Race 1. (14:29) Thank You, Goldfields Tourism (Rs0ly) 2200m
6 Style Diva (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes here off the back of a win at Northam where she gave them a start and a beating, handling the trip quite well. Off that win, she has to be respected as one of the hardest to beat.
4 Desert Edge (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is on the quick back up after racing over 1850m on Sunday at Toodyay when on speed and he tried hard but just couldn’t quite finish his race off. The rise in trip should be fine. Ideally he gets a more patient steer and if that eventuates, he can bounce back.
1 Villeins (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) was trying to race himself into Kalgoorlie Cup contention by the just didn’t quite measure up in lead ups, the latest coming in the Boulder Cup. Back to this level, he’s an improver at odds.
Race 2. (15:04) Tabtouch Westspeed Platinum (Rs0ly) 1400m
2 Saturday Sesh (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has come back in super order for Ash Maley and is the one to beat. He won over this trip at Bunbury, sitting near the speed before being clicked up and he found under pressure late to fend them off and score. Good test here but confident he measures up.
1 Kiralui (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is two weeks between runs since racing over this trip at Belmont. He got back off speed and did make up some headway but was never really threatening behind Be Bardot. Better suited here, he’s a definite improver.
5 Prince Of Bondi (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a couple of weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance. He got into a decent spot in transit and tried hard but just couldn’t quite finish the job when second to King Of France. Not sure he wins, but can run top four.
Race 3. (15:39) Cd Dodd (Rs1mw) 1760m
2 Feuding (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) on top for me. He ran over this track/distance last start when on speed throughout and was there to put the race to bed but just couldn’t quite get there when second. Good racing style, likes racing at Kalgoorlie and strikes a winnable race.
6 The Jester’s Son (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is racing in a purple patch and has to be respected after winning the race mentioned above, giving them a start and a beating in an impressive performance. Off that effort, he has to be rated as one of the hardest to beat.
7 Gondrinkin (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) was an impressive winner over the mile here last start. The win had plenty of merit given he was wide no cover throughout but he got better as the race went on, winning quite impressively. If there is petrol in the tank, he appeals.
Race 4. (16:14) Coastal Midwest (Bm72+) 1400m
4 Close At Hand (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has a fab track/distance record and seems the straight bat option for Peter Fernie. Impressive winner over 1300m here last start, getting better as the race went on to draw clear late and win impressively. Good test here but think he can measure up.
3 Influencing (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) ran fourth to Close At Hand in the race mentioned above. It was a tough watch if you were on, getting badly held up in behind them and it ended up being a horror show. Racing well and if the breaks go his way, he can win.
1 Cold Shizzle (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is on the seven day back up after racing over this trip at Belmont last Saturday when on speed but didn’t fire a shot in the straight and was a bit on the plain side late. Better suited at this level, I say he’s a definite improver.
Race 5. (16:53) Spud Shed Kalgoorlie (Bm66+) 1600m
2 Odinaka (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a straight bat play. He ran over the mile two weeks ago at Belmont where he got off speed and while he was never threatening, he kept chasing and was good in defeat behind Decision Maker. Maps to get a sweet run in transit and be effective late.
5 Decision Maker (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has found winning form, which came in the race mentioned above. He gave them a start and a beating, peoudidng a strong finale from the back to score. Likely spots them a start again but should launch late.
3 Uncompromised (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has to be given another look after racing over 2100m in the Boulder Cup. He was wide no cover throughout and the hard run just told on him late. Like him back in trip and can run a much improved race.
Race 6. (17:30) Ron Sayers Sprint (Bm66+) 1100m
12 Tawkin Jibberish (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should be better for the first up run, which came two weeks ago at Belmont. She got into a decent spot, wide with cover, and tried hard but just lakdd the killer blow. Maps to get a much better run in transit and be effective late.
5 Snow Prince (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a definite improver for Team Casey. He ran over 1200m at Belmont a fortnight back when off speed and kept chasing in a pretty good effort in defeat. His best is clearly good enough so I am giving him respect.
3 Ain’t No Other Man (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should appreciate firmer footing after racing last Saturday at Belmont where he seemed to struggle on the wet track. Firmer deck here, he can run a much improved race.
Race 7. (18:10) The Golden Saddle 1200m
10 Twain’s Angel (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a very sharp mare for Team Casey that can stake early claims for the Winterbottom with a win here. She resumes, having not raced since taking out The Joey on Quokka Day at Ascot. Trials to get ready have been quite good, maps perfect and should be strong late.
1 Magnificent Andy (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is better suited over further but he is just so damn genuine. He had a solid Autumn/Winter prep, which ended with a game second in the Hyperion to Western Empire. Looks to have trialled well for the return and has class.
12 Rissoles (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is four weeks between runs since resuming over this trip at Belmont where he found them a bit sharp but was good late in the piece. Maps to do no work in the run and be effective at the end.
Race 8. (18:45) Kalgoorlie Cup 2300m
4 Starry Heights (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) on top and clearly I say. He was 1400m to 2100m when contesting the Boulder Cup and he tried his guts out but just couldn’t quite finish the job when second to Sentimental Hero. He has that run under the belt now and has good upside to come.
7 I Love Your Smile (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is flying for Luke Fernie and has earned a crack at a race like this after wins at Belmont in recent weeks, each time knuckling down with purpose to score. Good test here but confident she measures up.
10 Royal Law (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) ran a close up fourth to I Love Your Smile last Saturday at Belmont. He got a fair way out of his ground but really liked the way he closed his race off in defeat. Not sure he is good enough to win but can run top four.
Race 9. (19:22) Statewide Oil (Rs1mw) 1300m
1 Corn Cob (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes back to 1300m after racing over 1400m at Belmont two weeks ago where he attempted to lead throughout and gave a strong kick from the front but just couldn’t quite see it through. Back in trip is fine and with a more patient steer, he takes beating.
5 Eevalina (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should be around the mark. She ran over this track/distance last start when near the speed throughout and she tried hard but just couldn’t quite see it through. This isn’t an overly deep race so she commands respect.
4 Commissions (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has been flying at Broome so keen to see how he goes here. He has won three of his past four at Broome and each time he was strong. Good test here but keen to see how he goes.
