Doomben will conduct a nine event meeting on Saturday. Weather is fine, track is soft (5) and the rail is out 4.5 metres for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (11:38) Racecourse Village (Bm78) 2200m
3 Coup De Tonnerre (Bet Now:Β $SP.00), I think, picks himself. Two on the bounce for Jack Bruce, the latest being two weeks ago over this trip at Eagle Farm where he made a couple of runs in the race but he was strongest late and impressive in the run to the line. Can only see him holding his form and is clearly the one to beat.
6 Redwood Shadow (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is racing like he will appreciate a rise in trip for Team Sears. He ran over the mile at Ipswich last time out where he got back in the run and on the tight track, he just couldn’t really get involved and was never really a factor. I think on a bigger track and up in trip, he appeals.
7 Intuitu (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is fourth up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness for Annabel Neasham. He was a few lengths off Coup De Tonnerre two weeks back but I didn’t mind the way he finished his race off after getting a fair way back in the run. Can settle closer, has upside/progression and I am convinced he does have talent.
Race 2. (12:13) Country Music Raceday On Sale Now Hcp 1110m
2 Climactic (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks the one for me. Matty Dunn trained three year old that hasn’t raced since his debut back in the Spring in the Golden Gift at Rosehill when far from disgraced in defeat behind Shangri La Express. His two trials this prep have been outstanding and if the stable does have better races in mind, he’d want to be beating these.
3 Kahlisee (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a daughter of Dracarys for Chris Munce that resumes. This girl is first up, having not raced since the Calaway Gal when on speed and just tiring late in the piece behind Barbie’s Sister. Her trial work in getting ready for the return has been great and will press forward. Likeable.
10 Sheza Chiquitita (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Kevin Kemp trained filly that is first up, having not raced since the Magic Millions at the Gold Coast when outclassed, finishing down the track behind impressive winner Storm Boy. No public trials for her return but being at Toowoomba, I assume she’s had a jumpout or two. Watch the market.
Race 3. (12:48) Celebrating Horses' Birthday (Bm78) 1110m
5 Brereton (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should take beating here for Tony Gollan. First run for the camp came three weeks ago at this track/distance when getting the sweet sit in transit just off the speed before angling into clear air and he knuckled down with purpose late in the piece to win and win well. He’s got good upside/improvement, hard to beat I say.
14 Jayanthi (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has more upside than most and rates highly for mine. She resumed behind Liquor a fortnight back. She was unwanted in betting but defied the drift and ran a super race from the back when second to the Gollan sprinter. Good upside to come, she can settle closer and still be effective at the end.
8 Introducing (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Stuart Kendrick trained gelding that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since April 20 at Eagle Farm when held but far from disgraced in defeat behind Hidden Wealth. He is a horse who can sprint well on the fresh and has trialled nicely leading in. has a good record at Doomben and should take beating for Tony Gollan. He comes through the James Kirby on Grafton Cup Day where he was just run off his legs in defeat but kept finding the line when third to Compelling Truth. Back to where he races well, can settle closer, hard to beat.
Race 4. (13:23) National Jockey Celebration Day Plate (C3) 1200m
7 Rebel Shadow (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is the one to beat. He ran in the Midway won by Herb a fortnight back at Rosehill. He got into a decent spot just off the speed and tried hard but just couldn’t quite get there when a close up third. I think 1200m is ideal and with a soft trip in transit, he’s the one to beat.
2 Daytona (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has been hard to catch this time in but I do think he is more than capable of figuring in the finish. He was near the speed behind Battlefield a fortnight back and just couldn’t go on with it in the straight, beaten four lengths. His best is more than good enough. Just needs to show it here.
4 Mintaka Lad (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is capable with his best. David Vandyke trained gelding that ran at this track/distance three weeks back when back off the speed, doing a bit of early work, but trucked and loomed large but had to settle for a narrow second to Mount Fuji. Harder here, but commands some level of respect.
Race 5. (13:58) Cascade (Bm68) 1630m
12 Super Chilled (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks hard to beat. Chris Waller trained mare that is three weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance when back off the speed and spotting those in front a start but I did like the way he found the line late in the piece behind Cunnamulla Fella. If she can settle closer in the run, she’ll take holding out.
7 Tannenburg (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a talented three year old for Chris Waller and has found winning form, with that win coming over the mile at Eagle Farm a few weeks back when giving them a start and a beating in a strong effort. Lightly raced, heading in the right direction and should prove hard to beat.
6 Victory Win (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes back in trip for Annabel Neasham after racing over 1800m at Eagle Farm when back off the speed and while he was never really threatening, he stayed on and was sound in defeat behind Brookhaven. Back to the mile I do like and in a truly run race, he should be one of the strongest late.
Race 6. (14:33) Become A Brc Member Hcp 1630m
1 Lord Ardmore (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is on the seven day back up after racing last Saturday over 2000m here. He got into a decent spot just off the speed before angling clear and although one paced, he kept on and was quite good in defeat behind Rogue Bear. Truly run mile, he’ll sit back again and be quite strong at the end.
2 Without Revenge (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is flying for Team Geran and commands respect. His last couple of runs have come at Eagle Farm, winning two back in impressive fashion before racing a fortnight back when on speed and fought hard but couldn’t quite see it through behind A Deel Of Humour. Good racing style and hard fit, he appeals.
3 Sea Raider (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is two weeks back between runs since racing over the mile at Eagle Farm. He got back off the speed and seemingly had his chance but stayed on and was sound enough in defeat behind A Deel Of Humour. He has that 1600m run under the belt, which should hold him in good stead for this.
Race 7. (15:08) U&U Recruitment Hcp 1050m
3 Boom Torque (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a talented animal for Matty Dunn that resumes. This guy is first up and I dare say the stable has eyes on The Kosciuszko. He is first up, having not raced since March 9 when placing at the Gold Coast in a strong Jewel race won by Legal Esprit. He can sprint well on the fresh and he has looked outstanding in a couple of trial wins. Keen to see how he goes.
1 Brudenell (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is the class factor and that will carry him a long way. He resumed on the bog at the Sunny Coast where he looked in need of the run and I also think he struggled in the conditions behind Nettuno. Firmer deck and back in grade/depth, he is going to take beating.
15 Economics (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks suited at 1050m I feel for Stuart Kendrick. He ran over 1110m here three weeks back when attempting to lead throughout and giving a decent enough kick but just couldn’t quite see it through when beaten just over 2.5L by Brereton. Back to the short course, good racing style, he will give a decent sight.
Race 8. (15:48) The Gibson Plate (C6) 1350m
9 Rockribbed (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks the winner, all things being equal. He was hard in the market last time out in the Rocky Newmarket but for mine, he had his chance and was a bit on the plain side late in the piece. Prior win at Ipswich was dominant and off that, he’ll take beating against this lot.
5 Atlantic Ocean (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is humming for Chris Waller and rates highly. Three weeks between runs since a track/distance win, making it two on the bounce, beating Flying Trapeze, who won last Saturday, so the form reads super and he only has to run up to recent efforts to he around the mark.
18 Too Hard To Refuse (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should appreciate a rise in trip. He ran over 1110m a few weeks back here when wide and doing work early, just feeling the pinch late in the piece behind Brereton. The drop in depth here is significant and with better luck in running, he’s going to take beating I say.
Race 9. (16:23) Ladbrokes Communities (Bm85) 1200m
6 Manhood (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks to have returned in pretty good order off a break and rates highly here. He ran over 1200m at Eagle Farm two weeks ago when near the speed throughout and presented to win early on in the straight but he just couldn’t quite see it through when third to Tectonic Plate. Fitter, he takes beating I say.
8 Pizarro (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) can bounce back for Tony Gollan. He ran over 1350m here three weeks ago where he just got too far back in the run behind Atlantic Ocean but I will say I think 1350m sees him right out so fresh legs and back to 1200m, with a kind map, he is a big threat.
21 Safework (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a knockout hope and a big price IMO. Three weeks between runs since contesting the Brereton race here when specked at odds and he ran up to that market push, closing off quite well late in the piece to run third. This race isn’t much harder, maps to get a soft trip…dangerous.
