4 Tribal Council (Bet Now:  $SP.00) on top for me. He ran over this track/distance last start where he got a fair way out of his ground but I liked the way he finished his race off in defeat when second. If he can settle closer and be within range, he’ll take holding out.

9 Black Raptor (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an Alpine Eagle mare that debuts for Siggy Carr. She has had a couple of trials over 800m here in readiness for start one and has been quite good each time she has stepped out. In well after the claim, watch betting.

6 Raffo (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a son of Needs Further for John Blacker that debuts. He’s had two trials to get ready and hasn’t quite set the world on fire. But, gets in well with the claim and first start on a big day, I’d say watch the market and see what it does.

7 Novalargo (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks prepped up to go for Glenn Stevenson. She resumes, having not raced since Oct 3 when a dominant on speed winner over this trip at Launceston. Given a good break and looked sharp in a trial win. Lands on speed and takes running down.

6 Magnolia Sky (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes into this off the back of a maiden track/distance win last time, leading throughout and she gave nothing else a look in to win impressively. Looks to land in front, on speed at worst, and takes running down.

9 Argyll Diamond (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to 1100m after racing over 1200m here last start when wide no cover and she tried hard but just couldn’t quite see it through and felt the pinch late. Back to 1100m, she’s dangerous if she gets luck in running.

8 No Rumours (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should win this on form. He ran second last Wednesday at Sandown when just off speed and tried hard but had to settle for the runner up spot to Amizetta. Gate is tricky but if ridden like the best horse in the race, he has a bit on these I feel.

1 Johnnie Pinch (Bet Now:  $SP.00) put together a couple of nice wins on the bounce prior to a second at Launceston. He got into a decent spot in transit just off speed and tried hard but just couldn’t quite get there. Racing well and despite the tricky gate, he appeals as a key threat.

6 Chicane (Bet Now:  $SP.00) ran fourth over 2100m at Launceston last start. He got just off the pace and I thought was there to win but he was quite one paced late in the piece. Not sure he is a horse I could back to win but can run first four.

7 Aurora Rise (Bet Now:  $SP.00) for me in what looks an open contest. She got the right run in transit last start at Geelong to break the maiden tag but she found when required to fend them off and score. Good upside to come and being by The Autumn Sun, I think she’ll eat up the rise in trip.

3 Little El (Bet Now:  $SP.00) gives every indication of appreciating 2000m after a dominant win in the Thousand Guineas, sitting off speed and was trucking before being clicked up and away she went to win and win well. Good upside to come, she commands respect.

2 Bright Night (Bet Now:  $SP.00) ran fifth in the Thousand Guineas. Total forgive I thought given she was back near last in a race dominated on speed and although she did make up ground, she was never a factor. Like the rise in trip for her, she’s a knockout hope.

3 Kiss My Rock (Bet Now:  $SP.00) brings solid Victorian form what looks a very weak race so I’ll be leaning his way here. He was five weeks between runs when racing over 1300m at Geelong, just finding them a bit sharp. Better set up here, rising in trip and finds a race with little/no depth.

2 Blooming Edge (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to the mile after racing over 2100m at Launceston last time. He made a sustained run from off speed and loomed large to win but just found one better in Tideford. If he can overcome the tricky gate, he takes beating.

6 Infringement (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was pretty good at this track/distance last start. He got back to near last in the run and while he was never threatening, he kept chasing and was far from disgraced. If he can settle closer in the run, he’s dangerous at odds.

7 Geegees Missile (Bet Now:  $SP.00) seems the straight bat play. She comes back to 1000m after racing over 1200m last start. She did early work out wide on speed and tried hard but just couldn’t quite sustain the run when third to Swift Force. Maps ideally, C Williams on, happy to be in her corner.

8 Prince Of Khatum (Bet Now:  $SP.00) ran second in the race mentioned above. He landed on speed and kept chasing in the straight but just couldn’t quite get there yet kept chasing. Tricky gate but will press forward and be around the mark.

2 Sweet Lucifer (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has been freshened up since Dec 28 over 1100m here. He was wide no cover for a fair chunk of the race and the hard run just told late in the piece. Maps much better this time around, he’s dangerous at odds.

6 Silver Dagger (Bet Now:  $SP.00) seems a great gamble here. She steps up to 1200m after racing over 1100m at Launceston where she was a bit flat footed when the sprint went on but kept finding the line in defeat in a good effort when second. 1200m, she’ll stalk Sanniya and be strong late.

9 Sanniya (Bet Now:  $SP.00) would be a moral if this was 1000m…just can she stretch her brilliance to 1200m? She spanked them here last start in the Lady Lynette, leading throughout and she gave nothing else a look in. She’ll spear across from the wide gate, lead, and take running down.

7 Go Jeanie (Bet Now:  $SP.00) steps up to 1200m after an all the way win over 1100m at Launceston in the same race that Silver Dagger ran second in. She led and was there to be beaten but found and was strong to the line. She’ll sit near the speed and giving a decent sight.

1 Steparty (Bet Now:  $SP.00) hasn’t won since his 3YO season but gee he appears to be racing well and seems so well suited here. He ran a closing second in the Kensington, sitting off speed and worked home with real purpose. Bursting to win and he gets his chance here.

2 Jimmy The Bear (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has class on his side and that is going to carry him a long way. He comes through the Gold Reef from three weeks ago at Flemington where he kept chasing and was game in defeat. He’ll love coming back to 1400m and stable are lethal when on the road, especially this part of the world.

4 Welwal (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Price/Kent trained gelding that resumes. He is first up, having not raced since Aug 2 when struggling on a bottomless deck at Rosehill behind Headley Grange, who was flying at the time. Jumped out well for the return, he’s a knockout hope.

1 Bold Soul (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should take a power of beating here. He ran last Saturday at Caulfield where the race shape wasn’t really suited to him but he kept chasing and was quite good in defeat. Love him up to 2400m, more genuine tempo, will be strong late…like him.

2 Taramansour (Bet Now:  $SP.00) steps up in trip after a first up run over 1700m at Caulfield where he just found them a bit sharp but kept chasing and was a definite pass mark behind Taken. Much better suited at this distance range and has class on his side.

6 Distrustful Award (Bet Now:  $SP.00) steps up to 2400m after racing over 2150m in the Sydeston at Launceston when off speed and kept finding the line in defeat. Not sure he is good enough to win but is a must for exotics.

9 Geegeehailstorm (Bet Now:  $SP.00) each way in the get out. She steps up to 1400m after racing over 1200m here last time when off speed, dragged back from the wide gate, and was good late when fourth. Maps to settle much closer in the run and be effective late.

4 Navarre River (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has a good track/distance record and appeals. He was wide no cover over 1200m here last time and despite the early work, he battled away really well in defeat. Maps to get a sweet sit in transit and be hard to hold out.

2 Mega Mic (Bet Now:  $SP.00) ran last week over 1200m at Launceston when first up. He got into a decent spot and I thought was there to win but couldn’t quite finish the race off. Fitter and up in trip, good upside, he’s a threat at odds.

NEXT BEST: Race Eight Number 1 Steparty

LONG SHOT: Race Ten Number 9 Geegeehailstorm
