SA metro racing on Saturday heads to Gawler. The weather is fine, the track is soft (7) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (12:07) Sportsbet Racing Cash Out Mdn Plate 1200m
6 Intonation (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a key chance. He is a son of Holler that is on debut for Michael Hickmott. He has looked strong in trial/jumpout work for start one, including a trial placing at Morphettville Parks. Stable can get them ready for a debut, so watch betting.
13 Stolen Kiss (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should take beating after resuming a fortnight back at Morphettville. She got back in the run and while she spotted those in front a start, she worked home with real purpose I thought when third to Kalosyni. Fitter, up in trip, she takes beating.
1 Aromoso (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) ran second two weeks back at Morphettville. He attempted to lead throughout and gave a strong kick from the front but just couldn’t quite see it through when second to Kalosyni. 1200m is fine, good racing style…can win, but for me, he is more of a first four contender.
Race 2. (12:42) Kingsford Hotel Hcp (C1) 1200m
1 Dampen (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a son of Impending that is first up for Byron Cozamanis. This guy hasn’t raced since March 8 over 1200m at Murray Bridge when placing in the Magic Millions behind Ole Dancer. His trial/jumpout work has been strong, I’d watch betting and see what it does.
9 Violet Lovebug (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes to metro level for Travis Doudle after a sharp win on debut at Balaklava when near the speed and looked to be trucking before being clicked up and away she went to win and win well. Good racing style, she takes beating against these.
8 Galileo Gold (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a threat if he does everything right. He didn’t do everything right three weeks ago at Murray Bridge, bombing the start by eight lengths and that sealed his fate when down the track behind subsequent Oaklands Plate winner Matahga. Clean jump, he’s dangerous for sure.
Race 3. (13:17) Matrix Solar Solutions (Rs0-Ly) 1700m
2 Oxford Blue (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a very interesting runner. Formerly with Matt Laurie, he now finds himself with Stephen Theodore, who is establishing himself as a very good trainer with tried horses. His latest run came on May 17 at Flemington when looking a tired horse behind Politely Dun. Back in trip, back to this level, he appeals.
1 Under The Cone (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is four weeks between runs since racing over 1550m at Morphettville Parks. He got into a decent spot off speed before being presented clear air and was there to threaten but on the testing track, he just whacked in the run to the line. Firmer deck, he’s a definite improver, especially up in trip.
4 Mark Of The Man (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a key threat. Aaron Purcell trained gelding that is on the seven day back up after racing last Saturday at Morphettville Parks. He attempted to lead throughout and gave a strong kick from the front but just couldn’t quite see it through when second to Test The Law. Good racing style, he’s dangerous.
Race 4. (13:52) Magain Fielke Real Estate Gawler (Bm74) 1100m
1 The Great Baby (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Francis/Kent trained gelding that is a few weeks between runs since resuming at Murray Bridge. He landed near the speed and he tried his guts out but just couldn’t quite see it through behind Sir Now, who won again last Saturday, so the form reads super and has good upside to come.
2 Validated (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes back to 1100m after racing over 1400m at Murray Bridge three weeks ago. He got a suck run in transit and presented to win early on in the straight but just couldn’t quite get there late behind Maracourt. Fast run 1100m, he can launch late.
6 Vintage Star (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is racing well for Team Jolly and is good enough to take out a race like this. He ran behind Sir Now a few weeks back when off speed, getting a decent run in transit, and tried hard but just felt the pinch late. He can win for sure with his best.
Race 5. (14:27) Gawler Arms Hotel (Bm66) 1500m
10 Lomax (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks to have returned really well and rising to 1500m should be ideal after a first up effort over 1200m at Murray Bridge three weeks ago where he was a real eye catcher from the back, closing with real purpose behind Talkin Italian. He’ll spot them a start but within range, he has the finale to win.
6 Proven Correct (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is four weeks between runs for Andrew Gluyas since racing over 1400m at Morphettville Parks. He got into a lovely spot in transit and was there to threaten but just whacked on the testing track so forgive and forget. Firmer deck, he’s an improver.
11 Wild Willy (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is on the seven day back up after racing last Saturday at Morphettville Parks. He got struck wide no cover for the trip and the early burn just told late in the piece behind Streetcar Apollo but was far from disgraced. If that hasn’t busted him, he can threaten.
Race 6. (15:07) Hooker Property Specialists (Bm66) 1500m
1 Stirrup Cup (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is racing really well at present for Sarah Rutten. He got a peach ride and a strong finale to win a fortnight back at Morphettville, producing a good turn of foot when asked to score. Creeping up in the relative weights but hard to knock the way he’s racing.
5 Big Brute… (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) does he sleep with the lights on? He ran behind Stirrup Cup two weeks back at Morphettville. He got into a decent spot it appeared in the run but when it came to the finale, he was quite weak late in the piece. His best is good enough…but he is becoming hard to trust.
4 Showmara (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is capable for Shane Nicholls. He ran third in the Stirrup Cup race. He got back off speed and kept chasing with purpose in a good effort in defeat, beaten under a length. Think with a more positive ride, he’s dangerous.
Race 7. (15:42) Sanders Fodder (Bm62) 1700m
5 Chance Taken (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is three weeks between runs for Chris Bieg since a first up win at Murray Bridge three weeks ago, getting a beaut run in transit before being angled for clear air and let down nicely late to win and win well. Fitter and up to 1700m, he rates highly.
7 Wine Barron (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is hit and miss but his best is clearly good enough to take this out. He has been freshened up since May 24 when leading and tiring badly late behind Crown Mint. His best is clearly good enough so watch betting.
6 Shakespeare (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is one for exotics. He ran behind Magnetic Edge two weeks back at Morphettville. He got a fair way out of his ground and while he was never a winning threat, I didn’t mind the way he finished his race off in defeat. Racing well I feel and this isn’t a deep contest.
Race 8. (16:22) Holdfast Insurance Brokers (Bm64) 1200m
4 Sign From Above (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should be better for the first up run, which came over this trip at Morphettville. He lobbed wide no cover on speed throughout and tried hard but just couldn’t quite see it through in a good effort. If that hasn’t busted him, he takes beating.
9 Even Sharper (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is bursting to win and he gets a great chance here. He ran over 1250m last Saturday at Morphettville Parks. He got off speed before being presented clear air and worked home strongly late when second to Nicish. This isn’t a deep race, he’ll be strong late…he gets a great chance.
3 Clarence (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a query at 1200m but he’s racing as if he will be fine at it. He ran over 1050m two weeks back at Morphettville where he got to near last in the run and kept chasing with purpose in a solid effort in defeat behind Hajra. If he’s within range, he has the finale to win.
Race 9. (17:00) Contract Engineering (Bm64) 1200m
13 Endless Forevers (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks a smart filly for Michael Hickmott and I think she can resume a winner. She hasn’t raced since her debut at Balaklava back on Feb 23 when getting the suck run in behind before angling clear and knuckled down with purpose late to win and win well. Given a good break and her trial work to get ready has been strong.
2 Nurys (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is dangerous. She dropped back to Provincial grade at Bordertown last time and she reacted to it, giving them a start and a beating in a very impressive performance. Her confidence is up, she can certainly go on with it here.
6 Xtramagic (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is first up for Paul Preusker and is dangerous. This mare hasn’t raced since April 30 when racing during the Warrnambool Carnival and struggled on the bog behind Call To Glory. Good fresh horse and strikes a winnable race.
