Nine races will be run and won at The Valley this Friday. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (17:45) Luxury Escapes Mdn Plate 1200m
9 Clean Reef (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a daughter of Lope De Vega that resumes for Team Hayes. She is first up, having not raced since the Winter when having a two run prep and placing each time, both runs being full of merit. Jumpout work has been quite good so watch the market and it’ll tell you if she’s ready.
3 Quick Spell (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Per Incanto gelding for Team Freedman on debut off the back of some encouraging jumpout work, placing in both and seemingly moving well enough. Outside the favourite, this is a thin race, so I think he has to be respected.
2 Hellberg (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a son of Hellbent that is first up for Ben Brisbourne. He is first up, having not raced since May 31 when resuming on the bog at Wagga and just struggled to pick his feet up late in the piece. Firmer deck here for the return and his trial work has been quite good.
Race 2. (18:15) Ladbrokes Form Genius (Bm64) 1200m
2 Omaha Dawn (Bet Now: $SP.00) for me. Team Hayes trained filly that resumes, having not raced since her debut on the Ballarat Synthetic back in May when near the speed and trucking before being clicked up and away she went to draw clear and win well. Jumped out well for the return, will press forward and be hard to hold out.
5 I Am Piki (Bet Now: $SP.00) lands on speed and takes running down. She ran over 1200m at Mornington last time when leading throughout and credit to her, she was there to be beaten but she found under pressure to fend them off and win. If she leads and gets front end control, she takes running down.
6 Legacy Bay (Bet Now: $SP.00) is dangerous with better racing manners. She got a bit keen in the run at Caulfield last time out and I think that took away something from his finale behind Jasmin Rouge. More genuine tempo, she can relax better in the run and still be effective late.
Race 3. (18:45) Hygain Tracktorque (Bm70) 2040m
2 Notabadbuy (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks the leader and if he gets front end control, he takes running down, as seen two back when winning on Bendigo Cup Day before going to Caulfield when just off the speed and battled late. Up in trip should be fine and if he gets a cheap furlong or two, he takes running down.
3 Mi Rock Aly (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a mare in form for Matty Williams and comes here off the back of a Mortlake Cup win, leading throughout under Meech and found plenty under pressure to fend them off and win. Good test here, but with that racing pattern, she’ll give herself every chance.
1 Montather (Bet Now: $SP.00) is on the seven day back up for Reece Goodwin after racing last Friday night over the mile here where he got a fair way out of his ground and while he was never threatening, he wasn’t too bad in defeat in a race dominated on speed. Up in trip I like and he’s found a winnable race.
Race 4. (19:15) Symal (Bm64) 2500m
10 Haaland (Bet Now: $SP.00) doesn’t win out of turn but this looks a winnable race for him. Totally forgiving of him last time out at Donald where he did too much work to land on speed and that early work just told on him late in the piece behind Angel Raider. Up in trip looks ideal and he gets a big jockey upgrade.
7 Catani Gardens (Bet Now: $SP.00) is progressive and heading in the right direction for Team Freedman after making his Australian debut over 2400m at Mornington where he led throughout and yes, he beat nothing, but he did it quite comfortably and the stable are thinking he can go through his grades so keen to see how he goes.
9 Bogues (Bet Now: $SP.00) will ensure this is a truly run 2500m after a 2200m win at Geelong last time out where he was on speed throughout before being clicked up by Froggy and he went, gapping his rivals to win impressively. Harder here, but with his racing style, he commands respect.
Race 5. (19:45) Drug Detection Agency (Bm64) 1200m
2 Down Low (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks to have returned in really good order for Price/Kent and should take beating here. Luckless and totally forgiving of her resumption on Geelong Cup Day before going to 1200m at Mornington where she gave them a start and a beating, and was quite impressive late in the piece.
5 Apache Song (Bet Now: $SP.00) has a tricky draw to overcome but she does have a touch of quality about her when right. I am forgiving of her first up run two weeks ago at this track/distance where she got off the speed and was held up at times, but not really getting a chance to build the revs. If she gets clear air, room to move, she can win.
4 Alice Downs (Bet Now: $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since racing over this trip at Hamilton where she got off the speed and worked home well behind Come Along Jeffrey. Gets in well after the claim and should be strong at the end.
Race 6. (20:15) Mgi Golf (Bm64) 1600m
10 Jaz Tycoon (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a straight bat play. Ben Brisbourne trained mare that ran over this track/distance two weeks ago where she got back to near last in the run and was held up at times but when clear, she found the line strongly in defeat behind Autumn Slide. Senior rider on and should be strong at the end. Hard to beat.
4 Raetihi (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes through a 1400m on Sale Cup Day, which was just under five weeks ago, when on speed and tiring late after doing work when down the track. The break between runs and the rise in trip is an interesting set up, but the stable is in form.
7 Brawl (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Paul Preusker trained gelding that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since July 27 when struggling late on heavy ground at Murtoa. First up at the mile I do like and to my eye, he has trialled well enough for the return.
Race 7. (20:45) 55 Second Challenge 955m
1 Bold Print (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks the one. He looked the winner at this track/distance two weeks ago, even watching it live it looked like he got there, but the photo went the way of Projeto in a deceptive finish. Better for the run, kind map…the one to beat.
9 Flying Ace (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a son of Flying Artie that resumes for Robbie Laing. He is first up, having not raced since Aug 21 at Sandown over 1500m when off the speed and tried hard but couldn’t quite see it through behind Callmeanicon. Not a noted fresh horse but this race has been thinned right out after scratchings.
3 Manhattan Thunder (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a John Sadler trained gelding that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since May 29 at Sale when off the speed and while he was never really threatening, he kept finding the line behind Port Albert. Stable can get them ready fresh, so watch the market.
Race 8. (21:15) Adoria Jewels (Bm78) 1200m
4 Gold Revolver (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks here to rock and roll fresh. He resumes for GaiBott, having not raced since April 17 at Canterbury when on speed and just felt the pinch late in the piece behind Curtis Island. He has jumped out well leading in and Blinkers fresh signals intent.
1 Freak Of Nature (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes here with fresh legs for Jason Warren, having not raced since Oct 16 at Caulfield over 1400m where he tried hard but just lacked the killer blow late behind Poison Chalice. Fresh legs and back to 1200m, he takes beating.
7 Deekay (Bet Now: $SP.00) will put himself on speed and take running down back in trip after racing over 1400m on Bendigo Cup Day when attempting to lead throughout and giving a strong kick from the front but couldn’t quite see it through behind Yellow Sam. Back in trip is interesting but he is a proven metro performer and this isn’t a deep race.
Race 9. (21:45) Dsv (Bm78) 1200m
1 The Open (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a quality galloper for Team Payne that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since Aug 31 over 1400m at Caulfield when near the speed and fought on really well in defeat behind a future Group l winner IMO in Craig. Like him fresh at 1200m, truly run 1200m, and he strikes a winnable race.
9 Pantalone (Bet Now: $SP.00) has a touch of class about him and despite the query being 1200m, he has a kind map. Bit on the plain side when resuming at Caulfield behind Bellinger but Blinkers off means he may relax better in the run, which gives him every chance to run out 1200m.
8 Along The River (Bet Now: $SP.00) is two weeks between runs for Team Cerchi since racing over 1100m at Caulfield when off the speed and while he was never threatening, he kept finding the line in a decent enough effort behind Bellinger. Gets in well after the claim and maps perfect.
