The Valley will host a nine event program on Friday. Weather is fine, track is good (4) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (17:45) 2024 Lady Of Racing Award (Bm64) 1600m
5 Mah Ali (Bet Now: $SP.00) gets the nod for me in the opener. Ben Smith trained filly that ran against the older horses at Flemington on Saturday when down the track behind Another Wil but that horse looks an elite talent and this girl was back in the ruck in a race dominated on speed. No horse of that quality here and if the inside gate is used to advantage, she’ll take holding out.
3 Galano (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a son of Snitzel that is heading in the right direction. This colt faced an average bunch at Sandown last time and he made a mess of them, winning comfortably and was dominant from on speed. Good test here against some likely types but off a win, he commands respect.
4 Super Solar (Bet Now: $SP.00) is on the seven day back up for Reece Goodwin after racing last Friday night where he was wide no cover for the trip and that hard run just told late in the piece but far from disgraced behind Sea What I See. I think with a more economical run in transit, he’s dangerous against these.
Race 2. (18:15) Inglis Digital Sale 8-13 March (Bm64) 1200m
4 Isthmus (Bet Now: $SP.00) is short enough but I think she’s the one to beat. Team Freedman trained filly that resumed in a Werribee maiden over 1100m where she sat on speed throughout before being clicked up by Currie and she made an absolute mess of them late, winning quite impressively. This isn’t an overly deep race and with natural improvement off that fresh performance, she’ll take beating.
11 Capabelle (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a filly that I think has an engine under the hood. This girl has had two runs back from a spell, both at Goulburn. Arrogant win first up before finding shifty ground last time and she kept finding the line behind a nice horse, Eight Of A Kind. Firmer footing, kind map, I think she’s a big price.
9 Indian Jewel (Bet Now: $SP.00) is an improver for Price/Kent. This filly resumed at the midweeks at Ballarat when just off the speed and chasing. She was never really threatening but I didn’t mind the way she found the line late in the piece when fourth. Should be strong at the end. Just depends how far back she gets.
Race 3. (18:45) Solo No Sugar Hcp (C1) 1000m
3 Chalice Well (Bet Now: $SP.00) is the one they have to beat. This mare resumed with an arrogant maiden win at Kyneton before going to the 955m here three weeks ago where she pretty much went around like it was a barrier trial, getting badly held up when clearly having plenty to offer. Like her up in trip and with clear air this time around, she’s going to take holding out.
5 Porta Romana (Bet Now: $SP.00) is an Annabel Neasham trained filly that resumes. This girl is first up, having not raced since July 29 when down the track in a 2YO race at Randwick behind Caballus, with that form reading well enough for a race like this. Trial work has been encouraging and strikes a winnable race.
7 Imminance (Bet Now: $SP.00) is one I can entertain for exotics. She resumed over 1100m at Ballarat when just off the speed and kept finding the line but seemingly had her chance when second to impressive winner Mount Olympus. Good improvement to come, strong late and Blinkers first time, she’s likeable.
Race 4. (19:15) 55 Second Challenge Final (Bm84) 955m
2 Philosopher (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks the leader and from there, he’s the one they have to beat. He has saved his best for this track this time in, the latest being two weeks ago when an all the way winner at this track/distance. Looks like he will lead them up, be out of trouble, run along and prove hard to get past.
6 Scuderia (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a ripping mare who has done little wrong in a ten start career for Thomas Carberry. This mare ran over this track/distance four weeks ago when chasing from the outset on speed and tried her guts out but couldn’t quite get there when second to Bristler. Saves her best for here and despite the tricky gate, commands respect.
3 Direct (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Kennewell/Yeomans trained gelding that resumes. He is first up, having not raced since June 17 down the straight at Flemington when down the track behind Rain Lord. Been given a good break and his trial/jumpout work has been more than encouraging so I am keen to see how he goes, especially with a kind map.
Race 5. (19:45) Cool Ridge (Bm84) 2500m
5 Think N Fly (Bet Now: $SP.00) is worth an each way speck. He is on the six day back up after racing over 2000m at Flemington last Saturday where he had leaders back so he had every chance in that regard but the race shape wasn’t to his liking. That said, he stayed on and was very sound in defeat. Back up in trip, hard fit, racing very well and strikes a winnable race.
3 Yarrawonga (Bet Now: $SP.00) will jump on the bunny and prove hard to run down. GaiBott trained stayer that was tough in winning last Wednesday at Rosehill. Credit to him, he was there to be beaten but he found under pressure and lifted under T Clark to win. Good test here, but with his racing pattern, he’ll give himself every chance.
6 Akrotiri (Bet Now: $SP.00) is capable for Cindy Alderson. He ran in a strong race at Flemington last time over 2000m and just lacked the change up speed to go with them late but he was far from disgraced in defeat behind El Soleado. Better suited at this level and I do think the rise in trip helps.
Race 6. (20:15) Summer Series Final (Bm70) 2040m
7 Verifier (Bet Now: $SP.00) on top in what I feel is a two horse race. Nigel Blackiston trained galloper that ran two weeks ago at this track/distance. He got off the speed before Shinn tried to make a sustained move from midfield and he was gallant but couldn’t sustain it, just feeling the pinch late behind Lauding. Think with a more economical run in transit, he’ll take holding out.
1 Lauding (Bet Now: $SP.00) is progressive and heading in the right direction for Ciaron Maher. He won the race mentioned above, aided by a positive steer from Melham, who rode him like he was the best horse in the race and he duly was, spanking them and was impressive. Tricky gate, but should press forward and take running down.
10 Fagin (Bet Now: $SP.00) is on the seven day back up for Phillip Stokes after winning last Friday night at this track/distance, getting the sweet sit in behind the speed before angling clear and he got better as the race went on to win and win well. Harder assignment here, but kind map and off a win, commands some level of respect.
Race 7. (20:45) Pepsi Max (Bm70) 1200m
1 Girl (Bet Now: $SP.00) is the one to beat. This mare resumed at the midweeks at Ballarat where she was backed with confidence and the punters got it spot on given she made an absolute mess of them and was dominant in the run to the line, beating up a field which had depth to it. Maps perfect again and with natural improvement, rates highly.
3 Catahoula (Bet Now: $SP.00) has come back in really good order for Team Hawkes. Lovely ride from McNeil saw her win three weeks ago at this track/distance, saving all the ground by hugging the rail and getting the splits when required to win and win well. She’ll be around the mark I am sure.
10 I Never Dreamed (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Team Hayes trained filly that resumes. She had a two run prep in the Spring to start her career, winning on debut at Swan Hill before an eye catching effort from the back at Pakenham and was spelled. Reckon she’ll be better suited over further but has jumped out well and will be strong late.
Race 8. (21:15) Summer Sprint Final (Bm78) 1200m
I think the market is going to gravitate towards 7 Johnny Rocker (Bet Now: $SP.00). He is a nice horse who has had two runs for Nick Ryan. Good in defeat fresh at Flemington before going to Caulfield where he looked a moral but he found nothing and was plain, with the vet finding him lame post race. Given a mini break and he looked to be jogging in a hot jumpout at Flemington. He’s going to take beating.
4 Midtown Miss (Bet Now: $SP.00) has done little wrong this time in in for Matt Laurie. He resumed with a bang here on New Years Day and has been strong since in two subsequent runs, finishing runner up each time, the latest being at Caulfield a fortnight back behind Twin Perfection. Returning to this level, he’s dangerous.
1 Dashing (Bet Now: $SP.00) is an Aaron Purcell trained four year old that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since Cup Week when close up and strong in defeat in the Country Final behind Picaroon. He is a horse who can sprint well on the fresh side and has jumped out really well leading in. Don’t pen him.
Race 9. (21:45) Gatorade (Bm64) 1200m
2 Hello World (Bet Now: $SP.00) can run an improved race for Team Hawkes. He comes through the Zeditave when near the speed throughout and tried hard but 1200m at that level just saw him feel the pinch late behind Raikoke. Much better suited at this level and with his on speed racing pattern, he’ll take beating.
1 Bluestone Lane (Bet Now: $SP.00) has a good track/distance record and should be around the mark for Cliff Brown. He ran three weeks ago at this track/distance when on speed and he tried his guts out but couldn’t quite see it through when second to Catahoula. Maps ideally again, hard fit, racing well…leading contender.
9 Field Of Praise (Bet Now: $SP.00) is third up from a spell for Team Hayes and should just about be at peak fitness. This mare attempted to lead throughout at Ballarat last time and gave a decent sight but felt the pinch at the end when third to Extreme Threat. Not sure I could back her to win but with her racing pattern, she’ll give herself every chance.
