8/10/2022 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Eagle Farm, Queensland Cup day

Hard to get away from 1 Miss Coota (Bet Now: $1.90). She trialled here on Tuesday and went very well I thought, leading all the way under Huxtable, and seemingly moved very well. Horses that trial and race within a week I like, because it tells me the horse is thriving at home and isn’t lacking fitness. She’s the one.

3 Arabian Fox (Bet Now: $2.30) is a daughter of Pride Of Dubai for Lee Freedman that is on debut. She trialled at Deagon and gave them a spanking, leading throughout and winning by a space. Visually, she was sharp, but the time was quite plain. That’s the knock, but the race is thin.

5 Keyboard (Bet Now: $8.00) is a Lipp/Hahn filly that debuts off the back of a trial at Toowoomba. She was near the speed throughout, chasing Bedaub, and was no match for her late, but that was her first public hitout, so you’d assume there is improvement to come, and is bred to come to hand early, plus the winner of the trial won two weeks ago.

Like 9 Sunday Mail (Bet Now: $2.05) here for Lee Freedman. He led throughout to win a Deagon trial a few weeks ago and gee he looked to truck in front under Harrison. Seemingly had plenty left and although the time was slow, it could have been much quicker had he been extended. Market will tell you if he’s any good. I think he is good.

7 Risky Investment (Bet Now: $4.50) is a Tom Button trained colt that is on debut. He trialled here on Tuesday and though safely held in second, his last 50m and through the line was good work I thought for an early juvenile. This isn’t much of a race so he doesn’t need to be a world beater to measure up.

1 Mishani Cruise (Bet Now: $12.00) is a Les Ross trained juvenile that debuted two weeks back in the Pat O’Shea at Toowoomba and I liked the way he found the line late despite doing plenty wrong. He’ll take good improvement and albeit a short sample size, the Les Ross juveniles are showing a bit.

Very interesting runner is 4 Smirk (Bet Now: $4.20), first up for Chris Waller. Her last run came in the QLD Oaks where she was mighty in defeat from near last when fourth to Gypsy Goddess in a really good effort. Trial work has been strong and fresh at the mile tells me there is good intent.

8 Zou De Moon (Bet Now: $4.20) is capable. Four weeks between runs since contesting a Midway at Randwick where she was back in the run and was far from disgraced in defeat behind Mahagoni, who is a handy horse on his day. This isn’t a strong Class 6 and Jason Deamer has a good strike rate when coming to QLD.

6 Linthorpe Lad (Bet Now: $6.00) is a definite winning chance. He resumed two weeks back at Toowoomba and actually did a good job in a strong race won by Rubamos, beaten 2.4L. Fitter and up to the mile are two big ticks for him and the depth is a bit on the thin side, so I am not penning him.

5 Kokoro (Bet Now: $3.80) looks hard to beat. He’s been up a little while but is racing in very good form. The ride from J Mac helped him spank his rivals on Wyong Cup Day two back before racing here where he chased strongly from the back but was no match for Willinga Ruffio. No horse of that quality here and only has to hold his form to be around the mark.

12 First Son (Bet Now: $16.00) is a key chance. Garnett Taylor trained gelding that comes to town off the back of a strong win over the mile at the Sunny Coast. He was there to be beaten but he knuckled down strongly late to surge and get the win. Overall, this race is thin, so he commands respect off a last start win.

9 Rations (Bet Now: $8.50) can be an improver here for Barry Baldwin. He resumed at the Gold Coast on testing ground in what was essentially a prep run. He got back and was never a threat but did make up some headway. Tick over trial was good and he loves Eagle Farm. Big improver.

1 Exo Lady (Bet Now: $5.50) is a quality filly for Desleigh Forster that resumes. She hasn’t raced since the Brisbane Winter Carnival when close up and far from disgraced in the Bill Carter behind Stroll. Unbeaten fresh and 1200m first up tells me she’s forward enough to run well on the fresh side again.

10 Deer Trail (Bet Now: $4.20) commands respect. Debuted at the midweeks at Doomben where the market said she was there to win and despite taking a while to wind into her work, gee she let down nicely to round them up and win. Like her at 1200m on the bigger track and has more scope/upside than most.

11 Clairvue Molly (Bet Now: $5.00) should appreciate the bigge rtrack. Tony Gollan trained filly that ran in the Plundering race from a few weeks back at the Gold Coast and she was left flat footed when the sprint went on but she picked up and was good late to run second. Hard to beat I’d suggest.

If 3 Mohican Heights (Bet Now: $4.00) brings his form from down South, good luck beating him. He was very good without winning in Melbourne before going to the Colin Stephen at Rosehill when solid in defeat when fourth to Grove Ferry. Finds a very moderate race, he really should be winning all things being equal given the depth is quite thin.

1 Seat Of Power (Bet Now: $4.00) has been up forever it seems like but gee he’s racing well. He was there to be beaten in the Toowoomba Cup but as he has shown all prep, he found plenty under pressure to fend them off and win. 2400m should be fine, he’s tough, hard fit, in form…commands respect.

6 Sayl (Bet Now: $20.00) should be okay at 2400m. He comes through the Toowoomba Cupo where he got a fair way back in the run and was never really a threat but didn’t mind the way he finished his race off behind Seat Of Power. Smaller field, so he won’t be far away, and his best is good enough to be dangerous at odds.

Very interesting runner is 14 Alburq (Bet Now: $5.50). Formerly with Michael Moroney, he now finds himself with Brian Smith and we know this stable can get them ready fresh off a decent break. He’s only won the one race, but the form around him very reads well and liked a recent trial. Watch the market and see if it likes him.

Back up to 1200m I really like for 5 Uncle Russ (Bet Now: $8.50). Dominant win over 1200m at Ipswich two back before coming back to 1000m at Toowoomba and it was just an ugly watch if you were on. He had zero luck in the straight and should have finished much closer. Back up to 1200m, a more positive ride, he can bounce back.

7 Rammstein (Bet Now: $26.00) is capable with his best. Wide no cover at the midweeks at Warwick Farm and that was after bombing the start, so he had clear excuses. Forgive run fresh too after chasing a good tempo, so if you are a forgiving type, you can make a case for this guy at odds.

9 Battleton (Bet Now: $3.40) is a sneaky knockout hope. He resumed three weeks back here where he drew inside and couldn’t get involved on a day where off the fence was the spot to be. Good promise was shown in the Winter and stable is flying, so I am not penning him here.

1 Hasabro (Bet Now: $7.00) is bursting to win a race and he gets a great chance here. Three weeks between runs since racing at the Gold Coast when wide for the trip and despite that run, he kept finding and just missed out on the win when a narrow second to Stardome. Hard fit now at 1400m on the bigger track, I think he’s the main and perhaps only threat.

2 Greyworm (Bet Now: $14.00) will jump on the bunny and run well. He did that two weeks back in the Weetwood at Toowoomba and he gave a stack of cheek I thought when a close up fifth to Axe. The track last Saturday was suiting those on speed, so if that’s the case again, he’s a kncokout hope.

11 Aidensfield (Bet Now: $4.80) has a tag as a nonny, but she’s a good fresh horse and just maps so well off a fast speed. She resumes for Desleigh Forster, having not raced since June 1 at Doomben when leading and giving a good kick but was run down late by Maybe The Best. Resumes without a trial and I reckon sitting off a good tempo, she’ll be strong late.

1 Le Palmier (Bet Now: $6.00) is a key threat. He resumed over 900m at the Gold Coast and was chasing from the outset but ran through the pain barrier and was good late when second to surprise winner Princess Lunar. Good second up record and I think he saves his best for the track/distance. Leading contender.

5 Guntantes (Bet Now: $41.00) is a Rob Heathcoate trained gelding that resumes. He hasn’t raced since April 16 over 1500m here when back in the run and never fired, finishing down the track. He is a winner at the trip and despite being better suited over further, he has enough quality to be a kncokout hope.

4 I Am Lethal (Bet Now: $4.50) can bounce back hard. He resumed at Randwick where I was keen on him off the trial work but he led and didn’t fire a shot in a very plain effort. Back miles in grade/depth and I reckon with a more conservative steer, he can run a much improved race.

2 Zuma California (Bet Now: $4.00) has a tricky gate to overcome, but he’s heading in the right direction and can sit handy. He dug in strongly to win at the Gold Coast last time, but I will say he got the bob of the head and beat Safework, who is on the podium for the milk drinker of the year. Gets in well after the claim, just needs luck from the gate.

11 Red Bloom (Bet Now: $21.00) should be suited up to 1400m. She resumed two weeks back on her home track at Toowoomba over 1200m against the Mares. She got a fair way back in the run and was very good late without threatening behind the very much in form Self Indulgent. Bigger track, fitter, up to 1400m, she’s in the mix.

BEST BET: Race Ten Number 4 I Am Lethal

NEXT BEST: Race Six Number 3 Mohican Heights

LONG SHOT: Race Seven Number 14 Alburq
