A bumper ten race program has been assembled for Pinjarra on Sunday (postponed from Saturday) for Magic Millions Day. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (13:25) Tabtouch Pinjarra Cup 3/4 Mdn 1000M
10 Balamani (Bet Now: $4.20) on top for me. Steele Casey trained mare that resumes, having not raced since her debut here back in April when back in the ruck and making up okay ground late when fifth. Has been given a good break and has trialled up nicely at Lark Hill in readiness for her return. Happy to be in her corner.
3 Nitro Fred (Bet Now: $2.70) is a son of Alfred Nobel that resumes. This guy last raced a5 Northam back in September when looking a tired horse, finishing fifth. Looked to go about his business nicely in a Belmont trial and gets Chris Parnham for his return. Market will tell you if he’s ready.
8 Northwood (Bet Now: $26.00) is an interesting runner. Has predominantly on the dirt in a 17 start career so on form, I say no, but she did look sharp in a recent trial win. I’d include her in wider multiples purely off the trial because on race day form, I say she struggles.
Race 2. (15:04) Westspeed Platinum (rs0mw) 1300M
9 Gallant Ranger (Bet Now: $4.00) is flying this time in for Michael Lane and no reason why he can’t make it 3/3 to start the prep. Big win from off the speed to win at Belmont last Wednesday, defying a notable betting drift. Back to 1300m no issue and Kyra Yuill does seem to really click with this horse this time in.
4 Halatorian (Bet Now: $11.00) is on the seven day back up for Roy Rogers after racing last Saturday at Ascot when back to 1000m. He landed on speed and tried hard, but couldn’t quite finish it off when fourth to Express Time. Like him back up in trip and prior form was quite good.
1 Scooter’s Machine (Bet Now: $9.00) drops a fair bit in class/depth after contesting the Mungrup Sprint at Mount Barker last time out where he attempted to lead throughout and gave a solid kick but just tired late behind Mini Winnie. That form has to read well for a race like this.
Race 3. (15:35) Neometals (rs1mw) 2000M
9 Watch Me Ney Ney (Bet Now: $6.00) is flying for Dan Morton, deserves a win this time in and I think he gets a great chance here. Ran over 1800m last Monday at Ascot and attacked the line with real purpose, just missing out on the win when second to Our Norman. Should eat up 2000m, has upside to come, in form…all points to him.
5 Off Wego (Bet Now: $5.50) is knocking on the door to win one. I was quite keen on it coming at Mount Barker last start and he was given a peach by CJP. Just no match for Chiclett. Proven metro performer and I think that run last time will toughen him up for this.
10 Belafonte Boy (Bet Now: $41.00) is one I could include for wider multiples at a big price. On the quick back up after somewhat of a plain effort here on Sunday. Never really looked likely and that has been the case in his career for the most part but he does get the Blinkers back on, which could spark improvement.
Race 4. (16:15) Tabtouch-better Your Bet-rs1mw 2000M
9 Prized Miss (Bet Now: $3.50) is the pony to bet on for me. Adam Durrant trained mare that ran over 1800m last Monday at Ascot and worked to the line pretty well from off the speed without threatening when fourth to Our Norman. The 2000m looks ideal for her and gets a suck run from the draw.
6 Our Norman (Bet Now: $9.00) is a query at the trip but he will put himself on speed and give himself every chance to see it out. He got the front in the race mentioned above, pinched a cheap furlong or two, and found in the straight to win. If he gets a similar set up, 2000m should be okay.
11 Sembello (Bet Now: $34.00) is the map horse, either leading or box seating. Attempted to lead throughout over 1800m here last time and gave a solid kick, but couldn’t quite see it through when third to Acting God. Has a good track/distance record, so that keeps her in the mix.
Race 5. (16:45) Bunbury Apartment Motel-rs1mw 1000M
14 Via Monte (Bet Now: $4.00) looks one of the better bets on the card. He ran last Monday at Ascot over 1100m and worked to the line quite nicely from off the speed when second to Spin The Knife, who I think will win later in the meeting, so I am banking on that form being strong and back to 1000m looks a big tick.
5 Olga Luisa (Bet Now: $23.00) is a proven straight track performer who did win at this track/distance first up. She then raced at Ascot last Monday when near the speed throughout and battled on okay behind This’ll Testya. Back to the scene, she’s in with a chance.
I doubt 12 Tycoon Legend (Bet Now: $41.00) wins but I can certainly entertain him for wider multiples. He was good late without threatening last start at Ascot behind Holy Ghost, beaten just over a couple of a lengths. Draws the right part of the track and will be strong at the end.
Race 6. (17:15) Wa Pearl Classic (bm66+) 1300M
6 Miss Vasari (Bet Now: $2.90) on top in what looks a solid edition of the Pearl Classic. Was a few weeks between runs when racing over 1200m at Ascot last start and just got held up at a vital stage before eventually getting clear and working home strongly when second to Holy Ghost. Fitter, back to Mares grade, she’ll take beating.
3 Lipsick Flickers (Bet Now: $6.00) commands respect. She resumed in the Mungrup Sprint at Mount Barker where I thought CJP gave her a peach and she was there to win. Just couldn’t quite put it away when second to Mini Winnie. Better for the run, she’s a key threat here.
1 Born To Try (Bet Now: $14.00) is better suited over a bit further, but she does bring somewhat of a class edge. Hasn’t raced since September 25 when midfield over 2100m at Belmont behind Sugar Cain. She’s a mare who can sprint well fresh, so despite no public trials, I’d watch the market.
Race 7. (17:45) MAGIC MILLIONS WA 3YO TROPHY 1200M
1 Spin The Knife (Bet Now: $1.55)…just how good is he? He spanked them last Monday when first up, lumping 60.5kg and making an absolute mess of them in such an impressive return. The question being, can he stretch his brilliance to 1200m? If that box is ticked here, which I think it will be, then surely consideration has to be on the agenda for a trip to Melbourne. He’s well above average.
2 Red Fifty Three (Bet Now: $8.00) is a son of Gingerbread Man for Grant Williams that resumes. 3/3 to start his career, which came in the Spring with three impressive wins at Belmont. Trialled up really well last week at Lark Hill and will prove hard to beat with luck from the draw.
Back to 1200m is a big tick for 10 Gorgeous Gossip (Bet Now: $46.00). Ran over 1400m last time when on speed and tried her guts out but couldn’t quite finish it off when third to Hear Me Sing. I think 1200m suits her better. I doubt she wins, but I think she is one for multiples.
Race 8. (18:15) MAGIC MILLIONS WA 2YO CLASSIC 1200M
He’ll need luck from the gate, but if he gets it, then 2 Street Parade (Bet Now: $3.60) is clearly the one to beat here. Resumed last Monday at Ascot where he got back in the run but tracked up nicely and on the turn, looked the winner, but first up, condition just gave out late. Fitter, if he gets three wide cover, he’s the one to beat for sure.
9 She’s Greysful (Bet Now: $5.00) has that sense of timing about her. Arguably should have won on debut before making amends in the race mentioned above, finishing best late and was strong in getting the job done. Off that, no issue with 1200m and maps to get an ideal run.
12 Celebrity Icon (Bet Now: $16.00) is one I can entertain for wider multiples. She debuted last Wednesday at Belmont over this trip and was quite good from off the speed I thought behind impressive winner Saintorio. Should do no work from the draw and if this becomes a testing 1200m, she is in with a shout.
Race 9. (18:50) GEISEL PARK MILE 1600M
Good race over the mile. Just leaning the way of 6 Beret (Bet Now: $4.20), who comes here five weeks between runs since taking out the La Trice at Ascot on Perth Cup Day, under a peach from CJP, who remains on here, and I dare say he would have had the choice on a few of these, so despite the break between runs, I think that is the lead.
7 Proconsent (Bet Now: $4.00) has gone to a new level since joining Adam Durrant. He knuckled down strongly to win last Monday at Ascot under CJP, finishing best in a driving go. Paul Harvey goes on and he is riding in super form at the moment, so while he loses CJP, he does get an able replacement.
5 Stafford’s Lad (Bet Now: $31.00) comes here with fresh legs, five weeks between runs since contesting the Perth Cup where he was far from disgraced in defeat from near last in the run behind Midnight Blue. Two time winner at Pinjarra and if they go silly in front, he’ll be one of the strongest late.
Race 10. (19:20) I'm All The Talk (bm72+) 1200M
7 Comes A Time (Bet Now: $7.00) in the get out. If you were on his back last Monday, apologies for bringing up the nightmare. He should have gone close to winning but just had no luck in the straight. Got clear late and charged to the line when second to This’ll Testya. If he gets clear air from the outset, he’ll take a power of beating.
11 Reign Of Fire (Bet Now: $13.00) looks the map horse from the gate. I want to be forgiving of his effort last time out behind Burnya To Survive last start given it was 1400m and I do feel that longer trip takes away his dash, so back to 1200m from gate one, he can easily bounce back.
10 My Demi (Bet Now: $91.00) gets the Blinkers back on to sharpen her up. She contested the Mungrup Sprint at Mount Barker and seemingly had her chance behind the speed but couldn’t quite finish it off behind Mini Winnie. Soft gate, I think she’s a first four threat.
