Race One (12:22pm) : Westspeed Stayers’ Bonus Handicap (78+) 2000m: Form Guide
Back Me: These staying races are always a tough nut to crack, but just stick with Mystic Prince (Best Odds: $2.20), who was given an absolute peach from Pike to power away late and score an impressive win two back before young Clint Johnson-Porter took over last Saturday and he also produced a peach to get the horse home. He retains the ride and the horse should take care of these.
Big Danger: Drive West (Best Odds: $4.40) ran over 2100m here last Saturday and was given a lovely box seat steer from Camilleri to get the job done narrowly but impressively. Back to 2000m and a firmer surface should really suit and he looks hard to beat despite the rise in grade.
Roughie: Black Uma (Best Odds: $6.50) is the very interesting runner here. He resumes for Justin Warwick after a 14 month spell, where he pulled up lame and dropped out badly to finish out the back at his last start, in June last year. He has had several trials to prepare for his return to racing, and has looked pretty good. Watch market moves.

Race Two (12:58pm) : TabTouch Supporting WA Racing Handicap (72+) 1600m: Form Guide
Back Me: Oakhurst Flyer (Best Odds: $4.20) looked in need of the run four weeks back when resuming, but she ran a beauty when fourth to Bayella, beaten just over a length. She then ran last Saturday over this track/distance and just pulled too hard in front when a tiring fourth. Drops to the minimum weight now, looks the leader and should take some beating.
Big Danger: Pants On Friar (Best Odds: $6.00) probably has the best form line in the race given he ran a closing second to the next up and coming star of Perth racing, Hazzabeel. Pike rode the horse that day and he sticks here, which is a good lead IMO, and there is no Hazzabeel here, so he has to rate as a serious winning chance in a pretty even race.
Roughie: Spin Da Wheels (Best Odds: $34.00) has had a six week break since running a bad last to Windswept. Freshened up, and a recent Lark Hill trial placing was pretty sharp IMO. He hasn’t won for a long time, but from a good draw and with in form hoop Glenn Smith riding, he can improve sharply here at huge odds.

Race Three (1:38pm) : Belmont Newmarket 1200m: Form Guide
Back Me: Just back Rebel King (Best Odds: $7.00) and watch him. He beat most of these last time out in the H.G. Bolton Sprint, and won it comfortably. You don’t need to go deep here in terms of doing the form. Rebel King just wins.
Big Danger: Wink And A Nod (Best Odds: $3.70) scored a dominant win here two back before running in the H.G. Bolton Sprint and worked home well late from the back when third to Rebel King. Meets the winner 3.5kg better at the weights, but Rebel King did win impressively, so despite the weight pull, I doubt the mare can turn the tables.
Roughie: Rock Magic (Best Odds: $5.50) scored a strong win first up in the Beaufine before going to the H.G. Bolton and worked home okay without threatening when finishing fifth to Rebel King. He does get a weight pull also on Rebel King, but like Wink And A Nod, I doubt the tables can be turned.

Race Four (2:18pm) : Craig Perkins 40th Birthday Handicap (72+) 1300m: Form Guide
Back Me: Grey Enigma (Best Odds: $9.00) for me here. He ran over 1400m here last Saturday and tried very hard when running second to impressive winner Paris Of Troy, beaten 2.5L. On the back up, which I always like, and this race doesn’t appear to be overly strong. He looks the safe way to go here.
Big Danger: Zuccheros (Best Odds: $3.20) ran over 1200m here a couple of weeks and aided by a lovely ride from Joe Azzopardi, the Adam Durrant trained galloper just dashed away late to win and win with ridiculous ease. He again draws to get the gun run just off the speed and looks one of the hardest to beat.
Roughie: Danablue (Best Odds: $12.00) drops in grade after contesting the H.G. Bolton Sprint first up where he got badly checked in the straight and lost all momentum when tenth to impressive winner Rebel King. Big, big drop down in class and can definitely improve at odds.

Race Five (2:54pm) : Bernie Couch Memorial Handicap (66+) 1200m: Form Guide
Back Me: Ideal Image (Best Odds: $4.40) for me here. She is a Group class performer who ran during the Summer/Autumn and was quite disappointing in four runs. She looked sharp in a recent Lark Hill barrier trial, so that tells me she has taken very good benefit from the break. Pike on, and though drawn wide, she has loads of class and a booming finish when right.
Big Danger: Cuanzo (Best Odds: $7.50) is the watch horse. He had three runs during the Autumn but didn’t really fire as well as anticipated. Go back to the Summer Carnival last year and he ran third behind Disposition, who is a star. Recent trial here was pretty solid, and on his best form, he’d give these a serious shake.
Roughie: The weight relief should suit Castle Retreat (Best Odds: $17.00), who carried 57kg last time out when not suited by the slow tempo, finishing fifth to tearaway winner Zuccheros. Drops a bit in class, though the depth is strong, but perhaps the engagement of a senior could spark improvement.

Race Six (3:29pm) : Westspeed Plate 1000m: Form Guide
Back Me: Looks a race in two between London Line (Best Odds: $2.40) and Hot Goods. Based on the barrier only, I’ll go with London Line, who performed very well last time in, most notably towards the end when placing behind Lucky Street, who is the best youngster in the business in this state. Trials leading up to this have been sharp and won’t do too much work from the gate with Pike aboard.
Big Danger: Hot Goods (Best Odds: $2.25) debuted down the Pinjarra straight a couple of months back and she just brained her rivals, leading all the way and running very smart time. Looked very sharp in a recent barrier trial win, but the sticking point is the wide gate. Had she drawn inside, I’d declare her, but the barrier worries me big time.
Roughie: Sporting Image (Best Odds: $10.00) debuted over the 1200m here a couple of weeks back and worked home well late despite being green when running third to Universal Law, beaten a length. Back to the 1000m is a query, but he has gate one and now has got the race experience under his belt, plus has race fitness compared to the other two mentioned above.

Race Seven (4:05pm) : Race Replays Now Free On Pr.com Handicap (60+) 1000m: Form Guide
Back Me: Going with Nightingale Road (Best Odds: $8.00). She hasn’t raced since late June when finishing down the track behind War Prince, where the jockey reported that he wasn’t happy with this mares action. Been given a six week break now, barrier one and Pike rides, which I think is a very good lead. Hard to beat I think provided she is right.
Big Danger: Agachar Cruz (Best Odds: $4.40) ran over this track/distance last time out and he just brained his rivals, leading all the way and spanking his rivals. He carried 58.5kg that day, and now he drops to 57kg. Should lead and give them something to think about for sure.
Roughie: Chasing Chaos (Best Odds: $7.00) resumed over this track/distance and tried very hard when sitting on speed but couldn’t quite finish it off and had to settle for second to Rule To Wyn, who he meets here 1.5kg better off for a 3/4 length defeat. Can definitely turn the tables and is the knockout chance.

Race Eight (4:42pm) : Perth Racing Become A Member Today Handicap (60+) 1400m: Form Guide
Back Me: Rattlehead (Best Odds: $6.50) for me here in the lucky last. He stalked the speed here last time out but couldn’t quite reel in Phantom Chance, who had a charmed run in front and proved a touch too good for its rivals. Those two meet again here, and Rattlehead gets a 2.5kg weight pull. Hard to beat.
Big Danger: Rikki Tikki Tavi (Best Odds: $7.00) was given a Pike gem to get home here last time out, saving ground near the inside before peeling out and lifting under that familiar Pike style, and the horse lunged to win in the last couple of strides. No reason why he can’t do it again, especially with Pike sticking.
Roughie: Phantom Choice (Best Odds: $10.00) has won his past three starts, all in impressive fashion, with two of the wins coming from rides by Natasha Faithfull, who reunites with the Neville Parnham trained galloper. He should hold the lead from gate one, and though poorly weighted compared to his rivals, he’ll dictate and prove tough to run down.
