7/2/2026 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Ascot

Nine races have been set down for Ascot on Saturday for Cyril Flower Stakes Day. Weather is fine, track is good (4) and the rail is out nine metres for the entire circuit.

3 Double The Fun (Bet Now:  $SP.00) on top in what looks an open contest. He comes back to 1100m after a maiden win over 1300m last start at Pinjarra, giving them a start and a beating in an impressive effort. He’ll be strong late. Just hoping he doesn’t concede too much head start.

4 Just Walter John (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to 1100m after an arrogant win at Pinjarra two weeks ago over 1200m, leading throughout and he gave nothing else a look in. He should find the top and take running down.

6 Deepest Desire (Bet Now:  $SP.00) steps up to 1100m after debuting over 1000m at Bunbury on Australia Day. He got off speed and while he was never threatening, he kept chasing and was quite good in defeat when third. Better for the run and up in trip, he appeals.

3 Run Rupert Run (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Winning Rupert colt that debuts for Luke Fernie. He trialled on Tuesday at Belmont, winning over 400m and moved very nicely I thought. Stable can get a juvenile to fire so in a tricky race, I’ll be in his corner.

1 Boy Crush (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to 1000m after racing two weeks ago over 1200m here. He sat on speed and when he booted clear, he was hailed as the winner, only to be nabbed late. Like him back to 1000m, he takes beating.

5 London Rose (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was a forgive from two weeks back behind They’reallsisters, the same race that Boy Crush ran second in. This girl was wide no cover throughout and the hard run told. Doubt she wins, but she can run first four.

7 Rolling Ruler (Bet Now:  $SP.00) on top for me. He comes back to 1000m after racing over 1100m at Bunbury last start when doing early work to land near the speed and tried hard but couldn’t quite get there. Good weight relief with a kind map, he’s the straight bat play.

3 Santanova (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was an impressive winner three weeks ago at this track/distance, sitting off speed before being presented clear air and let down with real purpose late to win and win well. She’ll sit off a good speed again and launch late.

8 Niccimota (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was a total forgive from three weeks back behind Santanova, sitting wide no cover for the trip and the hard run told late. If she can get better luck in transit, she’s dangerous enough to take this out.

4 Lucky I Am (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should prove hard to beat. Four weeks between runs since racing over 1200m here when on speed throughout and tried hard but couldn’t quite see it through when second. Looks the leader and should take running down.

3 Leniency (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is on the quick back up after racing on Sunday at Bunbury when off speed and just whacked late. His best is clearly good enough to win so I wouldn’t be entirely dismissing him.

9 Bird’s The Word (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an interesting runner. He is first up, having not raced since Oct 18 over the mile here when never really a factor, looking a tired horse. 1200m is on the short side but he will be strong late if he’s fit. Watch betting.

10 Southern Firetail (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should love the rise to 1800m after racing over the mile two weeks ago here. He got a fair way out of his ground but I really liked the way he closed off when third. Extra 200m is ideal. Just needs to settle closer in the run.

1 Triple The Chant (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is bursting to win. She ran sixth in the race mentioned above, won by Great Fortune. She was badly held up behind them and it ended up being an ugly watch. 1800m should be fine and if the breaks go her way, she can win.

2 Butterflyrock (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to 1800m after racing over 1900m at Geraldton. She got back to near last in the run and was good late in the piece. Likely spots them a start but will be strong late…first four threat.

7 Audio Boy (Bet Now:  $SP.00) seems the straight bat play. He ran two weeks ago at this track/distance when off speed and held up at times but was good late when second to the in form Amazing Cheat. That horse isn’t here, he’s bursting to win…gets his chance here.

2 Planet Cash (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is flying and commands respect after a win last Wednesday over 1800m here, finding plenty under pressure to fend them off and score. The trip is a slight query but hard to knock how he’s racing.

5 Late Arrival (Bet Now:  $SP.00) steps up to 2200m after a placing over the mile last start to Planet Cash, who franked the form by winning last Wednesday. Has good upside compared to most…first four contender at a likely price.

3 Fancy Red (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has had two runs back from a spell at 1200m and is now looking for further, which she gets here. I thought she was a good thing last Saturday but she just race a touch flat. Love the rise to 1400m for her and hard fit now, I’m going to give her another chance.

7 Asif (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since resuming over 1200m here when wide no cover for the trip and tired late behind the in form Sonoftheboss. Maps much better to my eye and up to 1400m, he can run a much improved race.

2 Zephyra (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes here with fresh legs, having not raced since Dec 13 in the Starstruck when down the track behind Storyville. She’ll likely spot them a start but should be strong at the end. Knockout hope.

I think if 3 London’s Image (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is here to play, she’s clearly top seed. She had a two run prep during the Carnival, placing in the Crawford before a down the track effort in the Jungle Mist. Trialled up sharply for her return and I say she’s here to play.

6 Almighty Class (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Trevor Andrews trained gelding that resumes. He is first up, having not raced since April 26 when far from disgraced in The Joey on Quokka Day. Been given a good break and his recent trial was strong. Good lead too that Pike is booked.

7 Asphalt (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was a real find during the Spring/Summer, winning a host of races before a game third in the Carbine Club to Cosmic Crusader. 1200m is on the short side but he’s a very genuine animal. Watch betting.

1 Battle Commander (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is flying and has to be considered top seed here after a win last Saturday at this track/distance in the Ascot Mile, leading throughout and he gave nothing else a look in. Front end control, he’s going to take a power of running down.

2 Cashel Palace (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was beaten a lip at this track/distance last Saturday. She got off speed and worked home with real purpose, the difference between winning and losing being the bob of the head. Hard to beat I say against these.

3 Desennea (Bet Now:  $SP.00) ran fourth to Redbank Flyer last Saturday in the same race that Cashel Palace contested. He got into a decent spot in transit and wound up gamely but couldn’t quite get there. Not sure he’s good enough to win but can run first four.

LONG SHOT: Race Eight Number 3 London’s Image
