8/2/2020 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Pinjarra, Magic Millions day

A bumper ten race card has been assembled for Pinjarra this Saturday where it is Magic Millions Day. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

15 On Ze Run (Bet Now: $9.00) can be an improver at odds. Resumed over 1200m at Ascot last Saturday where she was tucked away behind the speed and looked to travel well but when it came to the crunch time, she couldn’t dash with them late. Should take good improvement off that and up to 1300m from a sweet gate, she’s a leading chance.

4 Sky Five (Bet Now: $12.00) is a son of Planet Five for Brett Pope who comes through the Pick Your Battles maiden from two weeks back at Ascot where he was back, wide with cover, and was off the bit on the turn, but kept finding and wasn’t too bad in defeat when running fourth. Think a rise to 1300m certainly won’t harm his chances.

14 Triple Plan (Bet Now: $35.00) is a Neville Parnham trained mare that hasn’t done a great deal in four career outings, but the things going for her here is the fact she gets gate one, so she does no work in the run. I also think she comes through a strong maiden from Ascot two weeks ago won by Pick Your Battles when doing work on speed. One for exotics.

5 Lordhelpmerun… (Bet Now: $2.20) one last chance. He’s teasing to win one for Steve Wolfe but keeps finding a couple better, the latest being two weeks ago at Ascot when third to the in form Dance Music. Don’t mind him back to Pinjarra and while he hasn’t won in a little while, he’s knocking on the door. Hopefully the door opens here.

3 Arctic Stream (Bet Now: $3.30) is five weeks between runs for Ross Price since contesting the Perth Cup where he was outclassed but far from disgraced when running a game seventh to Mississippi Delta. He does tend to race well with fresh legs, but at the same time has residual fitness so 1600m here should be fine for him.

6 Red Publisher (Bet Now: $6.00) should be suited up in trip here for the Ashley Maley stable. Ran in the Batavia at Geraldton last time out over 1300m when off the speed and finding the line pretty well in defeat behind surprise winner Fields Of Vision. Good record at 1600m, has upside and should get run of the race from the draw.

Tricky gate to overcome, but I think the class and brilliance of 6 Celebrity Queen (Bet Now: $1.80) gets her home. Talented filly for Team Williams that resumes after a three run Spring prep to start her career, winning on debut before placing at Ascot behind Amelia’s On Fire before a solid fifth in the Belgravia. Been given a good break and the Lark Hill trial win last week was very good.

2 Sophie’s Song (Bet Now: $8.00) is an interesting runner. Simon Miller trains this mare, who hasn’t raced since December 18 at Ascot when down the track over the mile behind Shuwish after sitting on speed. Been given a break and comes back to 1200m without a public trial, so a few unknowns, but her best is good enough to be around the mark.

4 To Rise Again (Bet Now: $8.50) isn’t far off a win I feel. On the quick back up after racing over 1000m at Ascot last Saturday where he was ridden a touch more cold than normal and he seemed to react to it, finishing off strongly to run fourth to an above average one in Catherine Wheel. Up to 1200m, with similar tactics, he can be dangerous.

I think fresh legs and back to 1400m will suit 4 Playing Marika (Bet Now: $7.00). She had been racing really well, teasing to win, but there’s only so many times you can tease before enough is enough. Given a freshen up after her last run, which was January 23. Back to 1400m should be okay for her and the tick over trial looked encouraging.

12 Flying Target (Bet Now: $35.00) doesn’t have the greatest of winning strike rates, but if you’re going off the resumption, that strike rate will be improving this prep. Resumed behind Lacevinsky at Ascot and loved the way she found the line late off a moderate tempo to run second. Up to 1400m looks ideal. Just has to hold her form from first up.

1 Abby Lane (Bet Now: $6.50) is going quite well I think for Anne King. Ridden a touch too close to the speed here two back behind Serenity Bay before ridden cold at Ascot a fortnight ago and finished off strongly when third to Media Baron. I think ridden patiently is the way to steer him best, so if that eventuates here, he’ll take some beating.

Think with a touch more upside, want to lean the way of 2 Festival Miss (Bet Now: $9.50) for Team Williams, who ran third to Free Trade two weeks ago at Ascot. Pike had her in the A1 spot just behind the speed and loomed large but couldn’t quite finish it off. Think she’s got more room to come and back to Mares grade, she’s likeable.

1 Flower Of War (Bet Now: $4.00) has done little to nothing wrong this time in for Simon Miller and has to be rated as one of the hardest to beat. Attempted to lead throughout over 1200m at Ascot two weeks ago and for mine, thought she had every chance. Got bloused near the peg by Free Trade, who is one of the more talented benchmark horses in WA. Can she see out a strong 1300m?

9 Henty Gal (Bet Now: $11.00) lacks the class of some of these but she has the barrier to get a very economical run in transit and use her turn of foot. Resumed over 1200m at Bunbury when getting the box seat sit before diving into the cutaway and showing good change up speed to get the job done. Harder here, but gets the right set up to be dangerous at odds.

1 Free Trade (Bet Now: $3.60) is an absolute beauty for the Michael Lane camp. Was enormous in defeat first up in the Fitzpatrick Plate at Albany behind Mankind before racing over 1200m at Ascot when given a sweet ride just off the speed before angling into clear air and finishing best in a driving go. Third up from a break, he’s hard fit now and should prove hard to beat.

3 Mr Genoa (Bet Now: $3.50) is a huge market/yard watch. Luke Fernie trains this gelding, who is first up, having not raced since scoring a fab win in the Country Final at Ascot during the Summer Carnival. Resumes without a trial, but Pike booked tells me this horse is ready to go, and he does have quite a sharp fresh record.

2 Chix Pic (Bet Now: $8.50) is stepping back up to 1200m. Solid resumption at the trip first up behind Carocapo before stepping back to 1000m three weeks ago when proving too good, just. Depth is stronger here and draws tricky, but does have early speed if the button is pushed, and is third up, so should be close to peak fitness.

Giving 8 Convalesce (Bet Now: $17.00) another chance. Was really keen on this youngster when he debuted at Ascot a few weeks ago but couldn’t really get clear air to go through his gears so want to be forgiving of his fourth. Drawn out, he can press forward and get clear air from the outset and if he runs up to the trial prior to the debut, he’ll take a power of beating.

1 Gemma’s Son (Bet Now: $1.40) has to run 1200m out strongly to look the winner. He’s been so impressive in two career outings for David Harrison, winning them both. Latest came two weeks ago at Ascot over 1000m when showing really good change up speed when asked for the effort. If he can see out the six furlongs, he’s the likely winner. Just depends how much work he does from the gate.

5 Keep Your Feet (Bet Now: $18.00) is a definite improver here I feel. He debuted behind Gemma’s Son in that race mentioned above where he sat outside the speed set by the eventual winner and tried hard, but just didn’t have the turn of foot to go with the topweight. Has gate one, so does no work in the run and you’d like to think he’ll improve from start one to start two.

3 Cryptic Wonder (Bet Now: $1.85) on top for me. Team Williams trains this three year old, who showed really good promise in two runs to start the career during the Winter at Belmont, winning on debut before a fast finishing third before being spelled. Been given a good break and his two trials leading in have been outstanding.

2 Money Matters (Bet Now: $3.30) is on the quick back up for Adam Durrant after leading throughout to win the Rangeview Stud on Sunday at Bunbury. Copped pressure early but got a decent mid race breather and kicked on too well for his rivals. 1400m sees him out so back to 1200m with hard fitness, he’s likeable for sure.

6 Beffunjar (Bet Now: $15.00) is a leading chance here despite the wide gate. She’s won three on the bounce for Neville Parnham, the latest coming over 1400m at Ascot back on December 28 when charging clear from off the speed to win and the form out of that race has been quite good. If she’s within range on the turn, she’ll take holding out.

4 Too Close The Sun (Bet Now: $3.30) looks one of the better bets on the program. Had just one 950m trial leading into his resumption two weeks ago over 1800m at Ascot and he loomed to win, but condition gave out late when third to Burning Pride. Up to 2000m and fitter, in the right stable, think he only runs well. Keen on his chances here.

6 Morning Song (Bet Now: $5.50) is flying this time in for Team Williams, winning three of her past four, the latest coming three weeks ago at Ascot where Chris Graham rode an absolute peach of a race on the mare, riding her with great patience before easing into clear air early on in the straight and finishing best. Harder here, but she’s going super.

1 Settler’s Creek (Bet Now: $41.00) is a huge query here. He is two weeks between runs for Colin Webster since racing over the mile at Ascot when down the track but far from disgraced behind Scoreline. Little bit of an unknown at 2000m, but if this becomes a sit/sprint, he does have the turn of foot to be dangerous here at likely decent odds.

Holly Locke does a fabulous job with a small team and the pin up horse for the camp is 1 Sweet Dreamin’ (Bet Now: $3.10), who has won three on the bounce. Latest win came over 1400m at Bunbury just under two weeks ago when toughing it out strongly and beating a well performed galloper in Gunnago. Back to 1200m looks no issue and Pike remains on.

3 King Blitz (Bet Now: $7.50) is a huge query here. Talented animal for Barry Newnham that resumes, having not raced since September 22 2018 when down the track at Belmont behind Lofty Lad after getting a fair way back in the run. Has had over 12 months off and comes here with just one trial under the belt, but can clearly win if he’s right.

4 Truth And Lies (Bet Now: $17.00) is a Luke Fernie trained mare that drops a fair bit in depth after contesting the Mungrup Stud Sprint at Albany when outclassed but far from disgraced behind Baraki Beats. Win prior at Bunbury was dominant and while she has to carry the weight here, I love the booking of Mitch Pateman, so there’s no dead weight for the horse.
