Race 1. (12:52) Canadian Club Mdn Plate 1250m
12 Swycho (Bet Now: $3.20) is a very interesting runner. Former Kiwi that makes her Australian debut for Michael Hickmott. This girl did show promise when racing in New Zealand and the form around her does read well. Better suited over a bit further but this stable is very good when it comes to tried horses. Huge market watch.
10 Gumeracha Cracker (Bet Now: $4.80) has done little wrong this time in for Andrew Gluyas and is a mare that is knocking on the door. She ran a fortnight back at this track/distance when just off the speed and was there to win but couldn’t quite get there when third to The Golden Fist. Knocking on the door and strikes a winnable race.
11 Splash Landing (Bet Now: $12.00) hasn’t been too bad in two runs back. David Jolly trained mare that ran two weeks back here where she had a good run in transit and seemed to be dangerous on the turn but was a touch one paced in the straight but stayed on. Hard fit now and off the first up effort, I think she’s in with a shout at odds.
Race 2. (13:27) Spring Racing Carnival At Morphettville 1000m
3 I Miss Margie (Bet Now: $5.00) is a mare I want to give another chance to. Busuttin/Young trained mare that jumped out super prior to resuming at Caulfield where she chased a hot speed and was a beaten horse at the top of the straight, finishing last. Maps perfect and drops miles back in grade/depth.
7 Truly Elsa (Bet Now: $11.00) has done little wrong in two career outings and should prove hard to beat here for mine. Did more than enough on debut when third over 1100m at Murray Bridge before going to 900m there, produced sustained speed from near the front and was much too good. Hard to beat I say in what looks a thin race overall.
10 May’s West (Bet Now: $126.00) is an interesting runner. She comes here with fresh legs, having not raced since July 24 over 900m at Murray Bridge when off the speed and was okay enough in defeat but did have her chance behind impressive winner Kaido. Not sure she is good enough to win but can run top four.
Race 3. (14:02) Sportsbet (Rs0mw) 1950m
1 Flamin’ Romans (Bet Now: $1.90) is the straight bat play. Ciaron Maher trained gelding that ran over 2040m at The Valley last time out where he tried to make a sustained run from off the speed and was good in defeat despite not quite getting there when third to Lauding. Back to this level, he looks the winner if there is petrol left in the tank.
2 Sea Of Lights (Bet Now: $3.30) has done little wrong this time in for Team McEvoy and commands some level of respect. She has placed in five of her six runs this time in, the latest run being a third over 2100m at Sandown when near the speed and tried hard but couldn’t quite get there behind Commando Drift. Hard to knock how genuine she has been this prep.
4 Flying Assassin (Bet Now: $7.00) is heading in the right direction for Garret Lynch. Good in defeat here two back behind a Stakes class horse, A Samurai Mind, before going to 1800m at Murray Bridge where he relished the step up in trip and was quite dominant late. Harder here, but think he can measure up.
Race 4. (14:37) Sportsbet Set A Deposit Limit (Bm68) 2250m
7 Call Me Vexatious (Bet Now: $3.10) is on the seven day back up for Nicole Irwin after racing last Saturday over 1800m on the course proper. He was off speed throughout and made a sustained run, looming to win, but just didn’t have the finale to go with Morryl Moral, a Ciaron Maher galloper with good talent, so that form reads well and I do think a rise in trip suits.
Ciaron Maher has had good success when bringing horses to SA so you have to give respect to 2 Commander Harry (Bet Now: $3.30), who ran over 2040m at The Valley last time when leading and giving a decent enough kick but just felt the pinch late in a strong 78 won by stablemate Lauding. Back to this grade, he rates highly.
10 Tametomo (Bet Now: $23.00) is one at odds I could entertain. He ran two weeks back at this track/distance where he was absolutely trucking in the run and despite having a big SP, he looked the winner for a few strides but he couldn’t quite finish the race off. That said, he was far from disgraced in defeat behind Privileged Son. Not sure he wins, but a must for exotics.
Race 5. (15:12) Adelaide Galvanising Industries Hcp (C2) 1250m
All you can do is win and that is what 3 Quanah (Bet Now: $4.40) has done in two career outings. Lot to like about his debut win at Gawler before going here three weeks ago, leading throughout and was quite strong to the line in winning, beating On The Scent, an impressive winner last Saturday. Form reads well and you don’t know how good they are til they’re beaten.
5 Thunder Award (Bet Now: $4.50) is one of the leading contenders for the Kennewell/Yeomans camp. He ran over 1400m at Sandown last Wednesday when off speed and kept closing off in defeat in a good effort behind the in form Freak Of Nature. Maps perfect and the depth is nowhere near as deep so he’s hard to beat.
6 Nurys (Bet Now: $16.00) has come back in super order for David Huxtable and rates as one of the leading contenders. This mare is 2/2 this time in, winning the maiden fresh on the course proper here before going to Strathalbyn last Wednesday where she got into a dream spot and in a driving go, was too good. Hard to knock the way she’s going and rates highly for me.
Race 6. (15:47) Skycity (Bm78) 1250m
8 Cullen Skink (Bet Now: $14.00) is an improver on firmer footing for Clarken/O’Shea. He should have won comfortably two back at Murray Bridge but had zero luck in the straight. He then went here two weeks back and like some for the meeting, he couldn’t pick his feet up on the heavy ground behind Alpine Flyer. Keen to see him on firmer footing.
3 The Guava (Bet Now: $4.20) is flying this time in for Team Cahill and commands some form of respect. He has won two of three this time in, the latest run being a win fortnight back over 1400m here, getting the sweet sit in behind the speed before angling clear and he knuckled down with purpose late to win. Only has to hold his form to be around the mark.
1 Jacks On Ice (Bet Now: $11.00) is three weeks between runs for Team Jolly since resuming over 1000m here on testing ground. Market said he would need the run and that is how it panned out when down the track behind in form mare Lingani. Good track/distance record and I think on firmer footing, he takes beating and will run a much improved race.
Race 7. (16:27) Sportsbet Photo Finish Refund (Bm78) 1400m
5 Tapinforpar (Bet Now: $5.00) is on the seven day back up for Richards/Moyle after racing last Saturday over 1200m on the course proper here. He got back to near last in the run and while he was never a winning threat, he did make up ground and was good in defeat. Up in trip, good track/distance record, he appeals.
2 He’s Beset (Bet Now: $2.60) is a Nick Ryan trained gelding that comes here just under four weeks between runs since a dominant win at Echuca when given a 12/10 by Mott on a tricky track and the horse made an absolute mess of them. This isn’t a deep Saturday metro race, maps perfect…hard to beat.
1 Prince Jofra (Bet Now: $16.00) was once known as a swimmer but I reckon as he has got older, I think he’s a better horse on firmer footing. He bumped into a bog three weeks back over 1550m here and struggled to pick his feet up late in the piece behind Alpine Flyer. On a firmer deck, he’s a definite improver.
Race 8. (17:04) The Fotobase Group Hcp (64) 1000m
16 Desert Dancing (Bet Now: $5.00) is dangerous with her best. Clarken/O’Shea trained mare that ran a few weeks ago here on the course proper. She did work near the speed and tried her guts out but couldn’t quite sustain the gallop. I think with a more patient steer. she’s dangerous.
7 Qeyaady (Bet Now: $17.00) is a dry track specialist that takes beating if the weather is kind. He ran behind Winning Revolution three weeks ago and tried hard from just off the speed but couldn’t quite get there, finishing fourth. Firmer deck, racing well…commands respect.
8 Left Turn Clyde (Bet Now: $11.00) can run an improved race on firmer footing. Three weeks between runs since being second up at this track/distance where he struggled on the heavy ground so forgive and forget the run behind Winning Revolution. He loves dry ground so if that can eventuate here, he is a knockout chance at odds.
Race 9. (17:40) Grand Syndicates (Bm64) 1400m
1 Chambers Bay (Bet Now: $9.00) should take beating here for Phillip Stokes after a dominant track/distance win three weeks ago, getting the suck run in transit just off the speed before angling clear in the straight and he knuckled down with purpose late to win and win well. Creeping up in the relative weights but looks the one.
3 Headphones (Bet Now: $11.00) takes beating here I say. Judy Streets trained mare that ran a fortnight back at this track/distance in a strong and while she had a suck run in transit, had her chance, she stayed on and was pretty good in defeat The Guava. Sneaky flying this horse and strikes a winnable race IMO.
11 Free Vino (Bet Now: $9.00) is one to be given respect to. Three weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance. He had every chance from just off the speed and was there to win but couldn’t quite put them away when third to Chambers Bay. Consistent animal and should be around the mark.
