Race 1. (12:47) Sportsbet Get On Extra 3Yo Maiden Plate 1050m
3 Intellectual (Bet Now: $SP.00) for me in the opener. Team Jolly trained son of Written By that is on debut off the back of impressive trial work, winning a couple of trials and moving quite nicely. Toeroek could have had a few options here a ride, but goes with this first starter, which is a good lead.
13 Skadoosh (Bet Now: $SP.00) should be better for the debut run, which came over this trip at Balaklava. Not sure she was entirely happy on the bog track but she kept finding the line and was pretty good in defeat when second to Miss Tormenta. Better for the run and she had trialled like a rocket prior. Keen to see her bounce back.
1 Golden Guru (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a son of Toronado that is on debut for Andrew Gluyas. He has had solid enough trial/jumpout work in readiness for start one and each time he has stepped out, he has looked pretty good, so keen to see how he goes at start one. Watch betting.
Race 2. (13:22) Sportsbet Jockey Watch Handicap 2500m
9 Smiling Assassin (Bet Now: $SP.00) each way for me. Total forgive two weeks ago on the Parks track, sitting wide no cover for the trip, four wide, and tired late to finish down the track. He should be getting a much better run in transit this time around and he’ll stay all day so 2500m is fine.
3 Paradise Storm (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a key threat. He ran fourth to Goliotus a fortnight back on the Parks track, getting a mile out of his ground but worked home with real purpose late in the piece when beaten under a length. Like him up in trip and strikes a winnnable race.
5 Dixie Whistler (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes through the Goliotus race from two weeks back on the Parks track. She did work to lead and gave a decent kick from the front but just felt the pinch late in the piece. Not sure she is a horse I could back to win but is one for exotics.
Race 3. (13:57) Maughan Thiem Ford Ranger Handicap 1800m
3 Platinum Destroyer (Bet Now: $SP.00) is the way I am leaning here. Liam Howley trained gelding that ran over 2000m at Seymour last time where he got into a decent spot off speed and chased with purpose when second to stablemate She Said. Back to 1800m is fine and despite the wide gate, he’s the one to beat.
5 Burning Bright (Bet Now: $SP.00) is on the seven day back up for Andrew Gluyas after racing last Saturday at Morphettville Parks where she attempted to lead throughout and gave a strong kick from the front but just couldn’t quite see it through, nabbed on the peg by Rabtat. Back to 1800m is fine, good racign style, she clearly appeals as a key chance.
2 Divine Fire (Bet Now: $SP.00) has had a couple of runs back from a spell, both at 1200m, and is racing like 1800m will suit. Latest run was behind Delightful Shecky when making up some headway but was never really threatening. One for exotics.
Race 4. (14:32) Sa Retaining & Civil Handicap 1600m
4 Merchant Boss (Bet Now: $SP.00) is flying for Travis Doudle and is one of the key chances after his effort three weeks ago at this track/distance, getting the suck run in behind before angling clear and he put them away quite quickly to win well. Hard to beat once again.
6 Brave Star (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes through the Merchant Boss from three weeks back. He attempted to lead throughout and gave a decent kick from the front but just felt the pinch late in the piece when third. I think with a more patient steer, he can bounce back.
2 Fine Future (Bet Now: $SP.00) should appreciate a rise to the mile after resuming over 1400m at Murray Bridge where he he got back in the run and while he was never a winning threat, he kept chasing and was pretty good late in the piece behind Fast Bubbles. Fitter and up in trip, he’s an improver.
Race 5. (15:07) Superior Logistics Australia Handicap 1600m
1 Dark’N’Confidential (Bet Now: $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. He ran third two weeks ago on the Parks track where he got a fair way out of his ground and while he was never a winning threat, he worked home with purpose in a pretty good effort in defeat. Hard fit, 1600m, he appeals big time.
8 Amber Nook (Bet Now: $SP.00) had her first run for Francis/Kent two weeks ago at Morphettville Parks. She got a mile out of her ground and while she was never a winning threat, I liked the way she finsihed her race off in defeat behind Hot Strut. Like her up in trip and has good upside to come.
11 Bona Fide Star (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes through the Hot Strut race from two weeks back on the Parks track. He had a suck run in transit on the fence and tried hard but just couldn’t quite finsih the job but that said, he was far from disgraced. Not sure he wins, but runs top four.
Race 6. (15:42) Urbanvirons Group Handicap 1200m
4 Karavas (Bet Now: $SP.00) should take beating for Team Jolly after a first up win two weeks ago on the Parks track, giving them a start and a beating in quite an impressive performance. Good upside to come, good record on the course proper and up in trip, he takes beating.
7 Cicala (Bet Now: $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since resuming in the Behemoth Stakes where she was outclassed but far from disgraced in defeat behind Queman. Tick over trial last week was pretty good, she’ll be strong late and prior efforts were impressive.
1 Cotehele (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a very interesting runner. Formerly with O’Shea/Charlton, he now finds himself with Michael Hickmott. He hasn’t raced since Feb 1 at Rosehill when far from disgraced in defeat behind Yorkshire. Better suited over further but with class on his side, he has to be given respect.
Race 7. (16:22) House Inspect Australia Handicap 1600m
10 Tropical House (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a good mare for Jake Stephens and should take beating after a last start win on the course proper three weeks ago where she gave them a start and a beating, producing nice change up speed to give them a spanking. If she brings that here, she’s the likely winner.
9 Enciphering (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes here with fresh legs for Mick Huxtable. He hasn’t raced since July 30 at Balaklava when finding a heavy track, 2200m, and I reckon just found the journey a bridge too far behind Cuban Lord. Fresh legs and 1600m, he’s a definite improver.
11 Flyway (Bet Now: $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since racing over 1500m here. He got a fair way out of his ground and while he was never a winning threat, he kept finding the line and was pretty good late in the piece. Good record at the mile, I am not dismissing him.
Race 8. (16:57) Aceit Transport Solutions Handicap 1200m
14 Zunna (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Phillip Stokes trained mare that resumes. She did nice things when last in work to start her career, winning like a rocket on debut at Pakenham before racing there again and had her chance, tiring late. Given a good break and looks to have found a winnable race for the return.
15 Nicish (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a model of consistency and that should remain the same here. She ran second a fortnight back at Morphettville Parks, getting every chance from just off the speed and was there to win but had to settle for a second to Welcometotheshow. Hard fit, in form, she appeals.
7 Hypernova (Bet Now: $SP.00) has found winning form and he can certainly go on with it. That win came at the midweeks at Murray Bridge where the market took a set against him but after getting a suck run, wide with cover, he angled clear and made a mess of them late. He’s flying, he can win again.
Race 9. (17:32) Sportsbet Fast Form Handicap 1050m
4 Interest Point (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Matt Laurie trained gelding that resumes. He has had a good break to get ready for his return and with a couple of strong jumpouts under the belt, he looks ready to go and the market says he is here to play.
10 Halliwell (Bet Now: $SP.00) is flying for Jess Tzaferis. Three on the bounce, the latest at the midweeks on the Parks track when giving them a start and a beating in an impressive performance. Good test here but think she measures up.
8 Grand Host (Bet Now: $SP.00) lands on speed and is capable at odds. He hasn’t quite fired his past two, but his last run was July 19 so he does bring fresh legs back to this and with his racing style, he’ll give himself every chance.
