Eight races will be run and won at Dubbo on Wednesday for Coonamble Cup Day, with the feature being a Big Dance Qualifier. The weather is fine, the track is soft (7) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (13:34) Boss Agriculture&Gnf Ctr Mdn 1300m
5 Angry Liam (Bet Now: $2.50) has had numerous chances to break the maiden tag but hasn’t been too bad this time in. He ran over 1400m at Forbes last start when near the speed and battled on pretty well in defeat when a close up third. Gets an ideal map from the gate and the depth is thin.
8 Metal Bar (Bet Now: $5.50) looks the key threat for Jeremy Sylvester. He resumed over 1100m at Armidale where the market wanted to be with him but condition just gave way late when fourth. He should take good improvement from that and up to 1300m, he appeals for sure.
13 Winning Factor (Bet Now: $9.50) gets in okay after the claim and maps to do no work. She resumed at this track/distance and just looked in need of the run when a well held fifth, with the market suggesting as much. Better for the run, her form from last prep reads well enough for this.
Race 2. (14:09) Woodham Petroleum Services Mdn 1100m
6 Starane (Bet Now: $3.00) looks ready to win. He hasn’t been far away in three runs back from a spell, the latest coming over 1000m at Dubbo where he was chasing the speed but moved well and loomed large to win the race but had to settle for a narrow second. Back up to 1100m from the gate, he’s the one to beat.
5 Star Of Kings (Bet Now: $5.50) looks a horse of talent. He debuted on testing ground at Dubbo where he was near the speed throughout and tried hard but couldn’t quite finish it off when third to Honour The Crown. Back on firmer footing is a big tick and he did trial up well prior to the debut.
1 Dante Alexander (Bet Now: $9.00) is a first four threat. He ran over 1100m at Scone last time out where he worked to the line pretty well without threatening when fourth, beaten just over a length. Not sure I could back him to win given he has had numerous chances to break the maiden, but he’s one for multiples.
Race 3. (14:44) Swanny's Foods & Tab Hcp (C2) 1100m
5 Career Change (Bet Now: $1.45) looks to have returned in good order. Resumed in a strong Class 2 at Dubbo and with sustained speed from the front, she was too good, and actually clocked pretty good late splits for the meeting, and doing that from the front is a big tick. Commands respect.
1 Ticket To Anywhere (Bet Now: $4.20) is the class of the field and that will carry him a long way. First run for Brett Robb came over 1100m at Bathurst where the market said it was a prep run and he ran like that, albeit under two lengths away from a promising animal, Jacenza, who has won again since. Fitter, I’m expecting sharp improvement.
3 Emeriz (Bet Now: $8.00) can easily bounce back. To the eye, he was a bit on the plain side when resuming at Dubbo but given the race shape, I’m not sure he was entirely suited behind a handy horse in Lady River. Market said it would be a prep run, so I think you have to give him another look.
Race 4. (15:19) Inland Petroluem Hcp (C1) 1400m
5 Adelinda (Bet Now: $8.50) has to be the each way bet here. Tracey Bartley trained mare that has only won the one race but she is knocking on the door. She was a real eye catcher fresh at Gosford before going to Kembla when back in the run and closed off pretty well behind Wild Botanica. If she can settle closer in the run, I think she’ll only run a positive race.
11 Let Me Reign (Bet Now: $8.50) has been solid in two career outings. Just a run on debut at Forbes but improved out of sight with a strong win at Dubbo after getting a suck run behind the speed. Tricky draw to overcome, but with a positive steer, she can win this for sure.
12 Entrez Boo (Bet Now: $9.00) is a first four contender. He ran over 1300m at Dubbo where she had a suck run in transit and was there to win but just battled late when third, beaten just over two lengths. Not sure she is good enough to win, but I reckon include her in wider exotics.
Race 5. (15:54) Keady Family Crystal Sprint 1200m
1 Dalavin (Bet Now: $1.55) is flying for Brett Robb. He is looking to make it five on the bounce, his last three wins coming at Dubbo where each time has been there to be run down but has found under pressure and has been too good. He does fly at Dubbo, he lands on speed and is hard to run down.
4 Great Buy (Bet Now: $4.00) will jump on the bunny and give a sight. He did that at Bathurst last time in The Panorama and gave a strong kick but couldn’t quite finish it off, beaten over two lengths by Know Where To Look. Depth here is nowhere near as strong and he has a good record at the track.
6 Larnyx (Bet Now: $10.00) is one of the hardest to beat. He lumped 61.5kg at Dubbo last time and was very good late in the piece when third to Lady River. Tumbles in weight and from gate one, if he can settle closer in the run, I think he’ll only run well and is quite dangerous at odds.
Race 6. (16:29) Nalder Family Country Magic-C3 1600m
3 Deel Street (Bet Now: $2.60) on top. Connie Greig trained mare that is racing in career best form. She ran over the mile at Dubbo last time where she gave them an absolute spanking, albeit the conditions suited her given she races best on wet ground. If the track remains to have cushion in it, she rates highly, and has gate one plus the claim.
5 Coopella (Bet Now: $3.70) is racing really well for Brett Robb. She was near the speed at Dubbo last start and tried her guts out but was simply no match late for Deel Street, beaten just under four lengths but battled on well. Not sure she can turn the tables but runs well regardless in a thin overall race.
7 Mr Severino (Bet Now: $8.50) is knocking on the door to win. He attempted to lead throughout at Armidale three weeks back and gave a solid kick but was nabbed late by Razzle Dazzle. I reckon he is better suited with a bunny to chase so if that eventuates, he can take this out.
Race 7. (17:09) Coonamble Cup 1600m
I’m with 3 Philipsburg (Bet Now: $4.20). James Ponsonby is an astute trainer who places his horses to advantage and I think he has found a loely race for his horse here. Far from disgraced behind a Stakes performer last time in Finepoint at Rosehill, a form line which clearly reads well for what looks a relatively thin Country Cup.
8 Onemore Sapphire (Bet Now: $5.50) is an interesting runner because he won the Port Macquarie Cup Prelude last time over 1800m and you would have assumed they’d go to that Cup on Friday, but instead runs at the mile here. He needs luck from the draw, but he’s flying and is a keyhope.
7 McCormack (Bet Now: $14.00) is in with a shout with luck from the gate. His recent form is a bit on the plain side, but he has come through strong races won by some likely types in Kipsbay and Mahagoni. Moved well in a tick over trial, he gets the claim and his best is clearly good enough.
Race 8. (17:49) Futurity Baradine Cup (Bm66) 1400m
6 Petain (Bet Now: $4.80) is eight years of age but is racing in career best form. He put together a couple of wins on the bounce before going to Bathurst Cup Day and was good late when third to Power Bank, who was given a 12/10 steer in winning. 1400m I like and he maps to get a soft run.
3 Toulon Factor (Bet Now: $2.90) is flying this time in for Brett Robb. Both times he has sat on speed and toughed it out strongly to win, winning fresh at Tamworth before coming here and fending off a solid field to win impressively. Harder here, but hard to knock the way he’s going.
11 Plectrum (Bet Now: $11.00) is racing in just about career best form. He has done his recent racing at the Non TAB meetings but his form has been quite good, winning a couple of races, and he has shown previously he can run well at TAB meetings. A knockout chance with luck from the wide gate.
