VRC Kennedy Oaks 🏆: View the Field and Odds for the VRC Kennedy Oaks
Race 1. (12:40) Ottawa Stakes 1000m
7 Eneeza (Bet Now: $SP.00) will do me. Moody/Coleman trained filly that has been well educated it seems for start one with a prep in the latter part of the Winter. Given a break and has returned with a couple of jumpouts, the latest seeing her win at Pakenham and moved pretty well. Has the rail to guide her and has early speed to land near the front and be hard to run down.
4 Karavas (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks a pretty sharp filly for Team Jolly. Market said she was a good thing when debuting several weeks ago over 900m at Murray Bridge and #They got it spot on as she got the dream run near the speed and was too sharp late for Yes Yes Tess in a strong win. Clear room for improvement and up to 1000m, she’s hard to beat IMO.
5 Yes Yes Tess (Bet Now: $SP.00) will jump on the bunny and prove hard to run down. That is the case when debuting at Murray Bridge and she showed good grit late, only just getting run down near the peg by Karavas. She seemingly has the right racing pattern for this track and with the run under the belt, she should be better for the run and is a leading contender.
Race 2. (13:15) Tcl Trophy (Bm70) 1700m
5 City Of Lights (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks a really nice mare for Joe Pride. She will have always hype/boom on her given she is out of Vegas Showgirl, making her a close relation to Winx. Had no right to win on the Kenso last time given the interference she copped but she picked up and surged hard late to win. Off that, 1700m is ideal, and if she can get decent cover from the gate, she’ll be effective.
3 Fancify (Bet Now: $SP.00) has done little wrong this time in for Michael Hickmott. Dominant first up win over 1300m at Morphettville Parks before going to the course proper there several weeks ago when on speed and giving a strong kick but couldn’t quite see it through, run down late by Jenkins. I think with a more patient steer, a bunny to chase, she’ll be far more effective.
4 Brazen Lady (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a definite chance. This mare ran over 1400m on Geelong Cup Day…well, I say ran, but it was more like a barrier trial. She didn’t get clear air at any stage in the straight and she clearly should have been in the finish behind Jennipending. Unknown at 1700m but has home track advantage and maps to do no work.
Race 3. (13:50) Good Friday Appeal Trophy (Bm80) 2000m
To me, this is a race where you can have a throw at the stumps and I reckon the throw at the stumps is 12 Glitter N Gold (Bet Now: $SP.00) for Lindsey Smith. She resumed over the mile at The Valley where she was kept safe in betting at odds and tried hard but was just too far back. Did make ground without threatening when beaten four lengths by Farhh Flung. Better for the run under the belt, down in the weights, three wide cover and will be strong at the end.
7 Kettle Hill (Bet Now: $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be ready to go. He ran over 1700m at Caulfield several weeks ago and seemingly had his chance from off the speed, one paced in the run to the line behind Maktoob, who came out and won the Sale Cup, so the form reads well and he does have a liking for Flemington. Definite winning chance, but hard to back with confidence.
4 Foujita San (Bet Now: $SP.00) is racing well for Team Hawkes. He comes through the Coongy at Caulfield where he got too far back in the run and did make up solid headway without threatening behind Muramasa. The depth here is nowhere near as deep and he only has to be holding his form to be around the mark.
Race 4. (14:30) Inglis Bracelet 1600m
6 Climbing Star (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes back to Mares grade after racing against the boys in the Moonga at Caulfield where she was near the speed throughout and presented to win the race but couldn’t get there when second to the in form on speed animal, Buffalo River. Potentially a tricky gate, but I think if she can overcome it and settle handy, she’ll be around the mark.
2 Foxy Frida (Bet Now: $SP.00) is on the quick back up for Andrew Noblet after racing in the Empire Rose on Saturday where she was back in the ruck while Pride Of Jenni was off and gone, and she just couldn’t get involved behind the Maher/Eustace. The depth here is nowhere near as strong and she’ll be able to settle much closer. Hard to beat.
5 Glassey Miss (Bet Now: $SP.00) is worth a throw at the stumps at including. Symon Wilde trained mare that is second up after resuming on Horsham Cup Day where she got back and on a day where the track was up/in, forget she went around behind Red Phantom. Not a noted second up horse but should love the rise to the mile, has enormous upside and does bring okay form.
Race 5. (15:10) Century Stakes 1000m
2 Cannonball (Bet Now: $SP.00) on top for me. Team Snowden trained four year old that resumes after a failed stint in the UK in two runs at Royal Ascot. He’s come back, been given a good break and with strong trial work under the belt, proven big time sprinter, I think his best is better than these, and he’s a 1000m horse in a 1000m race which is gold.
1 Spacewalk (Bet Now: $SP.00) is on the back up for James Cummings after winning the Rising Fast on Saturday where he surged hard and did a remarkable job to win given he had to chase Najem Suhail throughout and kept finding, just getting the win. Back to 1000m I love, J Mac on I love…just not sure as to what petrol is left in the tank.
11 Key Largo (Bet Now: $SP.00) is capable. Bryce Heys trained gelding that comes here second up after resuming at Caulfield in the Schillaci when down the track in an on speed dominated affair behind gun mare Asfoora, who would be $1.50 against these. Drawn the right part of the track and he can produce a brilliant finale.
Race 6. (15:50) Melbourne Cup Carnival Country Final 1600m
12 Lady Jones (Bet Now: $SP.00) each way for me in a very open race. Stephen Brown trained mare that has been strong in two runs back from a spell, both over 1400m. Latest came on Sale Cup Day where she was given a 12/10 by Williams and in a driving go, she finished best. She is racing like a rise to 1600m suits, maps to do no work and with good upside to come, she’ll do me.
2 Euphoric (Bet Now: $SP.00) rates highly for Greg Eurell. He resumed on Geelong Cup Day where he gave them a start and a beating in an electric return, finishing off with real purpose to get the win in one of the wins of the day. Good upside to come and up to 1600m, a truly run mile, Zahra replacing Moor, it all points to him running a beauty.
7 Think Winning (Bet Now: $SP.00) is such a genuine animal for Julius Sandhu. He comes here off a win on Pinker Pinker Night at Cranbourne where he looked gone at one stage but he kept on and really picked up late in the piece to get the win and get his spot in the field. The gate is awful and will have to do work but he’s very genuine.
Race 7. (16:30) Red Roses Stakes 1100m
5 Appin Girl (Bet Now: $SP.00) is more than capable of figuring in the finish. O’Dea/Hoysted trained filly that resumed severa weeks ago at Caulfield and I’d be very forgiving of the run given she was badly held up behind them and had something to offer so forgive and forget the run behind Sheva. Had jumped out super prior to that here, so I think with room to move this time around, she can run an improved race.
3 Saltaire (Bet Now: $SP.00) is one of the leading contenders. Can easily make a case to say she should have won the Crockett at The Valley but the gate sealed her fate, getting dragged back, forced widest and launched late to just miss out on picking up Gumdrops. Think a fast run 1100m is ideal, Shinn sticks and should be strong at the end.
11 Red Dates (Bet Now: $SP.00) has been quite impressive her past couple, the latest at the midweeks at Sale and ran fast overall time in giving them a start and a beating. Fresh legs and back to 1100m I find interesting but is trained on the track, drawn out, she’ll be stronger than most at the end and is a wider first four contender.
Race 8. (17:10) VRC Kennedy Oaks 2500m
If the sustained run from Saturday hasn’t busted her, then good luck beating 2 Zardozi (Bet Now: $SP.00). Dominant win in the Edward Manifold before going to the Wakeful off a break and the fact she kept finding the line given the break between runs, her effort in defeat was outstanding. I am hoping that brings her on and if indeed that is the case, she’s a good thing.
7 Basilinna (Bet Now: $SP.00) rates highly. Team Browne trained filly that comes through the Ethereal from a few weeks back where she got back in the run and took a while to wind into her work but was quite good late when finding clear air, finishing third to Autumn Angel. Think getting back to Flemington and onto the bigger track are two big ticks and with the 2000m run under the belt, that should hold her in good stead.
13 Another You (Bet Now: $SP.00) is still a maiden but she has the engine under the hood to only run well. She was big odds in the Ethereal a few weeks back where she got back in the run and while she was never a threat, I didn’t mind the way she finished her race off behind Autumn Angel. Not sure she can win, but I reckon for wider exotics, she can be certainly entertained.
Race 9. (17:50) Cirka Trophy (Bm90) 1800m
4 Gregolino (Bet Now: $SP.00) has been excellent in two runs down under and confident he can win this. He comes through the Coongy at Caulfield where he looked all over a winner when looming under Kah but couldn’t quite see it through when a close up third to Muramasa. He’s hard fit now and I do think coming slightly back in trip is ideal. Shinn on, home track…keen.
12 Glentaneous (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks like he is in for a good prep. He resumed over 1800m at Sandown where he got into a decent spot behind the speed before angling into clear air and drove hard late, but couldn’t quite get the win when a narrow second to Foujita San. Better for the run under the belt, he appeals big time as a key threat.
13 Seb Song (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Jason Warren trained gelding that has been up a while but is racing in pretty good form. He is several weeks between runs since racing on Moe Cup Day when off the speed and kept chasing in a good effort when a narrow second to Rhinoceros. He has run well at Flemington and gets an in form J Kah to steer.
