole last Sunday at the Sunny Coast and worked home strongly from the back behind Get On. Harder here, but he will carry no weight on his back and he will run the trip right out.

Race Five (14:47) : Adrenalinethoroughbreds.com.au Handicap 1050m:

Back Me: 1 Blueberry Hill (Best Odds: $5.50) is a very good filly that resumes for Liam Birchley. She hasn’t raced since Carnival time last year, which ended with a brave sixth to Press Statement in the J J Atkins (1600m). Recent Deagon trial was solid enough, draws a soft gate and gets the leading rider aboard. Watch for market moves.
Big Danger: 6 Jetsonic (Best Odds: $8.50) let down strongly to win first up at the Sunny Coast before running over 1200m here three weeks back when running a close up fifth to impressive winner and Stakes performer Big Tree. Has the race fitness on his side and draws a lovely gate.
Roughie: 11 All Troops (Best Odds: $17.00) resumed at the Sunny Coast and won in impressive fashion, bolting up by a space and running good time for the afternoon. Harder here, but there is a bit to like about him and he will do no work from the gate.

Race Six (15:27) : Secutor Securities Handicap 1350m:

Back Me: 3 Banda Spice (Best Odds: $8.00) is the interesting one here. She is a very good filly for Stuart Kendrick who can be a bit hit and miss at times, but she can sprint very well fresh and this isn’t a strong race.
Big Danger: 7 Rainbow Lace (Best Odds: $7.00) is an unbeaten Gold Coast filly that resumes here. She has been sparingly raced, but has won two from two. Recent trials have been encouraging and I’d watch the market for her and see if there is any push.
Roughie: 9 Kebede (Best Odds: $10.00) comes to town with her confidence sky high after two wins on the bounce, starting off with a Grafton maiden before taking care of them impressively at the Gold Coast. Hard to knock winning form and Matty Dunn knows when to bring them to town.

Race Seven (16:07) : QPOS Handicap 1350m:

Back Me: 1 Sir Moments (Best Odds: $3.40) ran a cracker first up at the Gold Coast behind Casual Choice before running here a fortnight back, and just forget he went around given he was last in the run and the pace was a crawl. He is much better than that and the pace here should be more genuine, so with normal luck, I think he can bounce back to the winners list.
Big Danger: 10 Chariot Of Gold (Best Odds: $8.00) rises in grade but could well be a sharp improver here at odds. He ran over this track/distance a couple of weeks ago and tried his heart out but just felt the pinch late when second to Tan Tat Diamond. Drops big time in weight, looks as though he’ll get a dream run on speed and is a knockout hope.
Roughie: 7 Kurtley (Best Odds: $21.00) pulled up lame after running down the track over 1800m at the Gold Coast. Looks the leader here and he will roll along. If he is left alone, he will make them pay, as we have seen in the past.

Race Eight (16:47) : Cardno Handicap (0MW) 1350m:

Back Me: 10 Elegant Composure (Best Odds: $2.60), though stepping up in grade, looks the way to go. He was just dominant when resuming with a convincing win on his home track at the Sunshine Coast, and won with a bit in reserve. Looks a very nice horse who could shape up during the Carnival.
Big Danger: 6 Rainbow Magic (Best Odds: $5.50) ran over this track/distance a fortnight back and stuck to his task very well when a close up fourth to Tan Tat Dimond. He is slowly getting back to peak fitness and should acquit himself well once again.
Roughie: 18 La Cigale (Best Odds: $19.00) is a handy type that returns to the city after running second to proven city performer Regular over 1400m at the Gold Coast after being well backed in betting. He will do no work from the gate and looks a genuine threat.
