4/2/2023 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Eagle Farm

This bunch are steady, so want to be on something that will jump/run and 4 O’Polly (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks to be that. She trialled a couple of weeks ago over 840m at Doomben where she led throughout and seem to move very well under Wendy Peel, who remains on for start one. 1000m at Eagle Farm, she’ll slide forward, likely lead and prove hard to run down.

1 Bedaub (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has the runs on the board to give this a shake. Found them a bit sharp fresh in the Gold Pearl behind Mishani Royale before going to Doomben two weeks ago where she got back in the run and made up solid headway without threatening behind Party For Two. She does seem a short course horse so like her at the 1000m and hard to beat with a more positive steer.

2 Big Boy Ben (Bet Now:  $SP.00) can run an improved race. There was a late market push towards him when he debuted over 800m at Ipswich but he wasn’t suited by that scamper and couldn’t finish the race off well enough behind Sunday Mail. Had trialled up well leading into that so up to 1000m and bigger track, want to give him another look.

1 Head Of State (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was a camel once upon a time but since coming to Queensland, he looks to be a different horse. He was excellent first up in The Wave behind Deficit before going to Doomben where he got a mile out of his ground and was never a threat but he finished off with purpose to run fourth. 2200m on the big track looks to be ideal and has more upside than most.

2 Military Gambler (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a slight query at 2200m but it is hard to knock the way Chris Munce has him going. Strong winner a fortnight back at Doomben where he was given a peach by Huxtable and despite wandering about a bit under pressure, he found under pressure to fend off Ashgrove and get the win. If the trip is fine, he has to rate as one of the hardest to beat.

3 Namakwa (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has a gate to settle just off the speed, do no work and be effective at the end. He ran behind Military Gambler two weeks back where he did work from a wide gate and that early burn just told late in the piece behind the Chris Munce galloper. Like him up in trip again, can lead/box seat from the gate and an improved showing is definitely on the cards.

8 Vaccine (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has come back well for Tony Gollan and rates highly against these. Game third to stablemate Latakia at the Gold Coast before going to Doomben two weeks ago where she got into a tricky spot but managed to get clear and drove hard late, but had no answers for the finale produced by surprise winner Bold And Lucy. Like her back on the bigger track and finds a winnable race.

6 Red Bloom (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a ripping mare for Team Sears that is always competitive in races like this. She ran in a strong open handicap at the Sunny Coast and was very good in defeat. Looked the winner for a few strides when asked for the effort by KWT but was bloused near the peg by Star Of Michelin, who is a track specialist there. Not the best of records at Eagle Farm but she finds a winnable race.

3 Coup De Tonnerre (Bet Now:  $SP.00) that resumes for Tony Gollan. He hasn’t raced since November 19 over 2200m at the Sunny Coast when near the speed and battled on strongly when second to the then in form Irish Homie. Just one soft trial to get ready for the return but I do find it quite interesting with a Nose Roll on first time for the resumption, so watch the market.

I want to give 4 Wairere Falls (Bet Now:  $SP.00) another chance. I was quite keen on him when he raced two weeks ago at Doomben but he was back near last in a race dominated by those on speed and he couldn’t dash like a sprinter to reel them in, so I am very forgiving of that effort. Prior efforts suggested a win was near and I do think getting to Eagle Farm will help his cause. Hard to beat.

3 Rock Amore (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a slight query at 1500m but Tony Gollan has him in good form. Too bad to be true two back behind Bold Warrior before going to Doomben over 1350m where Maloney rode him positively from the outset and the ride won the race because he controlled the race and that was the difference between winning and losing. If the 1500m is fine, he’s hard to beat.

8 The Cullinan (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is getting towards peak fitness and the rise to 1500m can see him run a much improved race. He ran behind Rock Amore two weeks back at Doomben where he was back in a sit/sprint and was never a factor behind the Gollan horse. Getting to Eagle Farm is a big tick and if he can settle closer in the run, I think he could be a sneaky chance at a big price.

Think it’s going to take a good one to beat 2 Buying Time (Bet Now:  $SP.00). O’Dea/Hoysted trained gelding that resumed at the midweeks at Doomben where he looked a moral on paper and it was just a matter of Loy pushing the button. Once he did, away he went and he spanked his rivals. Tends to race best with fresh legs and despite a tricky gate, I think he has a fair bit on these.

12 Inasec (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should love getting to a bigger track. This mare is flying without winning for Tony Gollan. Like most, thought she was a good thing at Ipswich last time but she seemed to struggle around the tight track. Balanced up in the straight and launched when second to the in form Controlocacy. Like her on the bigger track and she has the finale to launch at these late, finishing over the top.

1 Streaka (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a short course specialist and appears suited in a race like this. He ran over 900m a few weeks ago at the Gold Coast where he was chasing from the outset and was entitled to spit the dummy out but he kept finding the line and was very game in defeat behind Archer’s Paradox. He was only second up there so you’d think there is room for improvement.

2 Hang Five (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is back on track. He had two runs in the Winter and was pretty plain for the most part so the stable sent him to the paddock. He resumed at Doomben two weeks ago where the race shape was against him but loved the way he found the line late in the piece when third to the hard fit/in form Busting. Fitter, up to 1400m, if he naturally improves off that, good luck beating him.

1 Tsarina Sophia (Bet Now:  $SP.00) rates highly. Defied a notable betting drift to win at Doomben last time. She got a sweet run in transit behind the speed before Orman angled clear and despite taking a little while to put the race away, class came to the fore and she was much too good. 1400m, based on last start, should be fine, and being fourth up now, she should be at peak fitness.

5 Centre Bounce (Bet Now:  $SP.00) ran third in the Tsarina Sophia race mentioned above and I think given the price gap, you could easily speck this guy. He could have gone close to winning that race had clear air eventuated in the straight but it just didn’t happen. Think 1400m on the bigger track will be ideal and convinced he will be strong late.

It’s hard to get away from 5 King Capa (Bet Now:  $SP.00). He’s had three runs for Tony Gollan and has been outstanding each time. Latest run came two weeks ago at Doomben over this trip where he got a sweet trip on speed in a sit/sprint. Just a matter of Maloney pushing the button and once he did, away he went and he was dominant. Only has to be holding his form and I think he’ll be winning again.

1 Acrobatic (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has come back in super order IMO. Market said he’d need the run when resuming over 1110m at Doomben a fortnight back and in a fast run 1110m, he was entitled to tire late, but he ran through the pain barrier and found the line when a narrow second to Fifteen Rounds. Fitter and up to 1200m, enormous upside, he has plenty going for him.

7 Safework (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. Thought he did more than enough from the back fresh at Doomben behind Arentee before going to the Magic Millions QTIS where he found the class a bit rich so forgive and forget behind Alpine Edge. He does tend to get better as the prep goes on so third up here, he should just about be ready to go.

2 Mohican Heights (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is better suited over further but that return was very encouraging. That came a fortnight back over the mile at Doomben and was in restricted room in the straight. Not sure that suited him but I thought he was very good for a stayer behind stablemate Lovely Esteem. Might want one more, but off the return, I think he’s in with a massive shout, especially getting to 1800m on the bigger track.

10 Trevelyan (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks hard to beat for Chris Meagher. This guy was around a month between runs when racing over the mile at Doomben two weeks ago. He got a soft trip on the fence before getting the splits and drove hard late, looking home but was nabbed near the peg by Lovely Esteem, who had clear air out wide and launched to win. Has that run under the belt, he appeals big time, especially getting to a bigger track.

6 Mubariz (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has to be given another look. To the eye, he was plain first up at Doomben behind stablemate Lovely Esteem, but when you break down the splits, he had no chance. It was a race set up for this with change up speed and he couldn’t produce that from last. He’s a quality horse when right, and has the Waller polish, so don’t pen him.

8 Pentito (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks really hard to beat against these. Ran in the QTIS race on Magic Millions Day at the Gold Coast and gee he was an eye catcher late from the back when fourth to a pretty solid horse, Alpine Edge. I think he’ll love getting to the bigger deck and if he’s within range on the turn, I think he has the finale to overhaul them.

16 Comrade Rosa (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has found it hard to win and that was the case in the first run for Tony Gollan at the midweeks at Doomben, taking forever to wind into her work but savaged the line late to finish second, clocking some of the better late splits of the meeting. Think 1300m on the big track will be ideal and she has the engine under the hood to beat these.

2 Fire King (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a very genuine animal for Olivia Cairns that is second up here and deserves a crack in town. He resumed three weeks ago in a Non TAB race at Thangol where he contested a pretty strong open handicap for that part of the world and was too good fresh. Fitter and up in trip, with the claim, I think he’s a must for wider exotics.

NEXT BEST: Race Two Number 1 Head Of State

LONG SHOT: Race Eight Number 2 Mohican Heights
