Race 1. (11:40) The Fotobase Group Mdn Plate 1800m
4 Hit The Slopes (Bet Now: $SP.00) on top but not a betting race. Clarken/O’Shea trained gelding that has been getting back and running on in recent times, the latest over 1500m at Gawler where he was never really a winning threat but I didn’t mind the way he found the line behind Burning Bright. Racing like a rise in trip will suit and there is just no depth to this.
9 Mr George (Bet Now: $SP.00) has less convictions than most and is in form. Latest run came over 2000m at Naracoorte where he got back, wide with cover, before making a midrace sustained move and tried his guts out but couldn’t quite see it through when second to Namadji. Think with a more economical run in transit, he’ll be around the mark.
1 Call Me Al (Bet Now: $SP.00) is one to be included as a chance. He finished down the track in the Burning Bright race mentioned above at Gawler. He got too far back in the run and while he did make up some ground he was never a factor, beaten just over six lengths. 1800m, I think, will be okay, and in a thin race, he is a must for multiples.
Race 2. (12:15) Skycity Mdn Plate 1050m
6 Putanothercoinin (Bet Now: $SP.00) is the way I am leaning. He resumes for Team Jolly after two runs during the Adelaide Carnival in the latter part of the Autumn when down the track in a couple of Stakes races. Given a good break and I thought he moved quite well in a trial here last week. Lands in a plum spot from the inside gate and in a thin race, happy to be in his corner.
5 Fast Bubbles (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a son of Hellbent on debut for the Francis/Kent camp. He is having start and trialled in the same heat mentioned above, where he ran third, just ahead of Putanothercoinin. The key being that horse was under light/no riding while this guy was pushed right out, so that’s the slight query, but I think watch the market and see what it does.
12 I’m Sensational (Bet Now: $SP.00) is one that can be entertained for wider multiples. She debuted on Gawler Cup Day where she got back in the run and made up minimal headway behind impressive winner Nasho. Blinkers on to sharpen her up and in a thin race, I think triple figure odds for this girl is a bit of overs. Can certainly be entertained.
Race 3. (12:55) San Remo Mdn Plate 1050m
6 Great Maximus (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks one of the better bets on the program. Team Jolly can get a first starter to fire and they have this gelding humming for the debut IMO. He was the standout at the trials here last week, sitting on speed throughout before being clicked up and under no riding, gee he moved like a nice horse. Anything over $2, bet and bet with confidence. Keen.
5 Care Too Much (Bet Now: $SP.00) seemingly has a bit to learn still but I think he has an engine under the hood. He is on debut for Francis/Kent after trialling here last week where he was on speed throughout and was all over the shop under the young apprentice but he won the trial well with something in hand. Not sure he beats Great Maximus but runs well regardless.
12 Ediva (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a daughter of Nicconi on debut for Chris Bieg. She trialled here last week here when on speed and was ridden out, wanting to see a response, and it didn’t quite work out, tiring to run fifth. But, the stable can get them to fire off trials like that so I reckon watch the market and see what it does with her.
Race 4. (13:32) Drink Wise Mdn Plate 1200m
Leaning the way of 3 Geeijo (Bet Now: $SP.00) for Team Jolly. He has been solid in two career outings, running well on debut behind Wiggum on Murray Bridge Cup Day before going to Gawler where he got back off the speed and found the line very well late in the piece when second to Nasho. He’s getting better with racing IMO and up to 1200m, can settle closer, he’ll take beating.
11 Six Stars (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a stablemate of Geeijo that is the key threat. Runner up on debut at Murray Bridge before going here where she contested a strong 66 and just found them a bit sharp but was far from disgraced in defeat behind Deepfloat Diva. Back to maiden grade, Pannell steers, she’s easily likeable.
14 Stupendous (Bet Now: $SP.00) gets the Blinkers on first time, which I think will sharpen her up enough to say she’s dangerous at odds. She ran in a 1200m maiden at Balaklava last time out when on speed throughout and tried her guts out but couldn’t quite finish the job behind In Her Sights. Has the right racing style, Blinkers on, hard fit, she’ll give cheek I am sure.
Race 5. (14:10) Antonio & Elisabeth Romeo Hcp (64) 2035m
1 Whatsnamegeorge (Bet Now: $SP.00) won’t know himself in a race as thin as this. He ran over this track/distance last time in a strong 74 and seemingly had his chance but was far from disgraced in defeat behind a handy animal, Silent Surrente. Back miles in grade/depth, I think he only has to hold his form to be taking this out.
12 Applied (Bet Now: $SP.00) is racing like he will eat up 2000m. He ran over 1800m a few weeks back at Murray Bridge where he did his thing of getting back to near last in the run and made up a stack of ground in a good effort behind surprise winner Jaywick, who was lapped next start, so how strong is that form? Not sure, but gee this race is very much on the thin side.
8 Chartin (Bet Now: $SP.00) is one I can entertain at odds. He ran over 2000m a few weeks back here when contesting a 0MWLY race. He landed on speed and gave a solid kick but couldn’t quite see it through behind Lights Of Broadway, but was only beaten five lengths and was far from disgraced. Back to this level I like and I think with a more economical steer, he can run a much improved race.
Race 6. (15:20) Thomas Farms Hcp (58) 1529m
6 Just Joking (Bet Now: $SP.00) should prove hard to beat if she’s within range. She has the engine under the hood but she gets a mile out of her ground and spots those in front too much head start. Latest run was over the mile at Balaklava where she got a mile back and was never a factor but I really liked the way she found the line late. Hopefully can settle closer in the run and still be effective at the end.
5 Charm Slinga (Bet Now: $SP.00) is knocking on the door to win for John Hyam. This gelding ran over 1400m on the Parks track here last time out where the track pattern was clearly against him but I thought he kept on and finished the race nicely behind Free Vino, who was backed as if unbeatable. The rise in trip should be fine and from the gate, he will get every chance. Hard to beat.
4 Caliburn (Bet Now: $SP.00) is an improver at odds. He is a couple of weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance when down the track in a plain effort behind Sir Kingsford, who won again last Saturday, so the form reads very well, and I thought the tick over trial last week at Oakbank from Caliburn was a nice piece of work. At odds, he can run an improved race.
Race 7. (16:02) Piper Heidsieck Champagne (Rs0ly) 1800m
3 Dazzling Prospect (Bet Now: $SP.00) is short enough but surely he has a bit on these. Market wanted him with confidence when racing at Gawler last time and those who jumped out, they knew what they were doing, giving them an absolute spanking over 1700m and was very strong to the line. Off that, an extra 100m should be fine and the depth here…there is none. Should win.
8 Micklewhite (Bet Now: $SP.00) is several weeks between runs since racing over this trip on Murray Bridge Cup Day where he got back to near last in the run and while he did make up ground, he was never really a factor behind Jaywick. The break between runs I find interesting but I think he has the engine to run well.
11 Vee Rod (Bet Now: $SP.00) gets the Blinkers back on and I think he can be an improver. Forgiving of the run at Strathalbyn given he was wide no cover throughout and he just felt the pinch late behind Bit Of A Rebel. Up in trip, Blinkers on to sharpen up and with a better run in transit, he can run a much improved race.
Race 8. (16:45) Grand Syndicates (Bm66) 1200m
4 Street Delight (Bet Now: $SP.00) has finally found winning form and she can go on with it. Runner up on a couple of occasions on the bounce before racing on the course proper a few weeks ago where she gave them a start and a beating, finishing best in a driving go to win narrowly but impressively. Her confidence is up and she seems to have found another very winnable race.
9 Lady Simone (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Team Jolly trained mare that has solid form lines around her. She ran a couple of weeks ago here when near the speed throughout and presented to win but couldn’t quite finish it off behind the stablemate Aviatress, who will go around as a leading chance at Flemington on Oaks Day in a Stakes race, so the form reads well and the depth here isn’t as deep.
6 Disco Tilmorn (Bet Now: $SP.00) has been a ripping mare for Darryl Dodson for some time and is a must for exotics here. She ran behind Lovely Lookin’ several weeks back on the Parks track and was chasing from the outset. She tried hard but was no match for the filly and tired late to finish fourth. She then went to Naracoorte and was solid in defeat from near the speed behind Yardstick. I think with a more conservative steer, she can run an improved race.
Race 9. (17:25) Crane Services (Bm62) 1100m
4 Sabermetric (Bet Now: $SP.00) on top but this race is going through to the keeper. He is a couple of weeks between runs since racing over 1200m here where he seemingly had every chance near the speed but couldn’t quite get there when a narrow third to Anjopin, who backed up a week later and won again. He is a two time track/distance winner and IMO 1100m is better than 1200m. Dangerous.
15 The General Public (Bet Now: $SP.00) is the one on the up that comes here off a win. Debuted with a solid effort behind subsequent winner Aztec Dancer before going to Port Lincoln for a kill and duly got it. Tick over trial was a decent piece of work and drawn out, think they’ll slide across and with one turn, sitting wide is not a major issue. Leading chance.
1 Munster (Bet Now: $SP.00), I think, has a class edge to command respect. Proven Saturday metro performer that looks hard to beat against these. Few weeks between runs after racing over 1100m at Strathalbyn where he kept finding the line from off the speed in a good effort when third to Valaroc. Loves the track and stable is in form. He’s one of the leading contenders.
Race 10. (18:09) Rexco People (Bm58) 1050m
2 Old Time Rock (Bet Now: $SP.00) will do me in the get out. Andrew Clarken trained gelding that ran over this track/distance last time out where he got too far back in the run and made up solid headway without threatening behind impressive winner Sghirripa. No horse of that quality here and back to a very moderate 58, he’s the way I am heading in the last.
5 Zufasta (Bet Now: $SP.00) tends to save his best for this track so returning here, he’s quite dangerous. He ran over 1100m on Gawler Cup Day where he seemingly had every chance from behind the speed and couldn’t quite get there behind Rose Ring. Blinkers back on to try and sharpen him up and back to this level, he appeals.
6 Jimmys Edge (Bet Now: $SP.00) is an improver at odds. He resumed last Saturday on the Parks track where he was in need of the run, just having no early toe so forget he went around behind Foster Street. Good second up record, jockey upgrade, can settle much closer in the run and be around the mark. Dangerous at odds.
