29/5/2021 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Randwick

Nine races will be run and won at Randwick this Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is soft (6) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

I’m with 7 Sacred Field (Bet Now: $2.00), a Team Hawkes trained colt that is on debut. He has had two trials to get ready. Bolted up at Rosehill on wet ground before a really nice piece of work on the Poly at Warwick Farm last Monday, this time ridden more conservatively. He looks a good one and confident he can overcome the wide draw and make a winning debut.

2 Conexy (Bet Now: $9.00) should be suited here for Chris Waller. Resumed three weeks ago at Gosford and didn’t get the best of luck in the straight. But, to be fair, I doubt he was beating impressive winner Overpass. He has a tricky draw to overcome but the form around him overall does read well.

9 Princess Spice (Bet Now: $26.00) rises a fair bit in grade/depth, but the big tick for her is both starts this time in, she has won them both and they have each come against older horses, which is always such a positive sign for a young horse. Has she beaten much? No, but 2/2, she has earned a crack at metro level.

If Loving Cilla gets a run I’ll be with her but being sixth emergency, it’s unlikely she gets a run. 2 Mr Wong (Bet Now: $11.00) is flying for Stephen Jones and hopefully the rub of the green goes his way this time around. Not much went right fresh at Randwick, mostly his doing. Then went to Gosford for the Highway there and got a mile out of his ground before eventually getting to the outside and savaging the line. Has to be hard to beat here.

6 Don’tforgetmonica (Bet Now: $5.50) is a progressive mare for Cameron Crockett that looked extremely hard to beat two weeks ago at Rosehill in a Highway and the ride from young Jones ensured she was a good thing. Sat her closer in the run, got out in plenty of time and she was dominant. She can go on with it.

15 Tipping Point (Bet Now: $11.00) is a nice three year old for the Freedman camp. Had good specking at odds when racing at Rosehill a fortnight back and he ran right up to that market push, closing off strongly from the back when second to Don’tforgetmonica. Would love him at a mile, so back to 1400m is the query, but he’s progressive with upside.

If in doubt, just go with Maher/Eustace at 2000m+ and I’ll be doing that with 5 Feel The Rush (Bet Now: $9.50). She was far from disgraced I thought two back in the Chairmans, which was the A1 form when it came to the Sydney Cup. She was then freshened up, ran at Warwick Farm and was good late. Significant jockey upgrade and she’s hard fit now.

7 Sound Of Cannons (Bet Now: $9.50) looks ready to show something near his best. Was a few weeks between runs when racing at Warwick Farm last time out. He kept surging out wide, but just missed out on the win when a narrow second to Brown Thomas. Gets a bit of weight relief and has more upside than most.

11 Sky Horse (Bet Now: $5.00) will be popular given the stable she is in and the fact she only carries 51kg after the claim, and we have seen recently that below the minimum weight is gold. She had her chance in the Warrnambool Cup but we saw that form ticked off big time by Heart Of Puissance, who spanked some of these types at Warwick Farm prior to going back to Victoria, so the form around her reads well.

10 Obvious Step (Bet Now: $9.50) for me. David Payne trained filly that was on trial for the Oaks but didn’t measure up in the Adrian Knox. Fresh legs and ran on the Kenso track where she had zero luck behind Fashchanel. Right down in the weights and her best figures have come on wet ground so a drop of rain would be ideal.

4 Vitesse (Bet Now: $14.00) is a Chris Waller trained mare that does like racing at Randwick and should prove to be a leading chance back to Mares grade. Ran two weeks ago at Rosehill where she attempted to lead throughout. Gave a solid kick under Clark but couldn’t match it with a smart one, Count De Rupee, and had to settle for fourth. Back to this level, she appeals.

8 Tardis (Bet Now: $21.00) is an honest mare for Ed O’Rourke who should be around the mark once again. That was the case several weeks ago at Doomben when a close up third to Starvirgo. Had every chance and was fence in run, which was gold that meeting, but liked the way she finished off. One for multiples.

11 Tiny (Bet Now: $12.00) should appreciate the rise to 1200m. This filly resumed over 1100m at Warwick Farm. Got a fair way back in the run and was never really a winning threat, but liked her finale when second to impressive winner Turnstyle. Was very good second up last prep behind Never Talk, which clearly reads well for this.

Getting to a bigger track should be idea for 10 Lennon (Bet Now: $8.00) for Les Bridge. Both runs this time in have come at Canterbury and I’m just not sure that tight track is to his liking. Still, he has run well on both occasions. Gets in well after the claim and third up, should be hard fit.

3 Rock My Wand (Bet Now: $20.00) deserves another chance. This filly resumed two weeks ago in the Denise’s Joy and on face value, she was terrible behind Ballistic Lover, but was found post race to have had a wound to her offside neck, so there were excuses. Generally gets better as the prep goes on so she deserves another chance.

6 Wandabaa (Bet Now: $4.80) is a quality mare who loves Randwick and loves to get her toe in, so she gets her A1 set up here. Four weeks between runs since contesting the Hawkesbury Crown. She worked home well without threatening but do feel that 1300m was a stretch, especially on firm ground. Back to 1100m, she appeals big time.

4 Albumin (Bet Now: $16.00) is an absolute beauty for the Ryan/Alexiou camp. Most had him penned in the Ortensia due to the wet track but nobody told the horse that. He produced an electric finale off a good speed, driving through to get the win in a close photo finish. Last time he was at Randwick, he was 3.9L off Masked Crusader, which clearly reads well.

1 Tactical Advantage (Bet Now: $31.00) might need the run, but he has a touch of class about him. First up for Kris Lees, having not raced since Boxing Day in the Falvelon when far from disgraced behind Roheryn. His two trials to get ready have been encouraging and can definitely run a positive race fresh.

I love 3 April Rain (Bet Now: $1.95) and I am really keen on her bouncing back. Just missed fresh at Gosford. Had to make a sustained run from a fair way back. Just couldn’t quite get there when a narrow second to Stellar Pauline. She is blacktype quality. That can’t be said about the rest so she’s clearly the one to beat.

It was an absolute peach steer from JVO to get 5 Dream Circle (Bet Now: $6.00) the win fresh at Rosehill a fortnight back. Tracked up nicely behind the front pack. Just a matter of getting the split and the patience game was rewarded. The gap appeared, he drove through and was too good. Hard to beat with upside and up to a more suitable trip.

4 Criminal Code (Bet Now: $46.00) will be better suited over further but he does have his share of talent for Chris Waller. Resumes here and will likely need the run, but he can pull out a positive effort fresh and really, outside April Rain, this race doesn’t have a great deal of substance to it.

11 Brutality (Bet Now: $6.00) is on track for a good prep I feel. He was only second up when racing in The Coast at Gosford and I loved the way he closed off from near last in the run when third to Brandenburg. He loves getting his toe in, so rain forecast is ideal for him and he’s got more upside than most.

9 True Detective (Bet Now: $8.00) has returned really well for Chris Waller and is hard to beat here. He ran two weeks ago in the Luskin Star at Rosehill and didn’t stop chasing, though clearly no match for a potential star in Lost And Running. Randwick 1400m with a little bit of juice in the track looks an ideal set up.

4 Dealmaker (Bet Now: $18.00) might need one more but I think he’s in for a fruitful Winter. Resumed in the Luskin Star and I really liked the way he found the line late out wide when third to Lost And Running. He is better suited at the mile so he might need one more run, but hard to ignore the resumption.

7 Hulk (Bet Now: $4.20) is in for a good prep. Resumed two weeks ago at Rosehill when tardy away but was able to track up beautifully. Presented to win but just found one better in Dream Circle, just. He is loving life as a short course sprinter so the 1100m here is fine and he rates highly against this lot.

8 Belluci Babe (Bet Now: $4.20) has good form at Randwick and I think can be a threat against this lot. She was a month between runs when racing over 1100m at Rosehill two weeks back. Had three wide cover and looked to be a winning threat when asked to go. Just didn’t quite finish it off and had to settle for third. Fitter, I think she’s a key chance.

14 Accelerato (Bet Now: $20.00) is one I could include in wider multiples. Had the A1 run in transit when winning at Warwick Farm fresh, getting the suck run behind hot pot Sixgun and was able to wear him down late. Harder here, but loves wet ground and another with upside.

NEXT BEST: Race Six Number 6 Wandabaa

LONG SHOT: Race Four Number 10 Obvious Step
