Ten races have been set down for Doomben this Saturday for Recognition Stakes Day. The weather is fine, the track is soft (7) and the rail is out 2.5 metres for the entire circuit.

2 Clear Proof (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is three weeks between runs for John Thompson since racing in the Midway at Rosehill. He got a fair way off speed and while he was never really threatening, he kept chasing and was pretty good in defeat behind Oakfield Jupiter. Looks extremely hard to beat here.

4 Land Bank (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an interesting runner. Formerly with Price/Kent, he is now with Tony Gollan. His last run came on Oct 28 at Hawkesbury over 1100m when off speed and held up at times in a somewhat ugly watch behind Nesrine. The rise to 1350m off a mini break I find interesting but respect any market moves.

7 Autumngirl (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since resuming over 1200m at Eagle Farm where she got off speed and was quite keen in the run but didn’t have much left for the straight and was a tired horse behind Now Is The Hour. She can run an improved race at odds.

1 Rattle And Hum (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should be better for the first up run, which came under the lights at Canterbury. He just found them too sharp over 1550m but did like the way he kept on and was far from disgraced. Fitter and up in trip, good upside and this is a thin Saturday metro race.

5 Mannerheim (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since racing over 1800m at Eagle Farm. He got off speed from the inside gate and although he did make up ground, he was never really threatening behind Cavalry Man. Like him at 2000m and he does seem to race better at Doomben vs Eagle Farm.

8 Around The Buoy (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a key chance for Team Munce. He ran over this track/distance last Wednesday when off speed and was keen but did pick up and was quite good in defeat behind the in form Tommy Thug. Not a deep race this so I say he commands respect.

13 Little Jeanie (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is flying for Jack Bruce and is one of the hardest to beat. Couple of weeks between runs since an impressive win over 1500m at Eagle Farm, getting off speed before tracking nicely into the race and she made a mess of them late to win and win well. Flying this girl and has to be hard to beat against these.

6 Perfect Play (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is racing well for Team Archibald and should be around the mark. He was a real eye catcher three weeks ago when back and made up decent headway late behind Margots Deel. Likely spots them a start but should be strong late.

11 Toro Strike (Bet Now:  $SP.00) ran over this track/distance last Wednesday where he got a fair way off speed and while he was never threatening, he kept chasing and was pretty good in defeat I thought behind Sanctuary Storm. Has a gate to use to settle much closer, knockout chance.

2 Corfe Castle (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is several weeks between runs since resuming at this track/distance. He attempted to lead throughout and credit to him he did give a strong kick but had no answers late for the very much in form Anemacore. Good racing style, tick over trial was strong, he’s a key chance.

12 Heyoka (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is knocking on the door for Matty Hoysted. She last raced on Oct 4 over this track/distance when on speed and tried hard but had no answers late for the finale of Freeland. Good racing style and a recent tick over trial was pretty good.

5 Our Magnus (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since racing over 1200m at Eagle Farm. He got back in the run, was held up, checked, keen, and didn’t really have much left for a finale behind Boomtown Boss. Like him back up in trip and his best is clearly good enough.

9 Balance The Books (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks a really nice prospect. Tony Gollan trained mare that is 2/2 to start her career, the second win being first up at Eagle Farm on Cup Day where she gave them a start and a beating in a very impressive performance. If she handles Doomben, she wins.

2 Pierata’s Gem (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Team Munce trained mare that resumed with a strong second at the Gold Coast when near the speed and tried hard but just found one better. Leading contender with good upside.

3 Dream Smart (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes a fair way back in grade/depth after racing two weeks back over this track/distance in a strong Class 6 when doing too much early work from the wide gate and the hard run just told. Better run in transit this time around, she can run an improved race.

4 First Mission (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is racing well for Kelly Schweida and should be hard to beat after racing over 1200m at Eagle Farm a few weeks ago. He got into a decent spot just off the pace before being presented clear air. Lacked a real turn of foot but kept on in defeat behind Negotiations. Suited here and is hard to beat.

12 Now Is The Hour (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is three weeks between runs for Tony Gollan since a win over this trip at Eagle Farm when getting front end control and he gave nothing else a look in, leading throughout and was dominant in the run to the line. Good racing style and will take running down once again.

10 More Trouble (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Jack Bruce trained gelding that resumes. He is first up, having not raced since May 3 over the mile at Eagle Farm. He was quite one paced and perhaps it was an end of prep run. Trialled well and he does race good on the fresh side, so watch betting.

9 Sunset Dreaming (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was quite good in the Keith Noud I thought. The race shape was against her and she was never really a winning threat but I did like the way she closed her race off in defeat. Fitter, back to Mares grade, she takes a power of beating.

5 Midnight In Tokyo (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is bursting to do something big. Race shape was against her in the Keith Noud when resuming but gee she finished off her race with real purpose when second to Epic Proportions. Fitter and back to this level, I think it points to her.

7 En Pointe (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is in with a shout for Rob Heathcoate. She attempted to lead throughout over this trip at Eagle Farm three weeks back, giving a good sight from the front but just felt the pinch late. Not sure she is good enough to win but can run top four.

2 Oughton (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is absolutely humming for Melissa Kelly and should take a power of beating here I think after his effort in the Keith Noud two weeks ago. He got off speed and was held up at times, not really a winning threat but gee you had to like the way he finished his race off. Getting towards peak fitness, 1350m…it all points to him.

6 Coco Jamboo (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was a total forgive three weeks ago in the Hot Danish when off speed and in a race not really run to suit, she was never really threatening, but was far from disgraced in defeat behind Arctic Glamour. Better set up here and her best is clearly good enough to be dangerous.

10 Torabella (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is dangerous with her best. Race wasn’t really run to suit in the Keith Noud but she was far from disgraced in defeat behind Epic Proportions. Anticipating a more genuine tempo this time around and she can run a much improved race.

16 Margot’s Deel (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks the obvious after her win at Eagle Farm three weeks ago. The win had a lot of merit given she was five weeks between runs, was back and held up but got nearer the inside for clear air and finished best to score. Upside/improvement to come, she takes beating.

14 Noble Conqueror (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a hard horse to catch at times but he is capable with his best. He ran two weeks ago behind Great Aspirations but the race shape was not to his liking at all and was never a factor. More genuine tempo here, he can bounce back.

1 Express Payment (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has a good racing style and should be around the mark, as seen two weeks back here. He was there to win I thought but he just couldn’t quite see it through when nabbed late. I think with a cheap run on speed, he’s dangerous for sure.

2 Caspernova (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is flying for Rob Heathcoate and is one of the hardest to beat after his win last start, knuckling down with real purpose late. Creeping up in the relative weights but hard to knock how he’s going.

9 John Rambo (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a quality animal that resumes for Tony Gollan. He is first up, having not raced since Aug 2 when fourth to Pereille. Trial work has been quite strong, watch betting.

19 Bossed Up (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is in a purple patch for Tony Gollan and commands respect. He ran over 1000m at Eagle Farm a few weeks back and ran second in the race mentioned above, having his chance but battled away well. He’ll be around the mark.

LONG SHOT: Race Eight Number 2 Oughton
