4/9/2021 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Morphettville

The Parks track at Morphettville will play host to a nine race card on Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out seven metres from the 1000m-Winning Post; Out four metres for the remainder.

4 Larkham (Bet Now: $3.70) is a talented son of Sidestep for Ryan Balfour that resumes. Hasn’t raced since March 20 when an impressive winner on the Parks track at Morphettville. He does tend to fire best early on in the prep and his trial here early last month was a lovely piece of work. Hard to beat fresh.

1 Winning Weather (Bet Now: $5.00) is a talented mare for the Macdonald/Gluyas camp that I think is best suited as a short course horse and that was evident when winning over this trip on the course proper here a few weeksback, landing some good bets in the process. Just has to hold her form to prove hard to beat.

2 Rock Hard (Bet Now: $51.00) is a handy sprinter for the Byron Cozamanis camp that resumes. Hasn’t raced since April 17 when finishing tailed off last here behind Deep Dive, a handy horse from Melbourne. Can pull out a decent run fresh and has trialled well leading in. First four threat.

8 Ultimate Addiction (Bet Now: $8.00) on top for me. Francis/Kent trained mare that resumed on the course proper here three weeks ago where she was unwanted in betting but she was absolutely trucking in the run and looked the winner, but just took a while to angle clear before eventually getting clear air and driving hard to just miss. Natural improvement off that, she’ll take beating.

1100m back to 1000m I’m not sure about with 9 Vampire Slayer (Bet Now: $13.00) but I think a maiden win for her is close by based on a strong debut over 1100m at Gawler where she got a fair way back in the run but liked the way she finished her race off behind She’s Estelle in a race which looked strong on paper. If she is okay 1100m back to 1000m, she’ll look the winner at some stage.

4 Hopon Harry (Bet Now: $20.00) can be a first four contender. Son of Rebel Raider on debut for the Macdonald/Gluyas camp that looks a nice forward type, which is somewhat surprising given the breeding, but he looks to have his share of ability, so I’d watch the market and see what it does.

4 Noname Lane (Bet Now: $4.20) is a Will Clarken trained gelding that is racing in really good form at the moment. Impressive on speed win from him two weeks ago on the course proper here. He was there to be run down but found plenty under pressure and was too good. Got the right racing pattern for the Parks track and will be hard to run down.

6 Motell (Bet Now: $4.00) is three weeks between runs for the Jon O’Connor camp since racing on the course proper here over 1800m. Thought the ride from Stubby was a peach and was there to win, but couldn’t withstand the finale of Classy Joe. Racing in career best form and is a definite winning chance.

7 Wings Of Pastrami (Bet Now: $7.50) is racing well for Jeff Searle and is nearing a win. Ran over the mile on the course proper a fortnight back and chased strongly from off the speed when third to Noname Lane. Hasn’t won in a little while but I think a win is near and it could well come here.

1 Crown Mint (Bet Now: $2.80) is getting towards last chance territory. Good return at Murray Bridge before remaining at the trip on the course proper here and for mine, he just raced a bit on the flat side, looking like a horse that wants further, which he gets here, so it’s D-Day.

8 Wild Imagination (Bet Now: $6.00) can bounce back. She was kept very safe in betting when resuming two weeks back but I thought she was a bit disappointing behind Enchantingly. I don’t think she is a 1200m horse so I’ll forgive her for that and off previous form last prep, has to be respected.

3 Perfect Command (Bet Now: $13.00) is a few weeks between runs for Brenton Jones since racing at Balaklava over 1400m when back off the speed and somewhat unlucky in getting clear at the right time overall, thought he had his chance behind Monraaj. Gets a significant jockey upgrade and draws soft.

3 Melody Man (Bet Now: $1.40) has found that winning groove and can go right on with it now. Good late two back over the mile at Murray Bridge. Then raced over the mile on the course proper here where he looked the winner a long way out and duly bolted up. Bred to eat up more ground, so the step up to 1950m is no issue and he’ll take beating.

7 Native Blue (Bet Now: $8.50) is racing in a real purple patch at the moment for the Jaensch camp. He has won two of his past three, the last start seeing him win impressively over the mile at Murray Bridge when finding plenty under pressure and fending them off. Has to be respected here.

4 Allusion (Bet Now: $14.00) has had a few runs now for Claudette Rose and the last couple haven’t exactly inspired anything to suggest he’s a coming winner, but IMO he just hasn’t appreciated the wet ground. If the track can be in the Soft5/6 range, I think he can run a much improved race.

The forecast for rain is a slight concern with 3 One More Jack (Bet Now: $5.50) but he gets a perfect set up to find winning form. Far from disgraced in the Spring Stakes behind Behemoth and Beau Rossa, and we saw what that pair did in the Memsie at Group l level, so it’s the right form, he leads for fun…just doesn’t want it too wet.

7 Ecumenical (Bet Now: $7.50) is a talented mare for Mick Huxtable that resumes. This girl hasn’t raced since the Centaurea when on speed in a fast run race and tiring late, at the end of her prep when down the track behind In Good Health. Just one trial to get ready, but she has a touch of class when right so watch the market.

Fitter and up to 1300m, I want to give 2 Magna Bella (Bet Now: $12.00) another chance. Andrew Clarken trained mare that was a significant drifter in betting when resuming two weeks ago over 1100m on the course proper here and the market got it right as she got back and failed to come on behind Extra Mile. Good second up and up in trip, she can bounce back.

Going to speck 5 Ammo Loco (Bet Now: $16.00) each way at double figures. It wasn’t the strongest field he beat up at Gawler last time out but he was impressive from off the speed and strong late in getting the job done. More depth here, but in well after the claim, does no work from the draw and should be strong late.

9 Nakheel (Bet Now: $4.80) is third up from a break for Will Clarken and looks to be ready to win. Both runs this prep have come at Murray Bridge. Good return from the back fresh over 1200m before stepping up to the mile last Wednesday and for mine, she had her chance to win when second, but perhaps 1200m straight to the mile just found her out. Has the better grounding now, so giving her another chance.

4 Another Free Glass (Bet Now: $5.50) has done little wrong this time in for Team Jaensch. Had momentum and finished best to win fresh at Balaklava. Came straight to town a fortnight back and he ran a super race in defeat when second to dominant winner Melody Man. That form clearly reads well for this.

10 Free Wilma (Bet Now: $2.90) has done little wrong since joining the Jolly camp. Strong maiden win at Balaklava two back before going to Gawler where she loomed strongly to win but had to settle for a narrow second to Love Magic. Consistent type and finds a very winnable race.

5 Strike The Night (Bet Now: $3.60) is a Phillip Stokes trained mare that is second up here. She resumed several weeks ago on the course proper here when on speed and giving a strong kick, but first up, her condition just gave way late when fourth. She’ll take good improvement from that and her racing pattern suits this track.

I couldn’t back 8 Akkacan (Bet Now: $10.00) to win but he’s one for multiples. He ran last Saturday in the Magic Phantom race and didn’t get the best of luck in the straight, but overall, thought he had his chance. Hasn’t won in a long time, but is generally a sneaky first four threat in these kind of races.

6 Enchantingly (Bet Now: $1.85) is in career best form and it’s with Scott Westover, not Chris Waller, which is amazing. You would struggle to find a Waller horse that has improved since leaving his stable but this mare certainly has. Backed as if unbeatable when racing two weeks ago on the course proper and #TeamThey were spot on. Sat on speed, was bolting and when clicked up, away she went and she was dominant. She’ll take a power of beating once again.

5 Aray Of Sunshine (Bet Now: $7.00) should be suited back up in trip. Rob Wilkinson trained mare that was 1200m back to 1000m when racing two weeks back on the course proper and her finale was more than sound behind Pimm’s Party. Gets back up to a more preferred trip and can sit much closer in the run.

11 Anamnesis (Bet Now: $61.00) isn’t one I could back to win but I can certainly entertain him as a first four threat. He ran over 1050m on the course proper here two weeks back and I thought he was pretty good from near last in the run behind Pimm’s Party. If he’s within range, he could be dangerous at odds.
