Race 1. (14:09) Tabtouch - Westspeed Platinum (Rs0ly) 1600m
4 Kazkazi (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks ready to win. He has been strong in two runs back from a spell, the latest being here last Wednesday at this trip when off the speed and worked home with purpose when third to Snazzler. Good upside to come and if he can settle closer in the run, he takes beating.
1 Pray Again (Bet Now: $SP.00) has been super without winning this time in and commands respect as one of the leading contenders. He ran over this track/distance last Wednesday when near the speed throughout and was there to win but couldn’t quite finish the job behind Snazzler. He’s racing very well and has that tough mile run under the belt, so it should hold him in good stead.
7 Kolchino (Bet Now: $SP.00) brings Kalgoorlie form, which can stand up in town, so I am not dismissing him. He got too far out of his ground last time out but his finale in defeat was pretty good, beaten seven lengths. He has run well in town before…not sure he wins, but can pinch top four.
Race 2. (14:44) National Pump & Energy Plate 1000m
5 Cleanemup (Bet Now: $SP.00) seems the straight bat play for Dion Luciani. She hasn’t raced since July 27 when on speed, trucking and when asked for the effort, she responded and was impressive to the line. Bit of depth to this line up but she looks promising and seems suited at the short course.
2 The Top Bar (Bet Now: $SP.00) looked ready to win a race after a couple of promising runs to start his career and that was proven right with a win last Wednesday, making a mess of them and was impressive albeit against not much. Confident he can measure up against these.
8 Nicely Played (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks to have an engine under the hood and is a knockout hope. Ran second last Wednesday behind The Top Bar, getting back off the speed but the finale in defeat was quite good. Dangerous if it’s able to settle closer in the run and for mine is a winning threat if that eventuates.
Race 3. (15:19) Reliable Asset Maintenance (Bm66+) 1000m
3 Bravo Centurion (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks the winner if he holds his form. Track/distance winner from last Saturday, producing sustained speed from the front and gave nothing else a look in to win and win well. Harder here, but will lead the field and for mine, he only has to hold his form and I think he’ll be winning again.
4 Paddy’s Flyin (Bet Now: $SP.00) has a good track/distance record and isn’t racing too bad. He ran last Thursday at Pinjarra down the straight and battled away well enough in defeat I thought behind Military Power, a proven Saturday metro horse, so I think that form reads well. Commands some level of respect.
1 Capital Flight (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes here just over three weeks between runs for the Maynard camp since racing at this track/distance when on speed and while held late, he stuck on well enough in defeat behind Sunny Honey. He does race well with fresh legs and with his racing pattern, he’ll give herself every chance.
Race 4. (15:56) Quayclean (Bm66+) 2200m
1 Iowa (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks the one with class and upside so he goes on top for me. Four weeks between runs since a win over 2100m here. He led throughout and credit to him, he was there to be run down but he found under pressure to fend them off and win. Good upside, good racing style, he goes on top for me.
2 Filthy Habits (Bet Now: $SP.00) is the key threat. He was 2200m back to the mile when racing last Saturday here. He attempted to lead throughout and gave a strong kick but couldn’t quite see it through when third to the very much in form Sensesstional. Back up in trip, he appeals.
8 Stop Dreaming (Bet Now: $SP.00) is an improver at odds for Luke Fernie. This gelding resumed over the mile on August 1 at Pinjarra where he was near last in the run and was never really a winning threat, but his finale was sound. Tick over trial was good, like him up in trip and the depth here, as a whole, isn’t deep.
Race 5. (16:34) Jolly Beggar Stakes (Bm84+) 1000m
5 Ginnivan (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks a good thing on the card. Jim Taylor trained gelding that is a track/distance specialist and is hard fit, in form. Dynamic winner two weeks ago at this track/distance, leading throughout, getting complete control and was too good. Looks the leader, down in the weights…good luck beating him.
7 Supersession (Bet Now: $SP.00) is an Adam Durrant trained gelding that resumes. He is first up, having not raced since April 6 at Ascot when far from disgraced in defeat behind Thomas Magnum. Quite trial to get ready for the return and although he’ll be spotting them a start he should be strong late.
4 Son Of A God (Bet Now: $SP.00) is on the seven day back up after racing last Saturday in the Idyllic Prince where he ran over 1300m and on the bog, it was an awful set up so forgive and forget the run. Back in trip and back in depth, I think he’s an improver at odds.
Race 6. (17:10) Unite Resourcing (Rs1mw) 1400m
4 Watch Me Rock (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks hard to beat for Team Williams. He resumed at Northam where he got a decent enough run in transit and in a driving go under the apprentice, the gelding found and was impressive late. Harder here, but good upside and in a leading camp.
1 Ciscojoe (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks to be in for a ripping prep for Bernie Miller. He resumed four weeks ago at this track/distance where he got a mile out of his ground but I really liked the way he finished his race off late in the piece behind Captain Pluto. Stays at the trip, which I find interesting, but he is a few weeks between runs so he should still be relatively fresh and is one of the leading contenders.
2 Dennis Choux (Bet Now: $SP.00) is on the seven day back up after racing here last Saturday over 1300m when on speed throughout and he tried hard but couldn’t quite go with them late but he stuck on well enough to run third to No Brainer. Good racing style and hard fit, a must for exotics.
Race 7. (17:45) Vale Joan Parnham (Rs1mw) 1200m
1 Silver Eye (Bet Now: $SP.00) has found winning form and he can certainly go on with it. The win came over 1000m here two weeks ago where he got into a sweet spot just off the speed before angling for clear air and he made a mess of them late in the piece in an impressive piece of work. Confidence is up, hard to beat I say.
8 Eliteone (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks to have returned in pretty good order for Simon Miller. He resumed a fortnight back behind Silver Eye. He got run off his legs early and spotted those in front a decent start but his finale was quite good in defeat. Fitter and up in trip, good upside to come, he rates highly.
9 King Akeed (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a nice horse on the up. Michael Grantham trained gelding that comes to town off a maiden win at Northam where he had the suck run in transit behind the speed before angling clear and got the job done, just. Tricky draw and harder, but he is a horse with upside/scope.
Race 8. (18:20) Peters Investments (Bm72+) 1300m
4 Sentimental Belle (Bet Now: $SP.00) seems the straight bat play for Team Williams. She strung together some wins before racing two weeks ago over this track/distance where she got every chance in transit and tried hard but couldn’t quite finish the job when third to Mama Tembu. I think with that 1300m run under the belt, it holds her in good stead.
2 Otheroneson (Bet Now: $SP.00) should appreciate a rise in trip. This guy resumed over 1200m here three weeks ago where he got back in the run and although he was never a winning threat, he found the line and was pretty good in defeat behind Ice Pick Nick. He is the one with good upside/timing and should be strong late.
9 Without Reg (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes through the Mama Tembu race from two weeks back. He got into a decent spot off the speed and tried hard but just lacked the class to go with them late in the piece. Not sure he is a horse I could back to win but is one for exotics.
Race 9. (19:00) Ascot Racing Carnival (Bm66+) 1600m
1 Captain Pluto (Bet Now: $SP.00) should love a rise to the mile for Team Williams after two runs at 1400m to start the prep. Dynamic winner fresh before a third here two weeks ago, getting back but worked home with real purpose late in the piece when a close up third. Hard fit, up in trip, keen.
2 Snazzler (Bet Now: $SP.00) is flying for Jason Pateman and has earned a crack at Saturday grade after winning here last Wednesday, getting a sweet sit in transit before being clicked up and let down with purpose late to win and win well. He has a fab track/distance record and hard to knock the way he’s racing.
3 Advanced (Bet Now: $SP.00) has found winning form and commands some level of respect. He won just over two weeks back at Bunbury where he got into a beaut spot in transit before knuckling down with purpose when asked for the effort and was strong to the line. Not sure he wins, but a must for exotics.
