3/8/2024 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Murray Bridge

Nine races will be run and won at Murray Bridge on Saturday. Weather is fine, track is soft (5) and the rail is out 2.5 metres for the entire circuit.

8 Hollywood High (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should be winning. Formerly with Team McEvoy, she is now with Bain/Taylor and her form just reads far superior to these. She ran at Ballarat Synthetic last time and tried her guts out but found one better, but did beat the rest comfortably. The depth here isn’t deep and she only has to run up to her previous efforts to win.

7 Halliwell (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has been strong in two career outings and appeals. Michael Hickmott trained mare that has been runner up in both runs, the latest at Gawler when on speed but was one of the first off the bit. That said, she stayed on and was quite good in defeat. On the home track, she commands respect.

4 Mercury High (Bet Now:  $SP.00) lands on speed and will give a decent sight I am sure. He debuted over 1000m here when near the front and he tried hard but on debut, condition just gave way late in the piece behind Watchme Win. Better for the run, he’ll land near the front and take running down I am sure.

4 Maracourt (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is running out of chances but he is racing very well without winning. Latest run was over 1400m here three weeks ago. He got back to near last in the run, spotted those in front a tidy start, but finished off his race with purpose behind Dunalley. Good record on the home deck, hard to beat if he can settle closer.

6 Bonnie Gangster (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is bursting to win for the Grant Kluske stable. Runner up her past two, firstly at Gawler before backing up a week later and racing at this track/distance three weeks ago when game in defeat behind the very much in form mare Favourite Child. Only has to hold her form and I think she’ll take beating here.

7 Exopipi (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Jake Stephens trained mare that resumes. This girl is first up, having not raced since Nov 29 at Gawler when racing over 2100m and was a sharp winner from off the speed. 1600m is on the short side for her but she will be strong late and can sprint well fresh, so watch the market.

5 Smiling Assassin (Bet Now:  $SP.00) saves his best for this track/distance so I am going with him again. Just out toughed by Dixie Whistler two back before backing up a week later at Morphettville Parks where he was good in defeat but nowhere near as effective vs seven days prior. Back to where he races best, I think he’s the play, each way.

2 Dixie Whistler (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a few weeks between runs for Richards/Moyle since winning at this track/distance. As always, she is one of the first off the bit but she just kept finding under pressure and she was there to be beaten but she found, kicked and was too good. Very genuine mare and has to be respected.

6 King’s Crossing (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a very one paced type that will just keep chipping away. He ran over 2400m at Sandown last Wednesday where he just got too far back in the run but his finale was more than sound in defeat I thought. Should get a lovely run in transit, settle closer and be strong at the end.

2 Riverplate (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a tick under three weeks between runs since contesting the Narrandera Cup in search of a Big Dance berth but struggled on the bog behind Prince Of Helena, but I will say he was trapped wide no cover for the trip so a total forgive. 1/1 at the home track and looks well placed here.

5 Aitch D’Amico (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a definite improver for mine. He ran fourth to Favourite Child at Murray Bridge a few weeks back. He got back in the run and while he was never really a winning threat, he kept finding the line and was quite good in defeat when fourth. Dangerous if he can settle closer in the run.

8 Wheels (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since racing over 1400m here. She was second up and given she is a 2000m+ mare, she was always going to find them sharp and that’s how it eventuated. Much better set up this time around and her best is more than good enough to be dangerous.

4 Alainge (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an improving type for Stuart Padman. She is two weeks between runs since racing over 1400m at Morphettville Parks when back throughout and failed to get involved behind the in form Aiguilette. Better for the run, firmer deck and bigger track, she appeals.

11 Hateech (Bet Now:  $SP.00) can mix her form but she is a last start winner. She won last Wednesday at this track/distance when on speed throughout and was trucking before being clicked up and she showed nice change up speed late to win and win well. Harder here, but confident she can measure up.

6 Dawnburst (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance when getting a beaut run behind the speed and was there to win. Just lacked the killer blow to put them away late in the piece behind Dunalley. That was a strong 68. Now to a moderate 62, Mares grade, she clearly appeals.

8 Sixteen Reasons (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a definite improver on a firmer deck. She found testing ground two weeks ago at Morphettville Parks but that said, she didn’t disgrace herself at all in defeat behind Exalted Dame. Has run well at Murray Bridge previously and she seemingly has found a very winnable race IMO.

1 Klabel (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is flying for Team Jolly and is hard to beat. Four weeks between runs since a strong win at Gawler, making it two on the bounce. He had the suck run in transit and in a driving finish, he was too good for them, just. 1200m sees him right out IMO and now has a tricky draw, but is flying and commands respect.

6 The Guava (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks to have returned in good order. Shayne Cahill trained gelding that resumed at Murray Bridge, sitting wide with cover before angling wider and let down with nice change up speed, just getting the win over the fast finishing Jean Valjean. Hard to knock against these.

6 Cullen Skink (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks to have returned in excellent order and for mine, will take a power of beating. He resumed two weeks ago over 1250m at Morphettville Parks when back near last in the run and worked home with real purpose late in the piece behind Exalted Dame. Fitter and up to 1400m, he’s going to take beating here.

8 Aiguilette (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is racing in a purple patch for John Macmillan and commands respect. He has won two on the bounce, the latest coming over 1400m two weeks back over 1400m on the Parks track at Morphettville where he lapped up the wet ground and was quite dominant late. Good test here, but confident he can measure up.

3 Neodium (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a son of Terango that resumes for Phillip Stokes. This guy is first up, having not raced since March 16 when down the track over 1550m at Morphettville Parls behind Cullen Skink, who was flying at the time. 1400m fresh signals some form of intent and he strikes a winnable race. Watch the market.

14 Togetherforever (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is three weeks between runs for Michael Hickmott since resuming at this track/distance when wide with cover before angling wider and finished off her race well enough in defeat behind Orlabent. Good track/distance record and in a winnable race here, she’s going to take beating.

9 Babayka (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a ripper and should be around the mark. He ran three weeks ago at this track/distance when getting a suck run in transit and presented to win but couldn’t quite finish the job when second to Orlabent. Good racing style, genuine and in form. Leading chance.

15 Madam Furphy (Bet Now:  $SP.00) will land on the bunny and give a decent sight. She resumed over 900m last Wednesday here when doing a bit too much work on speed and that early burn just told late in the piece behind impressive winner Kaido. Good record at the track and with her racing style, she’ll give herself every chance.

3 Wine Barron (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the one to beat I say. Michael Hickmott trained gelding that ran two weeks ago over 1250m when back in the run but really liked his finale in defeat behind Darceandermill, finishing third. He can settle much closer in the run and with home track advantage, he appeals big time.

4 Commander Meroo (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should appreciate a rise to 1400m. He ran over 1250m two weeks back at Morphettville Parks where he got a fair way out of his ground and while he was never threatening, he found the line and was good in defeat behind noted swimmer Darceandermill. Like him up to 1400m and dangerous if he can settle closer.

15 Bulls On Parade (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a track/distance winner and has a good racing style. He attempted to lead throughout three weeks ago at this track/distance and gave a decent sight from the front but couldn’t quite see it through behind Dunalley, but was beaten just under three lengths. Back to this level, he’ll take beating.

NEXT BEST: Race Seven Number 6 Cullen Skink

LONG SHOT: Race Five Number 4 Alainge
