A bumper ten race program has been set down for Randwick on Saturday for Randwick Guineas Day. The weather is fine, the track is soft (6) and the rail is out six metres for the entire circuit.

Fitter and up to the mile I am happy to side with 6 Left Reeling (Bet Now:  $SP.00). This mare resumed a couple of weeks ago over 1250m at Canterbury where she was back on a dynamite up/in track and just couldn’t get involved, but her late splits were pretty good in defeat behind Brudenell. Might want one more but a rise to 1600m suits and has solid city form from last prep.

2 Cheerful Legend (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has done a super job since joining Nathan Doyle. Big win a fortnight back in the Midway at Rosehill, settling near last in the run before coming wide and letting down with real purpose to win narrowly but impressively. He has that 1500m run under the belt and that should hold him in good stead for this 1600m assignment. One of the hardest to beat.

3 Ripped (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is Example #2461 of an older horse and Blinkers. Tinkering with gear can work wonders with older horses who just go through the motions and that was the case with him several weeks ago, where he was trucking in the run. Just a matter of getting clear and once he got it, away he went and he dashed late to win. If he can hold that form, he’ll take beating once again.

1 Cylinder (Bet Now:  $SP.00), I hope, can stamp himself as #1 seed for the Golden Slipper. Market wanted him with confidence late in the piece when resuming in the Silver Slipper and under a peach steer from Avdulla, he finished best to win well and was very strong to the line in winning. Doing that first up tells me that 1200m here is fine and with upside to come, he rates as one of the hardest to beat.

2 Red Resistance (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is several weeks between runs for GaiBott since an all the way win and stamping himself as the best 2YO seen IMO, leading throughout to win the Canonbury. He was there to be run down but found plenty under pressure to fend them off and win. He has the right racing pattern and will take beating from the front against some of these.

4 Cafe Millennium… (Bet Now:  $SP.00) just how good is he? He was all over the shop when debuting here three weeks ago but the manner in which he put them away and gapped them late was just so damn impressive, and the form has been ticked off with Don Corleone being an unlucky second in the Blue Diamond. Natural improvement, he could easily gap these and be the Slipper favourite.

1 Learning To Fly (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the best 2YO filly we’ve seen this season and has to be the one to beat here. She debuted with a strong win in the Widden before going to the Inglis Millennium where she gave them a start and a beating, rounding them up with ease in an electric win from the back. Has versatility re racing pattern and off the last start, the 1200m is fine. She’ll do me.

3 Facile (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is on the seven day back up after racing in the Sweet Embrace last Saturday when wide no cover for the trip and kept finding the line in a game effort when second to Lazzago, bloused late but credit to her, she kept finding the line. I highly doubt she beats Learning To Fly, but likely gets a soft lead and will give a sight.

4 Cigar Flick (Bet Now:  $SP.00) could be a sleeper if this becomes a sit/sprint because I do feel like 1200m is a bridge too far for her but if it just becomes a 600m dash, then she is in the mix. She ran in a Blue Diamond Prelude last time where she got back and made up solid headway without threatening behind Exploring. Not sure she wins, doubt it, but can finish third with the right run in transit.

Very open/even race this so going to take a punt with 4 Sir Lucan (Bet Now:  $SP.00), who has his first run since the 2021 Melbourne Cup when down the track behind Verry Elleegant. He’s had a long time off and looked very rusty in the first trial but the second trial, he was much better and moved well on speed, only getting run down late. Question marks on most of these, including this guy, but he has the most scope/improvement.

3 Sacramento (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is working up to a win. He did enough fresh behind Banju before going to the Parramatta Cup where he was similar to King Frankel in chasing Banju and stuck to the task very well in defeat to finish third, beaten 1.4L. Hard fit now and getting to the Randwick 2000m, he will jump on the bunny and give a sight I am sure.

8 Athabascan (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a horse I am not dropping off from a Sydney Cup perspective but he’d want to be doing something positive here. He resumed three weeks ago over the mile here where he sat last in the run and stayed there, but I thought the last little bit of his race was more than encouraging for a horse that clearly wants more ground, which is what he gets here, and he has a touch of class/quality.

I am keen here on 11 Willinga Beast (Bet Now:  $SP.00) for Kris Lees. They tried to stretch her out to be a Flight Stakes horse in the Spring but there is enough in her form to suggest she is a short course type so 1100m here fresh I love. Yet to see a dry track in her career so she could easily explode here and with two trials under the belt, she’s got the grounding to prove hard to beat.

13 Midnight In Tokyo (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a filly loaded with ability with Kacy Fogden. This girl had a busy prep during the Winter, which ended with a down the track effort in the Silver Shadow at Randwick behind Zougotcha. Been given a good break with the Carnival in mind and the two trial wins suggest she has come back in really good order. With class on her side, she’s hard to beat.

2 Kote (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is getting towards D-Day. Anthony Cummings trained three year old that has been a bit on the plain side in two runs back from a spell. Led and felt the pinch late fresh behind Remarque here before going to Rosehill where he did too much work on speed and tired behind Andermatt in a solid effort. Both runs back have been against older horses. Back to his own age, his best seems him go close to winning.

1 Eduardo (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is one of the best 1000m horses in Australia and confident he can resume a winner. The wheels fell off towards the end of the Spring, finishing down the track in both The Everest and Nature Strip. Been given a good break and has been kept on ice, dodging the Lightning and focusing on the Sydney Autumn. Trials leading in have been strong, distance specialist, lands on speed and is hard to run down.

8 Giga Kick (Bet Now:  $SP.00) could well be the best sprinter in Australia as it stands now. His win in The Everest was unbelievable and really, any hint of proper clear air and he likely wins the Champions Sprint instead of a fifth to Roch N Horse. Trialled super behind Lightning winner Coolangatta and a subsequent jumpout was a good piece of work. He’ll get back off the speed but be very strong at the end.

3 Remarque (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a horse I have had plenty of time for and I think since being gelded, he’s a different horse. A much better horse. Resumed several weeks ago at Randwick and he gave them a spanking, lumping 62kg to win with ease. Form out of that race has been ticked off, he’ll love a fast run 1000m, loves firm ground and will be strong at the end.

11 Golden Mile (Bet Now:  $SP.00) commands respect. Three year old for James Cummings that comes here five weeks between runs since resuming in the Expressway where he was off the speed and battled away strongly in defeat when second to Mariamia. Has been freshened up with this race in mind…his trial was very plain I thought but worked much better between races. Stable are flying and are very good at placing their runners.

There is clearly real intent with 2 Artorius (Bet Now:  $SP.00) to resume a Group l winner given he is being prepped in Sydney and the stable have got Zac Purton to come across and ride. He hasn’t raced since the English Summer prep, where he placed in both the Platinum Jubilee and July Cup, two of the great 1200m sprints on the world calendar. Moved well in a trial win and seemed to work well between races last Saturday. If he brings his best, he could easily spank these.

1 Cascadian (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an absolute ripper for James Cummings. He is generally around the mark at this level, having a very good Spring prep, which ended with a very game fourth in the Northerly at Ascot behind Amelia’s Jewel. He is a good fresh horse, liked the recent trial and he saves his best for Randwick. Better suited over slightly further but should be strong at the end.

5 Matcha Latte (Bet Now:  $SP.00) gets his chance for Group l glory. I thought he was excellent in the Hobartville. First up, he was there to win the race 250m out but condition just gave way late and he couldn’t quite get there, albeit he was beaten narrowly by Osipenko. Fitter, getting to the Randwick mile, it all points to him running well and is a great each way gamble.

4 Zou Tiger (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has been set for the race and is in form. Avdulla rode an aggressive race in the Hobartville, making sure Aft Cabin had to work, and while he won that battle, he lost the war as Osipenko nabbed him on the peg. Hopefully that run toughens him up and should that be the case, he rates as one of the leading chances.

What a fascinating runner 1 Manzoice (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is. Victoria Derby winner from the Spring that makes his awaited returned to the track and it’s clear that he has eyes on the Australian Derby, kept on ice after being scratched from the Hobartville when he wasn’t quite 100%. Interrupted prep but his recent work between races was very encouraging and has the runs on the board.

The straight bat option is 2 Roots (Bet Now:  $SP.00). Chris Waller trained mare that resumed two weeks ago in the Millie Fox where she was a bit one paced when initially asked to go but she was good late in the piece when third to Electric Girl. Fitter, getting to the mile, J Mac back on, ideal map…think it’ll take a good one to beat her. Pretty keen on her prospects.

Fitter and up in trip are two big ticks for 4 Cliff’s Art (Bet Now:  $SP.00). Matty Smith trained mare that resumed two weeks ago in the Millie Fox where she got a fair way back in the run and was never really a winning threat but didn’t mind the way she finished her race off behind Electric Girl, beaten just over four lengths. Much better set up for her this time around and strikes a winnable race.

Best version of 6 Honeycreeper (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is more than capable. James Cummings trained mare that resumed two weeks back in the Millie Fox where she was just run off her legs and couldn’t pick her feet up at all, beating one runner home behind Electric Girl. Just one soft trial leading in so you’d think there is room for improvement and her best is good enough to be dangerous.

2 Sky Command (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a quality mare for the Ryan/Alexiou camp that resumes. She hasn’t raced since the Summer when ending a fab prep on a high, winning the Starlight at Rosehill with sustained speed coming to the fore. Good fresh horse who has trialled up well leading in and is an absolute bomb at Randwick. With her racing style, she appeals.

9 Po Kare Kare (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has been really well placed by Bryce Heys. Kept her to benchmark company and was good before getting right down in the weights three weeks ago in the Trsicay where she got the suck run in behind before being cut loose by Schiller and away she went for a dominant win. She is a mare who loves to be cuddled and exposed late. If that eventuates here, she’ll take beating once again.

8 Written Beauty (Bet Now:  $SP.00) can win with a half positive steer. They rode her like a barrier trial when resuming in the Triscay three weeks back and I thought she found the line pretty well late in the piece without threatening, beaten around 2.6L. Can settle much closer in the run if need be, so hopefully she gets a positive steer. Hard to beat if that eventuates.
