Night racing returns to Canterbury this Friday. Weather is fine, track is soft (6) and the rail is out six metres for the entire circuit.

4 Namaste (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks the winner with a more positive ride. He debuted at Wyong where they rode with a sit and it didn’t work, but he did find the line well in defeat. I think if they send him to the front, he’ll be really hard to get past for mine.

3 Michelangelo (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a very interesting runner. Son of Trapeze Artist for Chris Waller that debuts off the back of a couple of trials where each time he has finished down the track but has moved well enough and he must be showing something for J Mac to ride. Watch the market.

1 Cosmic Avenger (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is under four weeks between runs for John Sargent since debuting at Randwick where he found them a bit sharp early but he picked up and was pretty good late in the piece when fourth. Depth here isn’t as deep and better for the run under the belt, he is a knockout chance.

3 The Enchanter (Bet Now:  $SP.00) on top but not really a race I want to get involved in. This guy has raced over this track/distance his past two, placing each time, the latest being two weeks ago when near the speed and fought on really well in defeat. Finds a winnable race, hard fit, racing well…the way I am leaning.

10 Super Eclipse (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a well bred daughter of Super Seth that debuts for Chris Waller. She has had two trials this time in to get ready for start one and each time she has looked pretty good. J Mac on and given how tight he is with Vela, the owner, he’d love to win on a filly owned by him.

1 Kendalia (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks suited up in trip for Joe Pride after debuting over 1150m on the Kenso. He got a fair way out of her ground and while he was never a winning threat, he did make up headway and was pretty good in defeat. If he can settle closer in the run, he’s dangerous enough to win.

2 Delrico (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the way I am leaning. Chris Waller trained three year old that is knocking on the door to win. Looked like that win would come on the Kenso last time but he bumped into a pretty good one I thought behind Blue Vein. The draw is tricky but he’ll press forward, J Mac on…the one to beat.

1 Pink Shalaa (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. He is a stablemate of Delrico that is racing well and has placed in each run this time in. Latest run came over 1400m on the Kenso and loomed large but just found one better. Racing like 1550m suits and overall, this isn’t a deep contest.

4 Perfectly Frosted (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looked an absolute moral earlier in the week at Grafton but the stable have kept him on ice with this race in mind. He ran in a 1400m maiden at Inverell last start when off speed and chased with purpose but found one better. Hard fit, in well after the claim…knockout hope.

5 Heed The Omens (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has been hit and miss this prep but his best can see him threaten. Latest run came at Canterbury over 1550m when off speed and kept chasing but found one better in Pretty Powerful, who was impressive. Maps ideally from the gate and should be strong late.

2 Bright Red (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is bursting to win. She ran at Rosehill last start when off speed and chased strongly late in the piece but was no match for the very much in form Perfumist. Back to midweek grade, J Mac on, kind map, she’s one of the leading contenders.

4 Edmond (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a winning chance. He ran behind Magnatear a few weeks back in the Midway at Wyong. He got off speed and was chasing from a fair way out but kept finding the line in a decent enough job in defeat. He’ll be strong late and is racing well so for mine, commands respect.

2 Go Troppo (Bet Now:  $SP.00) tends to save his best for Canterbury and I think with a more positive ride, he can take this out. He ran over 1800m on the Kenso last time where he landed outside the speed and tried hard but just couldn’t quite finish the job. Better suited at Canterbury, can settle on speed and on a firmer deck, he takes beating at odds.

5 Frankly Elegant (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has been runner up in all three runs this prep and with T Clark on, Blinkers back on…there is intent deluxe. Latest run came in the race mentioned above where she attempted to lead throughout and gave a strong kick from the front but just got nabbed late. Front end control, she takes running down.

3 King Of Florida (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should appreciate a rise to 1900m after resuming over 1550m on the Kenso where he got a fair way out of his ground and while he was never a winning threat, he kept finding the line and was pretty good in defeat. Maps to settle closer and has a stack of upside to come.

I am stunned that 7 Scintilla (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is $3+. I can mark her odds on. She is a very good filly IMO for Les Bridge. Barrier/negative ride beat her fresh before being ridden with intent last start and she made an absolute mess of them in dominant fashion. I think with a sit, a bunny to chase, she’ll be far more effective. Good luck beating her I say.

3 Flying Thinker (Bet Now:  $SP.00) will land on speed and take running down, as seen first up at Newcastle when leading throughout and credit to her, she gave a decent kick and was there to be run down but she found plenty under pressure to fend them off and win. She’ll run a beauty.

1 Art Volant (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes here with fresh legs, having not raced since Dec 28 at Randwick when just off the speed and tried hard but just couldn’t quite finish the job behind Unstopabull. Not sure he is good enough to beat the favourite but a must for exotics.

4 Memoria (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Kris Lees trained mare that resumes. This girl is first up, having not raced since Toowoomba Cup Day when finding a bog track and she couldn’t pick her feet up late in the piece behind Tara Jasmine. She is a bomb fresh horse and has trialled up really well for the return.

6 Vegas Raider (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is dangerous with his best. He ran over this track/distance last time where he scooted along in front and gave a decent sight but just felt the pinch late in the piece. If he can harness his energy better, he’s good enough to threaten.

8 Zoukerino (Bet Now:  $SP.00) would be a good thing at the Provincials but Jason Coyle has his stable going really well in recent weeks. This girl ran over 1250m here last time when back off the speed and kept chasing in a good effort in defeat. Like her back to a fast run 1100m and be strong at the end.

1 Oakfield Duke (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks a massive price here in the get out. He ran in a strong 78 at Rosehill last time where the race shape and shifty track wasn’t to his liking but I really liked the way he closed off his race in defeat behind South Of India. Back to 72 grade, he likes Canterbury, J Mac on…I am stunned he is not favourite.

6 Fury (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is knocking on the door. He ran over this trip at Newcastle last time when off speed and chased with purpose when second to impressive winner Angara. If he can overcome the tricky gate, he’ll be around the mark.

11 French Marine (Bet Now:  $SP.00) tends to race well at Canterbury and gets in really well after the claim. Latest run came at Wyong on Sunday when off speed and chased with purpose when second to the well backed King’s Duty. He can get a good sit in transit and be effective late.

BEST BET: Race Six Number 7 Scintilla

NEXT BEST: Race Eight Number 1 Oakfield Duke

LONG SHOT: Race Five Number 2 Go Troppo
