31/1/2026 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Morphettville, Durbridge Stakes day

Eleven races will be run and won at Morphettville this Saturday for Durbridge Stakes Day, keeping in mind the first three are set down for the Parks track. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

7 Torpedoes (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is bursting to win and I think finds his race. Ran two weeks ago at Murray Bridge over this trip when on speed and he tried hard but had no answers late for the finale of Dirty Old Town, who was given a 12/10 ride. Lands on speed and will take running down.

10 Cathay Express (Bet Now:  $SP.00) steps up to 1400m after racing three weeks ago over 1100m at Murray Bridge where she got off speed and was one of the first off the bit but kept chasing and was pretty good late in the piece. Like her up in trip and strikes a winnable race.

8 Belongtojill (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should have won first up at Gawler after bombing the start. She then went to Murray Bridge where she again got back in the run and while she was never threatening, she kept chasing and was pretty good late. If within range, she has the finale to be dangerous.

1 Light The Night (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks ideally suited up in trip after coming back to 1100m at Murray Bridge two weeks ago when off speed and held up before angling clear and launched late, just missing out on picking up Violet Lovebug. Back up in trip, he takes beating.

3 Beachbarbeckons (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should be better for the first up run, which came four weeks ago at Gawler. He just found them a bit sharp over 1100m but kept finding and was pretty good in defeat behind Arabella Star. Fitter and up in trip, he only runs well.

5 Safe Bet (Bet Now:  $SP.00) ran down the track behind Violet Lovebug two weeks back. The race was over 1100m and he just found them a sharp, failing to really come on. Better set up here…doubt he wins, but can run first four.

5 The Sprinkler (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks ready to win. He ran over this trip two weeks ago at Murray Bridge and off speed, but worked home with real purpose in a good effort when second to World’s My Oyster. Maps ideally here, hard fit, strong late, happy to be in his corner.

7 Cielao (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since attempting to lead throughout at this trip at Murray Bridge. She led and tried hard but had no answers late for the finale of Florey. Good racing style and with front end control, takes running down.

6 Headphones (Bet Now:  $SP.00) loves racing at 1400m…usually at Murray Bridge but does have a decent enough record here. She ran third to World’s My Oyster two weeks back at Murray Bridge, trying hard from off speed but just failed to get there. Must for exotics.

3 Expensive Taste (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was down to debut in the Blue Diamond Preview but instead tackles this softer option. She looks to have jumped out very well at Flemington for start one and the stable have shown that when they come here for a hit and run, it works.

2 Ole Go (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a son of Ole Kirk for Michael Hickmott that comes here off the back of a trial win last Monday at Murray Bridge, winning comfortably and running solid time. Bred to be handy, watch the market and see what it does.

4 Image Artist (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was big odds when debuting two weeks back at Murray Bridge. She was never really threatening but I didn’t mind the way she finished her race off in defeat. Small field helps and despite more depth here, I think she’s a knockout hope.

4 Rathlin Express (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to 1200m after racing two weeks ago over 1400m at Murray Bridge. He got into a decent spot off speed, with cover, and presented to threaten but just whacked late behind Dirty Old Town. Back to 1200m…running out of chances but his best is good enough to win.

2 Elite Thunder (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is in the mix for Team Jolly, having not raced since July 30 over 1400m at Balaklava whem placing, seemingly having his chance but he battled on really well. Looks to have trialled well, will press forward and should be around the mark.

6 Uptown Monk (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Will Clarken trained three year old that is on debut. He has looked strong in trial work to get ready for start one, the latest trial seeing him win and he moved well. Maps to stalk the speed and be effective late.

5 Teardrop Rotation (Bet Now:  $SP.00) just has to hold her form and she wins. She ran three weeks ago at Flemington when off speed and keen before angling clear and worked to the line strongly in defeat when third to Welcometotheshow. Just has to hold her form and she’s the winner.

4 I Catchem Fox… (Bet Now:  $SP.00) just not sure what that ride was at Murray Bridge three weeks back. Very quiet, not much initiative and just took forever to get going, eventually winding up but by the time that happened, it was race over. More positive ride and he can bounce back.

7 Surprise Coming (Bet Now:  $SP.00) ran fourth to Bamyan Buddha three weeks back at Murray Bridge. Not sure the race shape was to his liking but even allowing for that, I did expect more from him and he seemed a bit on the plain side. More genuine tempo here, he can improve out of sight.

10 Mrs Penny Cracker (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is four weeks between runs since an arrogant win at Gawler where she gave them a start and a beating, gradually creeping into the race and got better as the race went on. Hard to beat against these.

6 Garcon Reward (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a slight query at 2000m but is racing as if he’ll be okay. He ran three weeks ago over the mile at Murray Bridge. He got too far out of his ground but was good late without threatening behind Flaming Eyes. If within range, I think he’ll take holding out.

9 Zain Prince (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a few weeks between runs for Garret Lynch since taking out a race at Port Lincoln over 1750m, getting into a sweet spot in transit before being clicked up and away he went to win and win well. Keen to see how he goes against these.

1 Klabel (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is five weeks between runs since taking out the Christmas Handicap over 1200m here, giving them a start and a beating in an impressive effort. 1100m, fresh legs, WFA…gee he looks well placed against these IMO.

4 Sir Now (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a barrier rogue but he behaved much better and ran three weeks ago at Murray Bridge when off speed before being presented wider and tried his guts out but just found one better in Enuff Seduction. His best is good enough to be dangerous and trialled super last Monday.

5 Great Maximus (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is in the mix for Team Jolly. He resumed three weeks back at Murray Bridge when on speed and tried hard but just felt the pinch late behind Enuff Seduction. Doubt he wins but can run first four at odds.

5 Florey (Bet Now:  $SP.00) takes beating here for the Jolly/Potter camp after an arrogant win at Murray Bridge three weeks ago, stalking Cielao before being clicked up and got better as the race went on. Has found form, she can certainly go on with it.

15 Rubini (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is bursting to win I feel. He ran over 1400m at Murray Bridge three weeks ago where he got back to near last in the run and while he was never a threat behind Florey, he did make up headway and was pretty good in defeat. Like him up in trip, can settle closer and be effective late.

14 Chance Taken (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should appreciate getting to the mile after resuming over 1400m three weeks back at Murray Bridge. He just found them a bit sharp and was never really a factor, finishing down the track behind Florey. Fitter and up in trip, he’s a definite improver.

Justin Pickering and connections…they aren’t great re rider choice at times, so sticking with Maggie Collett aboard 6 Daisydoo (Bet Now:  $SP.00) seems odd. Collett has ridden this horse all prep, including two weeks ago, and last weekend aside, she has slaughtered the horse. 1200m back to 1050m, she’ll sit off speed but I think she’ll finish over the top and am quite keen on her prospects.

5 Mic Drop (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is five weeks between runs since a track/distance win. She sat off speed and was trucking before angling for clear air and knuckled down with purpose late to win and win well. Tick over trial last week was sharp, she’s in form, rates highly.

8 Blanc Visage (Bet Now:  $SP.00) resumed with a bang four weeks ago at Gawler, giving them a start and a beating in an impressive display, rounding them up from the back albeit a field of seven. Previous second up winner and off the return, commands serious respect.

11 Star Sirius (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was well and truly thrown in the deep end when resuming in the Black Pearl at Geelong three weeks back. She got back in the run and in a race dominated on speed/fence, she was never a factor. Much better suited at this level, she can threaten for sure.

13 Angel Torque (Bet Now:  $SP.00)…is she running out of chances? I think the horse inside her coming out cost her two back at Gawler but last start at Murray Bridge, I thought she had her chance and was just weak late when third. I think drawn wide, ideally, find cover, a drag into the race and finish better off.

15 High On Sugar (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is hard to beat off his win several weeks ago at Gawler. He did have the pattern in his corner admittedly but even allowing for that, he was impressive the way he knuckled down late to get the win. Confidence is up, he’ll be strong late, likes the track…appeals.

NEXT BEST: Race Three Number 5 The Sprinkler

LONG SHOT: Race Eleven Number 11 Star Sirius
