Race 1. (13:15) Novocastrian Electrical Mdn Plate 1600m
2 Oakfield Echidna (Bet Now: $SP.00) is the only horse I could consider a threat. Kris Lees trained gelding that was a forgive fresh at Taree after sitting wide no cover. He then went to Muswellbrook when ridden with a sit and found the line well enough in defeat when third. Home track advantage and hard fit now, he’s an improver.
8 Without You (Bet Now: $SP.00) hasn’t been too bad in four career outings. She ran over the mile at Wyong last time and kept finding the line from off the speed when beaten a couple of lengths in a solid effort. She has that 1600m run under the belt, which holds her in good stead.
7 Super Intelligent (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a knockout hope at a big price. She debuted at Wyong over 1200m where he pulled up slow to recover so forgive and forget the run. Two trials since have been more than encouraging to my eye and overall, this isn’t a deep race, so she doesn’t need to be anything special.
Race 2. (13:50) Kam-Cool Refrigeration (Bm64) 2300m
1 King Kikau (Bet Now: $SP.00) is worth an each way ticket. Wayne Wilkes trained gelding that is racing really well at the moment. Deceptive photo to say the very least at Hawkesbury last time because all the replays suggested he had won the race but the official photo said otherwise. He’s racing in great form, trip will be no issue and this isn’t a deep race.
7 Revelaide (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a son of Rebel Raider that is heading in the right direction for Ryan/Alexiou. Placed two back over 2000m at Canberra before going to this track/distance where he looked a good thing and slogged it out best to win well. He’ll have no issue with the trip and now he has got a win on the board, he can go on with it.
5 Tell The Future (Bet Now: $SP.00) is one I can entertain for wider exotics. He ran over 2100m at Gosford last time out. He was tucked in behind the speed throughout and was held up at times but for the most part, he had his chance when third. Not sure I could back him to win but he can pinch a first four spot.
Race 3. (14:25) Paul Perry Hcp 1300m
4 Just Party (Bet Now: $SP.00) should take a power of beating here. Ryan/Alexiou trained son of Justify that is on debut off the back of a sharp trial win at Rosehill when sitting on speed before being clicked up by Clark and away he went, gapping his rivals to win by a space and running time. Draws wide but should press forward and I think he goes pretty good. Keen.
12 Photograph (Bet Now: $SP.00) should appreciate a rise to 1300m for James Cummings. She debuted over 1200m at Canterbury where she got back to near last in the run and while she was never a threat, I really liked the way she found the line late in the piece when fourth to Totoka. Dangerous if the inside gate can be used to advantage.
2 Cristal Clear (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a son of Exceedance for Annabel Neasham that is on debut. This guy has had two trials to get ready for start one, each time, moving well enough to my eye, winning his latest trial. Likely spots them a start but I think he’ll be strong at the end and can be one for multiples.
Race 4. (15:05) Bella Group Services Mdn Plate 1200m
8 Lady Doris (Bet Now: $SP.00) is racing like she will love the rise to 1200m. Ryan/Alexiou trained filly that ran over 1100m at Wyong last time out where she got off the speed and took a little while to wind into her work but she was good late in the piece when third to Cross Your Heart. Blinkers on, gate one, 1200m on the bigger track, she only runs well.
7 The New Sinatra (Bet Now: $SP.00) should appreciate getting to the bigger track and up in trip. He debuted over 1100m at Gosford where he was a bit raw and new to the caper, perhaps not being 100% happy on the tight track when third. He has that run under the belt and maps ideally. Rates highly.
3 Dolzino (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Robert Quinn trained gelding that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since November 15 in a strong maiden at Rosehill when outclassed behind Waikato Girl but that said, he was only beaten four lengths. Trialled up really well in readiness for the return so watch the market.
Race 5. (15:40) New Era Technology Mdn Hcp 1400m
1 New Pharoah (Bet Now: $SP.00) gets the nod for me in a decent looking maiden. Brett Cavanough trained colt that resumes, having not raced since the Brisbane Winter Carnival when midfield in The Phoenix behind Azula after getting back and was keen in the run. Given a good break and has trialled up well at Scone in readiness, plus 1400m fresh signals some level of intent.
3 Just Immortal (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a son of Justify for GaiBott that is on debut. This guy has had two trials in readiness for start one, the latest seeing him run fourth over 1050m at Randwick behind a nice horse, Territory Express, when moving well enough I thought for an unraced horse against seasoned campaigners. Market will be interesting.
10 Investment (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks an improving filly for Joe Pride. This girl debuted at Warwick Farm back in September where she got back to near last in the run and made up some ground but was never a winning threat behind Aditi. Trial work to get ready has been solid enough to my eye and resuming at 1400m I find interesting. Win wouldn’t shock.
Race 6. (16:20) Charlestown Square (Bm64) 1200m
7 Leave Me Some (Bet Now: $SP.00) is worth an each way speck. Grant Marshall trained mare that is a beauty and is generally around the mark in these kinds of races. Close up in defeat two back at Canterbury before going to 1100m at Quirindi where she got back to near last in the run and launched late when a close up second to Raging Rush. 1200m, bigger track, should get three/four wide cover and launch at them late.
6 Hellcibell (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a daughter of Hellbent for Brett Cavanough that resumes. This girl did a good job in her first prep, winning two of three, the latest coming here on the Beaumont track. Moved well enough in a recent Scone trial behind a handy one, Midnight Opal, and despite a tricky gate, she commands respect.
2 Overextend (Bet Now: $SP.00) will jump on the bunny and give cheek. He did that last time out in the Walcha Cup and he tried his guts out but 1400m was a bridge too far and he felt the pinch late behind Danza In The Dark. Back to 1200m, lands on speed and will give a sight. Knockout hope.
Race 7. (16:55) Newcastle Stakes 1400m
1 Zeyrek (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks a big price here. Team Hawkes trained gelding that resumes and he does bring the class edge. His last run came in the Champions Stakes when down the track but far from disgraced in defeat behind Atishu. He is a horse who can sprint well fresh and gee I loved the way he closed off in a trial win. Does no work from the gate and will launch late.
10 Jimmysstar… (Bet Now: $SP.00) no comment on the ride last start. But, the fact is he was beaten as a $1.20 favourite and was beaten by a $151 chance who should have won by further. I think he will be better ridden with a sit and clearly has the engine under the hood but do I want to take short odds for a horse with that last start hanging over his head? I am saying no.
15 Sharp Shock (Bet Now: $SP.00) is one at a massive price that I think could pinch top four. He ran in a Highway at Rosehill last time and tried his guts out but just found one better in Belvedere Boys in a good effort. Maps to get a suck run in transit and he’ll be strong at the end of 1400m. Doubt he wins, but including in exotics.
Race 8. (17:35) Surfest Women's Pro Midway (Bm64) 1400m
2 Bindi’s Choice (Bet Now: $SP.00) is the straight bat option in the get out. David Pfieffer trained mare that resumed with a bang when winning here before going to the Kenso at Randwick when ridden with a sit and kept finding in a solid effort when third to Centrestone, a borderline Saturday class horse, so that form does read well for this. The one for me.
7 Gago (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Nathan Doyle trained gelding that resumes, having not raced since breaking the maiden tag over 1500m at Hawkesbury when leading throughout and kicking on strongly to score. That was on August 8 and has since been purchased online and is now with Doyle. Trial work has been strong and like him at 1400m fresh.
4 Super (Bet Now: $SP.00) is capable with his best. Mick Minervini trained gelding that ran over 1350m at Wyong last time where he got back off the speed and tried to get involved but couldn’t, beaten a few lengths by Selfless Act. Gets home track advantage, a kind map and Bullock on.
