6/11/2021 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Ascot, Lee Steere Stakes day

Nine races will be run and won at Ascot this Saturday where it is Lee Steere Stakes Day. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out nine metres for the entire circuit.

I’ll take a chance with 10 Street Parade (Bet Now: $7.00) in the opener. This guy has had three trials to get ready for start one. Won the second trial over 1000m at Belmont before winning a 400m Lark Hill trial on Monday. Inside gate with early toe, I think he’ll run a positive race.

4 Snowdome (Bet Now: $2.60) looks to have talent. I was on his back when he debuted here two weeks ago and while he was badly held up, I thought he was out in time to threaten when second. Proper clear air this time around and he’ll be hard to beat I’d suggest against these.

3 Kosta’s Crown (Bet Now: $7.50) is racing like he will eat up the extra 100m. He contested the same race that Snowdome ran in. He was back near last in the run and never really a factor but was good late and looked like a horse that will appreciate more ground, which he gets here. Winkers on first time, he’ll be a leading contender.

9 The Lady Is A Vamp (Bet Now: $11.00) on top in what looks a tidy race. Strong maiden winner at Northam last time out and she ran very good time in getting the job done. Hopefully gate one is used to advantage and if so, I think she’ll take beating against this lot.

2 Advanced (Bet Now: $4.20) is a Team Williams three year old that also comes here as a last start winner over 1100m at Northam. He was strong in winning, but relative times, and yes he was on a Soft6 compared to Good4, his overall time was much slower than the time The Lady Is A Vamp ran, so he needs to improve, but in the right camp to do so.

5 Roey Clam (Bet Now: $10.00) has had early interest, which I find intriguing. Had two juvenile runs in the Autumn and the second run, he was good late from the back. Thought he trialled up well at Belmont to get ready and with the scratchings, the depth has decreased somewhat.

4 Reliable Star (Bet Now: $4.80) looks like she will eat up the trip. Few weeks between runs since racing over the mile here where she was building the revs nicely but then got chopped out of a run late. Tick over trial was a good piece of work and the big tick is getting out in trip.

1 Pure Devotion (Bet Now: $2.00) is a progressive mare that is heading in the right direction and is suited out to a staying trip. Lovely ride from Pike saw her win here last time out and was strong to the line. Gets in well after the claim and I think has to be respected here.

6 Ripon Falls (Bet Now: $10.00) is rising in grade/depth but he’s racing in really good form at the moment for Kieran McDonagh. Has put together a couple of wins on the bounce, the latest coming here in a pretty weak race, but was strong to the line in getting the job done. Needs to improve, but no reason why he can’t.

I was very impressed by the win of 1 Castillo Del Lago (Bet Now: $3.50) two weeks ago over 1500m here. He was a month between runs but was ridden very positively by Parnham, and the horse just kept going, giving his rivals a spanking by over four lengths. You’d like to think there is only improvement and the extra weight is no issue.

3 Secret Statue (Bet Now: $4.40) is racing like the mile will suit. Team Williams gelding that ran over 1400m here last Saturday and made up okay ground without threatening behind God Has Chosen. Should land in a plum spot from the draw and with Pike steering, he’ll take beating.

9 Poulton Le Sands (Bet Now: $18.00) will appreciate a rise in trip with time, so staying at the mile is the negative with him, but he does bring some okay form from NSW with him and the resumption over this track/distance wasn’t too bad. I doubt he wins, but he can sneak a first four spot.

6 Vadette De Star (Bet Now: $4.80) for me. Simon Miller trained mare that resumed at this track/distance three weeks ago and was very good from the back behind a quality horse, Triple Missile. Just spotted them too much head start. Hopefully can get a drag into the race and launch at these late.

9 Bopping Blue (Bet Now: $4.80) is a talented three year old for Adam Durrant that resumes. Interesting he resumes against the older horses, but good lead that the stable gets Pike to steer for the return. Showed good promise as a juvenile and looks a jump/run type so the 1000m fresh I like and looks to be tuned right up with three trials to get ready.

1 Weaponson (Bet Now: $26.00) is a knockout chance dropping a fair way back in overall depth. The top two look hard to beat, but outside that, it looks quite even. This guy has been contesting some strong races this prep where he hasn’t been suited. With the claim and soft draw, expect a better showing.

Holly Watson is a very good apprentice when it comes to riding front runners so her being booked for 4 Lorentinio (Bet Now: $8.00) I do like. Resumed over 1400m here two weeks ago when attempting to lead throughout and gave a strong kick but just felt the pinch late behind Comfort Me. Fitter and up in trip, with a jockey upgrade, he’ll take beating from the front.

3 Comfort Me (Bet Now: $2.70) has to be respected. He was a dominant winner of that race mentioned above, sitting on speed before being clicked up in the straight, and despite doing a bit wrong, he was far too good late. Not sure he gets as good of a set up this time around but commands respect.

9 Proconsent (Bet Now: $9.00) is a query at the trip, but hard to dismiss the thought process of Adam Durrant. Ran over 1200m here a few weeks ago and did make ground from the back but was never really a threat. The rise in trip is interesting but respecting the stable and the jockey booking.

8 Devoted (Bet Now: $3.80) for me. Team Williams trained gelding that has been strong in two career runs. Impressive debut win before racing here where he was game in defeat when third to Buzzoom, a dominant winner of the Burgess Queen on Tuesday, so the form reads well.

3 It’sarayday (Bet Now: $1.85) has done little done in his short career to date for Simon Miller. Looked sharp when a debut winner. Thrown straight in the deep end in the Belgravia and ran a super race behind Searchin Roc’s, who went super in the Burgess Queen. The query is 1400m but a soft gate helps.

10 Passion Prince (Bet Now: $26.00) is a stablemate of Devoted that is being thrown straight in the deep end. Was a narrow win on debut over 1100m at Northam but I did like the way he knuckled down late, surging hard to get up. Not sure he’s good enough to win but is a first four threat.

4 The Velvet King (Bet Now: $4.60) only runs well here to my eye. He’s a beauty that resumes and kicks off his Carnival in what looks a winnable race. He’s a bomb fresh horse and a bomb 1400m horse. Three trials to get ready and from the draw, I think he has to go close to winning.

1 Regal Power (Bet Now: $4.00) looks back. Jury was out but the resumption in the Northerly was full of merit and the signs are there that Team Williams have him back. The finale was good and is screaming of a horse wanting further. Might need this en rise to the Railway, but is the class runner.

9 Kay Cee (Bet Now: $11.00) has an excellent second up record and I think can be dangerous here at odds. She resumed in the Northerly and while she was never really a threat, her finale was good for a horse that wants further. Not sure she wins, but a must for exotics.

5 Angelic Miss (Bet Now: $7.50) for me in the get out. Simon Miller trained mare that was an explosive first up winner here two weeks ago, producing a brilliant finale from the back to win and win impressively. The wide gate doesn’t worry me as she gets back anyway. Just needs a drag into the race and I think she’ll finish over the top.

14 Bright Diamond (Bet Now: $3.30) is the key threat. Resumed over 1000m here where she didn’t quite get the rub of the green in the straight, but that being said, she was no threat to knocking off dynamic winner Wilchino. Like her up to 1200m…but she has becoming a bit costly from a punting perspective.

16 Solarize (Bet Now: $13.00) hasn’t exactly set the world on fire when coming to town but he’s a gelding in career best form and deserves another crack. Lot of quality about his win last start at Kalgoorlie over 1200m and ran sharp time in doing so. Knockout chance if things fall into place.
