The Summer Carnival at Ascot continues this Saturday with a couple of $150,000 Group lll events highlighting the program, the Princes Of Wales Stakes (1000m) and Asian Beau Stakes (1400m). The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

Race One (15:34) : Heineken Plate 1000m:

Back Me: 9 Ibiza  (Bet Now: $2.50) is a filly that debuts for Darren Mcauliffe. She comes here off the back of a sharp trial win over 400m at Lark Hill where she won by a space and ran time. Happy to be in her corner.
Big Danger: 1 Golden Trigger (Bet Now: $2.60) debuted over this track/distance a fortnight back where he sat off speed and chased hard down the entire straight when running a game second to Seannie. He has the race experience on his side and that is a plus with these early two year old races.
Long Shot: 3 Hard Of Heart (Bet Now: $8.00) is a Snitzel colt on debut for the Nick Cox yard. Here comes here off the back of two Lark Hill trial placings, the latest coming on October 17 behind Mystery Affair. Draws a touch awkwardly but I like the fact that Harvey sticks.

Race Two (16:19) : JJ Richards & Son Plate 1000m:

Back Me: 1 Sweet Ora (Bet Now: $1.65) ran in the feature three year old race at Bunbury last time out where she sat back near last in the run and finished off with real purpose to run a close up second to I Am Boudica. 1000m is her go IMO, and she’s hard fit, so she ticks a lot of boxes.
Big Danger: 4 Diamond Princess (Bet Now: $12.00) ran at Bunbury last Thursday where she attempted to lead all the way and gave a really good kick but was nabbed near the peg by Sixpence Spent. Performed well in town in a couple of runs prior, so she can measure up here.
Long Shot: 9 Miss Somebody (Bet Now: $11.00) broke her maiden status in impressive fashion a tick over two weeks ago at Northam where she led throughout and got the win narrowly but impressively. Outside Sweet Ora, this is a thin race. One to include in multiples.

Race Three (17:04) : Champion Fillies Day November 12 Handicap (72+) 1600m:

Back Me: 3 Star Exhibit (Bet Now: $3.70) resumed over 1500m here a fortnight back where he sat back near last in the run and chased hard against a slow tempo when running a close up fourth to Infathuated. Up to the mile really suits and he has a fabulous second up record.
Big Danger: 4 Scales Of Justice (Bet Now: $2.40) is on the back up after racing over 1400m here last Saturday where he was a well backed short priced elect and he looked the winner most of the way until the last stride when nabbed by Tradesman. Up to the mile appears as though it will suit and he has the fitness edge.
Long Shot: 5 Kia Ora Koutou (Bet Now: $8.00) is a quality four year old that resumes for the Durrant/Miller yard. This time last year he was very unlucky in the Victoria Derby behind Tarzino and while he didn’t quite go on with it during the Carnival here, he ran well enough. Trials leading in have been good and while he is better over further, he has class on his side.

Race Four (17:48) : Schweppes Handicap (1MW) 1500m:

Back Me: 3 Forever Diamonds (Bet Now: $2.50) ran on the feature Bunbury meeting a couple of Wednesday’s back and I thought her effort in defeat was pretty good considering the tempo was well against her. The winner of the race ran okay last weekend, but with this mare, I think up to 1500m is going to really suit.
Big Danger: 9 Someday One Day (Bet Now: $8.00) broke the maiden tag in fine style two back at Belmont, aided by a peach from Pike, before going to Bunbury where he beat all bar Prying Tom. Has to step it up another level or two here, but is hard fit and in good form, and he will do no work from the gate.
Long Shot: 1 Casino Belle (Bet Now: $16.00) is a former Kagoorlie mare that had his first run in the city here a fortnight back where he sat on speed and fought on very strongly when running a close up third to War God. He should only improve off that and despite carrying topweight, he has to be respected.

Race Five (18:20) : Kirin Megumi Handicap (72+) 1200m:

Back Me: 8 State Solicitor (Bet Now: $1.60) is a potential star that resumes for the Williams camp. He really showed his potential last time in, winning a stack of races on the trot and showing us he has the potential to be a Group l horse and the trial win leading in backs that up. Ready to run a beauty.
Big Danger: 7 Let It Slip (Bet Now: $9.00) comes right back in grade after contesting the Northerly last start where she got back in the run and closed off strongly late in the piece behind Lite’n In My Veins. Just needs to reproduce that to look the winner at some stage.
Long Shot: 10 Dreamtime Dancer (Bet Now: $21.00) is a quality mare that is first up for the Durrant/Miller stable. She resumes after coming through the Oaks path where she ran well without winning. Trials leading in have been encouraging and though her best form is over further, she will be strong late.

Race Six (19:00) : Prince Of Wales Stakes 1000m:

Back Me: Going to take a chance on the rising four year old 5 Vega Magic (Bet Now: $2.80). He resumes here for Sean Casey after a brilliant prep last time in, going through the grades and doing it in style. Trial win was very sharp and though not quite suited at WFA, he just has enormous upside.
Big Danger: 2 First Among Equals (Bet Now: $5.00) has been freshened up since running a close up second to Idyllic Prince at Belmont where he tried his guts out but couldn’t quite get the job done. Freshened up with no trials, but he does perform very well fresh and has class.
Long Shot: 3 Battle Hero (Bet Now: $5.50) is a very good galloper that resumes for Team Williams. He ran some strong races during the Winter Carnival here, highlighted by a brilliant triumph in the Roma Cup. Trials leading in have been sharp and he is one horse who is suited at WFA.

Race Seven (19:35) : Seacorp Asian Beau Stakes 1400m:

Back Me: 7 Heart Starter (Bet Now: $2.90) resumed at Bunbury in a hot race where Pike steered and he chose correctly as the horse powered to the line and got the win over Chocolate Holic, who franked the form by winning the Northam Cup. Stable are throwing him in the deep end but you really can’t ignore anything they do.
Big Danger: 4 Neverland (Bet Now: $6.50) resumed in the Northerly and I thought her effort was very good in defeat given she was back near last in the run and worked home strongly with purpose late. Draws much better here, so I think she can sit closer in the run and looms as the knockout chance.
Long Shot: 1 Wink And A Nod (Bet Now: $31.00) also comes through the Northerly where she sat back off them in the run and chased okay without setting the world on fire. She has been a star for the long time and is getting hurt at the weights, but she is just so classy that she can’t be ignored.

Race Eight (20:15) : Stone Motherless After The Races Handicap (1MW) 1100m:

Back Me: 3 Brackets (Bet Now: $4.00) looks the perfect get out for punters. Has had no luck with gates in recent times but still continues to race well, as we saw a fortnight back behind Viking Forest. Gate one, Pike sticks…I think he wins.
Big Danger: 5 War In Paris (Bet Now: $8.00) has been given a little freshen up since dominating in a couple of races during the Kalgoorlie Carnival. Her form and efforts in town prior were just fair, but perhaps she is in a much better frame of mind now.
Long Shot: 7 Sigil (Bet Now: $11.00) is a handy middle distance type that is first up here for the Sharon Miller yard. Had a pretty good prep during the Autumn/Winter, winning a couple of races and rarely running poorly. He will improve on whatever he does here, but I think he can sprint well fresh.
