28/10/2023 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Doomben

5 Argyle Pink (Bet Now:  $SP.00) will jump on the bunny and prove hard to run down. This mare was too bad to be true two back on Toowoomba Cup Day before going to Eagle Farm two weeks ago where they rode her with more intent, attempting to lead throughout, and she gave a strong kick, but couldn’t quite finish it off, nailed late by stablemate Blakmax. Likes racing at Doomben and with her racing pattern, she’ll give herself every chance.

1 Bitcoin Baby (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should be suited up in trip for Chris Munce. Former Sydney mare that has had two runs for the stable, the latest coming three weeks back at Eagle Farm and while she was safely held by Pocket Full, she was far from disgraced in defeat when beaten just under four lengths by the in form Kendrick runner. Two runs on the bounce at 1200m so the rise to 1350m suits.

6 Tyresa (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a quality mare for Kelly Schweida that resumes. This girl is first up, having not raced since June 3 when big odds in the QLD Oaks and ran accordingly when down the track behind Amokura. She is a mare who has an engine under the good and 1350m fresh signals some level of intent. Likely concedes a start but she will be very strong at the end.

13 Security Advisor (Bet Now:  $SP.00) on top for me. Market kept him safe in betting when racing at Ipswich last Wednesday and while he was beaten, I thought his run had plenty of merit given I am not sure he was 100% around the tight track. He is right down in the weights after the claim and I think with a more positive ride, he’ll take beating.

3 Blackcomb (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has done a ripping job since joining Kris Lees and no reason why she can’t win again. Three weeks between runs since giving them a start and a beating to win over 1800m at Eagle Farm, letting down hard late to win and win well. The way she finished her race off there, 2000m should be fine and if she’s within range on the turn, she’ll take holding out.

7 Go Millo (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has good upside to come and should appreciate a rise to 2000m for Mark Currie. He resumed two weeks back over 1500m at Warwick where he just found them a bit sharp but didn’t mind the way he found the line late in the piece behind Tears Of Love, a proven Saturday metro performer. Good second up record and up in trip, he’s in with a shout.

2 Head Honcho (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is having start three and should know what the caper is about now. He ran at the Sunny Coast on Sunday and was very good late in the piece without threatening behind Mishani Storm in a solid effort. He’ll love the rise in trip and if he can settle closer in the run, he’ll be strong at the end and can take this out.

1 Mishani Rock (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has done little wrong in two career outings. He created an impression with a dominant win in the Pat O’Shea at Toowoomba before having a mini break up when racing at Eagle Farm a fortnight back when near the speed and presented to win the race but couldn’t quite get there when a narrow second to Mishani Suspect. Extra 110m should be fine and is hard to beat.

7 Mishani Fire (Bet Now:  $SP.00) will jump on the bunny and give a sight I am sure. She did that three weeks back over 1000m at Eagle Farm when on speed and giving a sight but couldn’t quite see it through, nabbed late by Kahlisee. Has the right racing pattern and despite the extra 110m being a slight query, the on speed style will see her run another positive race I am sure.

9 Poetic Drama (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Team Sears trained mare that is flying at the moment. Her last few runs have come at Eagle Farm, winning impressively two back before going to 1500m three weeks back where she got back to near last in the run and was quite good late without threatening behind Cottee. Think if she can settle closer in the run, she’s going well enough to take this out.

4 Rising Pacific (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is heading in the right direction for Tony Gollan. He’s had a few runs at the mile now and is seemingly enjoying it very much. The last start saw him bolt up at Eagle Farm, which was a fortnight back when just off the speed and finished off with real purpose to win and win impressively. The way he’s racing, hard to beat despite the tricky gate.

3 Micro (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has to be given another chance. I was keen on him running well two weeks back at Eagle Farm…but really, it ended up being a nightmare, a car crash…just forgive and forget the run. The first up run at Toowoomba was an absolute beauty and I think third up, hard fit, room to move, he’s only going to run well IMO.

1 Devastating (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is knocking on the door to win again. Ran two weeks ago at Eagle Farm over 1000m where he kept finding the line from off the speed and just missed out on the win behind Steady Ready. Bursting to win another race and the depth isn’t as deep this time around. Hard to beat against these I’d suggest.

6 Helluva Barty (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an O’Dea/Hoysted trained mare that resumes. She is first up, having not raced since June 3 when producing an end of prep run in the QLD Day behind all the way winner Red Card. Good fresh record and really liked the way she went in a recent Deagon trial. One to watch from a market perspective.

12 Casrock (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should appreciate a rise to 1110m. Kelly Schweida trained mare that led throughout to win at this trip two back at Ipswich before coming back to 1000m at Eagle Farm where she just found them a tad sharp but was good to the line late in the piece behind Steady Ready. Back up in trip and can settle much closer in the run. Leading contender.

14 Lubrication (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has plenty on these if he’s ready to go. This guy is first up, having not raced since the Fred Best during the Winter Carnival and while safely held, he was far from disgraced in defeat behind Hawaii Five Oh. Couple of strong trials under the belt to get ready, maps ideally, moderate Class 3…he has plenty on them.

5 Mintaka Lad (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is heading in the right direction for David Vandyke. This gelding resumed on the home deck at the Sunny Coast where the market said he was a moral and despite the winning margin not being great, he had a bit on them and was too good. Tricky draw, but should slide forward and look the winner for a long way.

6 Pentito (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Jason Edwards trained gelding that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since June 17 when placing over the mile at Ipswich, sitting near the speed and fought on strongly when second to Mississippi Prince. He is a horse who can sprint well fresh and with two trials under the belt, he’s ready to go I’d suggest.

3 Abounding (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a talented filly for Rob Heathcoate that resumes. She hasn’t raced since June 10 when placing at Eagle Farm in the Oxlade when a close up third to Namesake in a blanket finish. Looked sharp in a trial win there on Tuesday and first up 1200m tells me there is some level of intent. I think with a class factor, she’ll take beating fresh.

1 Trifling (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is first up for Helen Page and she is dangerous. She resumes, with her last run coming in the JJ Atkins when down the track and probably at the end of her prep when down the track behind King Colorado. Went like a jet in a Gold Coast trial win on Monday and although she is first up with weight, she has class.

5 Golden Decade (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks to be in for a good prep. Matty Dunn trained gelding that resumed behind Party For Two two weeks back at Eagle Farm where he just found them a bit sharp but didn’t mind the way he found the line late without threatening behind the O’Dea/Hoysted filly, who was dominant and impressive, but this guy wasn’t too bad and gets a much better set up this time around.

2 Release The Beans (Bet Now:  $SP.00) tends to run better at Doomben compared to Eagle Farm so returning to Doomben, I am quite keen on his chances. He ran over 1400m at Eagle Farm three weeks ago where he got a fair way off the speed and was held up for a few strides but got clear and found the line well enough in defeat behind Preach. Think with a more positive ride, he’ll take beating.

3 Preach (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is flying for Team Edmonds and rates highly against these. He is three weeks between runs for Team Edmonds since winning over 1400m at Eagle Farm where he led throughout and was there to be beaten but he found under pressure to fend them off and was strong to the line in winning. Has a good record at Doomben and with his racing pattern, he’ll give himself every chance.

4 Zuma California (Bet Now:  $SP.00) hasn’t quite set the world on fire in recent times but I think up in trip, he can run a cheeky race. He was kept relatively safe in betting at odds when racing over 1200m at Eagle Farm two weeks back where Jones rode him quite warm and I reckon it took something away from his finale behind Ekaterina. Has run well at this distance range previously so don’t dismiss him.

11 Eagles Crag… (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is he a thinker? Potentially. But, he is second up for the O’Dea/Hoysted camp so I think he should just about be ready re fitness. He resumed three weeks ago at Eagle Farm where he was given every chance i thought and was there to win but couldn’t quite get past Cottee but stuck on and was game. That mare won last Saturday to frank the form and with upside/improvement, surely Eagles Crag goes close.

15 Aqua Alta (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is back up in trip and despite being up a while, she commands respect. She ran at Eagle Farm a fortnight back where she was ridden warm from the wide gate and tried her guts out but couldn’t quite get there and just got the staggers late behind Dark Harmony. Has run well at Doomben previously and with a more economical run in transit, she can bounce back.

Chris Waller had several runners nominated for this race but goes with the sole rep in 2 Rousseau (Bet Now:  $SP.00). He resumed in the Dark Harmony race mentioned above from two weeks back and I thought he was a real eye catcher from off the speed when third. He’ll take good improvement from that and with a more positive ride, he’ll take beating.

16 Midnight In Tokyo (Bet Now:  $SP.00), you’d think, has panels on these if she’s ready to go. She resumes for Annabel Neasham, having not raced since the Gold Coast Guineas at the Sunny Coast when far from disgraced in defeat behind Yellow Brick, beaten four lengths. Resumes without a trial but if even if she’s half fit, her form lines just read far too strong for this lot.

13 Outlawed (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Rob Heathcoate trained mare that is flying this time in and has really turned the corner since joining Heathcoate. Ran over 1200m three weeks ago at Eagle Farm and was one of the real eye catchers of the meeting, just missing out on the win when a narrow second to Pocket Full. Has run well and won at Doomben previously and really, she only has to hold her form to be taking this out.

14 Compassionate (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes here with fresh legs for Barry Lockwood, five weeks between runs since a dominant win on Toowoomba Cup Day when sitting on speed, a fast speed, and was there to be beaten, but she found under pressure to fend them off. The break between runs was needed I think after that gutbuster and off prior runs, gee she looks well placed against these.
