Racing continues at Eagle Farm this Saturday, with the track holding up pretty well despite a heavy workload so here’s hoping that remains the case this weekend. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out six metres for the entire circuit.

Race One (13:32) : Tilad Construction Handicap 1600m:
Back Me: 7 Meadow (Bet Now: $6.50) is the one with upside and rises in grade but has to be respected. He ran in a Doomben maiden last time out and took a little while to let down but when he balanced up he really attacked the line and won like a horse going places. Eagle Farm will really suit and i think he is a knockout chance.
Big Danger: 1 Balboa Rocks (Bet Now: $3.20) won that race mentioned above and his effort was huge considering he had to carry the big weight and he looked gone several times but he just kept finding and lifted hard late to win in the last stride. Probably a little query at a strong mile, but he is the proven performer.
Long Shot: 5 Mola Ram (Bet Now: $6.00) ran at the midweeks at Ipswich on October 14 over this trip where he got a mile back in the run and finished off strongly late in the piece when running fourth to Taiyohsin, beaten just over a length. He does have the run over the mile under his belt, which helps, and he will be strong at the end, plus he can sit closer from the gate.
Race Two (14:13) : Lite ‘N’ Easy Handicap 1000m:
Back Me: 9 Porcini (Bet Now: $8.00) is a colt that debuts for the Steve O’Dea yard who comes here off the back of a sharp trial win at Deagon last Tuesday where he led and bolted up to win under triple wraps. Looks well above average and has the potential to be the best two year old we’ve seen in Queensland this season at this stage.
Long Shot: 5 Clairvue (Bet Now: $8.50) is a well bred colt for Liam Birchley who comes here with no trials behind him, but on breeding he should be talented given the mum did contest some classy races earlier in her career. Stable also have a good record with their youngsters. Definite market watch given he has been scratched a few times.
Big Danger: 12 Wirraway (Bet Now: $21.00) debuted over this track/distance a fortnight back where he had market support at odds and to an extent it was justified when he sat on speed and fought on very well when running fourth to the above average filly Dream Kisses. Should take good improvement off that and has race experience.
Race Three (14:57) : Mount Alverina College Handicap (0MW) 1000m:
Back Me: 9 Invincible Express (Bet Now: $2.15) looks the clear horse to beat. He ran over 900m at the Gold Coast last Wednesday where she took cover in the run before peeling clear on the turn and putting his rivals away with a fair bit of ease. She’s been kept away from town so far since coming to Queensland but now is the right time to tackle it.
Big Danger: 6 Abracadash (Bet Now: $6.00) ran at the midweeks at Doomben on October 12 where she had the nice sit just off the speed and presented to win the race when asked, but she was no match for Notonyourlife. Should take good improvement from that and she has performed well in two runs at the track.
Roughie: 4 Alpen Rose (Bet Now: $9.00) ran over this track/distance a fortnight back and just forget she went around given she was four wide no cover on a genuine speed and faded out of it behind Frequendly. Draws much better now and the claim for Tiff Brooker means she will only carry 52.5kg. Great knockout chance if she brings her best.
Race Four (15:39) : Aitkenvale Family Health Centre Handicap (Class 6) 1200m:
Back Me: 4 Alaskan Wolf (Bet Now: $10.00) is a Wyong visitor who ran at the Gold Coast last Wednesday and she was ridden an absolute treat by Larry Cassidy, sitting in the right spot with cover before peeling wide on the turn and though probably going a bit early, she found plenty when challenged to grip on. Harder here, but given that was her first run in around seven weeks, there should be enormous upside.
Big Danger: 2 Shamfrancisco (Bet Now: $2.10) looks the obvious threat. She finished off strongly two back at Doomben behind Top Tone before racing on her home track at the Sunny Coast and she bolted up. She’ll be up on speed, running along and giving them something to chase. Last 100m will be the test.
Long Shot: 1 Col ‘N’ Lil (Bet Now: $26.00) is the clear class mare that resumes for Ben Currie. She contested some quality races during the Winter Carnival, ending with a down the track effort in the Brisbane Cup. She is a two time first up winner and she did sprint sharply to win first up last time in. Claim for Oliver really helps and he rides the mare well.
Race Five (16:24) : Weareco Handicap (75) 2406m:
Back Me: It was a funny run from 7 Lever Lever (Bet Now: $3.20) over this track/distance a fortnight back where the lead was chopped/changed several times and he eventually took it up. Was under pressure before the turn and looked gone several times but he just kept finding to only go down in the last stride courtesy of Emerald City. Maps well here and that hard run should top him off beautifully for this.
Big Danger: 1 Mr One Eleven (Bet Now: $7.00) ran fourth in that race mentioned above and I thought his effort was pretty tidy given he had the soft run just off the tempo and probably ahd his chance, but he stuck on very well and was only beaten 3.5L. Not as much depth here compared to last start, and that race does look the right form line for this assignment.
Long Shot: Jimmy Orman definitely hit the button a tad early on 6 Tralee Chorus (Bet Now: $8.00) last time out at the Sunny Coast, shooting to the lead early on in the straight and she had enough with around 100m to go but still kicked on to win. Big track at this distance looks ideal and I think there is upside left in what looks a very tricky race.
Race Six (17:09) : Hillross Montefiore & Co Plate (Class 3) 1830m:
Back Me: 13 Halls Creek (Bet Now: $16.00) ran over the mile here a fortnight back and I thought his effort was pretty good. He sat back near last in the run and despite not being a winning threat, he finished off and hit the line pretty well. Up to 1830m here is ideal and he is another that has upside left I suspect.
Big Danger: 8 Saga Miss (Bet Now: $2.20) had the charmed run behind the tempo when racing at this distance last Wednesday at the Gold Coast and when Nathan Day let her down, she sprinted sharply and put the race away in a couple of strides. Has been kept away from city grade this prep but given the form she is in, now seems the right time to tackle better opposition.
Long Shot: 6 Zimbali (Bet Now: $31.00) started bolters odds when racing here over the mile a fortnight back and I thought he stuck to the task pretty well I thought when a three length sixth to the in form galloper Beckoning Light. Third up, so he should be getting closer to peak fitness, draws well and Tarrant remains on.
Race Seven (17:52) : Padua College Handicap 1400m:
Back Me: The potential has always been there with 12 Sharpe Hussler (Bet Now: $8.50) and it was all out in full force over 1300m here a fortnight back where he sat back in the ruck before Robbie Fradd eased him wide and when he gave the horse a click, it was race over and he careered right away. He will relish the rise to 1400m and just needs to come wide with no interruptions to look the winner at some point.
Big Danger: 8 One Inch Punch (Bet Now: $2.70) ran over this track/distance two weeks ago where he was wide no cover for the trip, much like the start prior, and really on both occasions he had every right to drop out but kept finding under hard riding from Lloyd to win two back and then here two weeks ago running a game fourth to Punta Norte. Just needs better luck to be right in the mix.
Long Shot: 3 Jopa (Bet Now: $12.00) is nine years of age, but gee is racing as well as ever, winning two on the bounce, both coming at the Doomben 1350m. Yet to really fire at Eagle Farm but that last start/win was following a five week break between runs, so he should have upside coming into this event.
Race Eight (18:30) : Jim McKeering Real Estate Handicap (Class 6) 1200m:
Back Me: 5 Man of His Word (Bet Now: $3.70) was completley luckless two back at Doomben before going to Randwick where he had market support and worked home strongly late when running fourth to Invinzabeel, who is one of the in form ratings horses in Sydney at the moment. That reads very well for this kind of race and he rates highly IMO.
Big Danger: 7 Tailevent (Bet Now: $8.50) chased hard when racing here two back behind Marscay Force before going to Randwick and he was okay without setting the world on fire behidn Denpurr. Really good record at Eagle Farm, hard fit and in form. Ticks alot of boxes.
Long Shot: 6 Consorting (Bet Now: $51.00) is on the back up after racing here last Saturday where he didn’t have the most amount of room in the straight when appearing to have something to offer when a close up fourth to Better Land. I think drawn out will help his cause and he does get a 3.5kg weight drop from that run. Knockout chance at odds.
