Ten races have been set down for Doomben this Wednesday. Weather is fine, track is soft (6) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (13:08) Widden Hcp 1200m
5 Don’tdoubtthelady (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a visitor from Rocky for Clinton Taylor but she does look very sharp. She debuted at Rocky where she looked a moral on paper and duly saluted, winning quite comfortably. This race, as a whole, doesn’t look strong, and she can put her hands up for the Magic Millions with a forward showing.
6 La Bella Boom (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes here second up after a debut third over 1050m here. She got off the speed and was raw and new to the caper but kept finding the line and was quite good in defeat behind Betterlucknexttime. Like her up to 1200m and the depth has been thinned out after scratchings.
2 Mr Democrat (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Better Than Ready gelding for Jack Bruce that is on debut. He’s had two trials in readiness for start one, the latest trial coming last week at Deagon on Oct 29 when winning over 1050m and ran decent enough time. Good grounding for this, watch the market.
Race 2. (13:43) Des Lambart Memorial (Rs1mw) 1600m
9 Torabella (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has bounced back and she can go on with it. Lang rode her a treat two weeks ago here, getting the sweet sit in behind before angling clear and she knuckled down with purpose late to wear down Metalart, with the pull in the weights also being a contributing factor too. But, her confidence is up and she can go on with it.
8 Ready Azz Eva (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should be around the mark for Rob Heathcoate. He ran over this track/distance two weeks back where he got into a decent spot in transit and loomed to win but just couldn’t quite see it through behind Felix The Scat. Racing well, good racing style, commands respect.
1 Rainbow Connection (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is capable with his best. He has been a bit on the plain side this prep, his latest run coming in the Barn Dance at Randwick when outclassed, finishing down the track behind Gallant Star. Better suited here, I am not dismissing him.
Race 3. (14:18) Road To Magic Millions Book Now (Bm70) 1600m
17 Ludovisi (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is the way I am leaning. Tony Gollan trained gelding that ran over 1500m at Eagle Farm last time out when off the speed and while he conceded somewhat of a start but he kept finding the line but was solid enough in defeat. Won’t mind wet ground and the depth isn’t overly deep.
2 Kadall (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is knocking on the door. Neasham/Archibald trained gelding that is racing well but he just can’t quite crack it for a win. He got off speed at this track/distance last time and worked home well enough in defeat I thought behind Felix The Scat. Finding it hard to win but is thereabouts and should be around the mark.
16 Poseidon Ruler (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is three weeks between runs for Team Munce since racing over the mile at Eagle Farm where he got a positive ride, landing on speed, and he tried hard, but just couldn’t quite see it through when a close up fourth to Aerial Dancer, who won again last Saturday to frank the form. Think with a more patient steer, he’ll be more effective and can win.
Race 4. (14:53) Sky Racing (Bm78) 2200m
8 Aldeenaary (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is knocking on the door for Chris Waller. He looked the winner when presented here a fortnight back but just found one better, not having the finale of Old Song. Racing well, ready to win IMO and commands respect against these.
3 Up And Under (Bet Now:Β
$SP.00) will either thrive in Brisbane under Waller or he’ll be heading further north and racing on the dirt. He has promised to be a good horse for some time but just hasn’t been able to put it together. Now in Brisbane, he finds a very winnable race.
Long Shot: 4 Applications has found positive form and he can maintain it after
4 Applications (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has found positive form and he can maintain it after contesting the Old Song race from two weeks ago where he dashed to the front on the turn and looked home, but was nabbed late. He has that run under the belt now and I think with a more patient steer, he’ll be more effective.
Race 5. (15:28) Empire Of Japan Plate (C2) 1200m
9 Taltarni Fields (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is the straight bat play. Kelly Schweida trained gelding that has been kept on ice since Oct 26 when a dominant track/distance winner against a line up which did have depth to it. Tick over trial was sharp and he maps perfect.
2 Boom Shot (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a leading threat. He ran over this track/distance on Oct 30, getting a fair way back in the run but worked home strongly late when a close up fourth. If he can get a drag into the race and be within range, he’ll take holding out.
7 Runwiththetide (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has found winning form and he can go on with it. That win came at Eagle Farm on Cup Day where he found a moderate Class 1 and was too strong after sitting on speed, He has room for improvement, he’s in winning form and strikes a winnable race.
Race 6. (16:03) Xxxx (Bm78) 1110m
4 Arisphere (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is humming for Tony Gollan and has earned a crack at Saturday metro level. She has won three on the bounce, the latest coming on Cup Day at Eagle Farm where she landed on speed and was too sharp. Good test here, but confident she measures up.
1 Skirt The Law (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a fascinating runner. If she was ready to go and at her best, she’d be resuming in the Tatts Classic and not here, so why is she here? Is it for a kill, or is she gone and they are just hoping to get a win? No idea. The market will be the guide, but she loves Doomben and she has lengths on these are class.
8 Femme Fatale (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Kelly Schweida trained mare that resumes. She is first up, having not raced since September 20 at Eagle Farm where she got caught wide and just couldn’t quite get involved when down the track behind Super Daisy. Resumes without a public trial but she goes well fresh and finds a winnable race.
Race 7. (16:38) Recognition Stakes 1350m
7 Navyonthehighway (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has to be rated as one of the hardest to beat after contesting the Hot Danish at Rosehill where she was near the speed and though held late, she more than held her own in defeat behind Belclare. If there is petrol left in the tank, which you’d assume there is, she’s hard to get past.
5 Midnight In Tokyo (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks to have returned in really good order and should take beating against these after resuming two weeks ago in the Keith Noud when back and closed off with purpose late in the piece when second to the in form Bubba’s Bay. More upside to come with her and if she can settle closer, she takes beating.
1 Ucalledit (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since racing over 1400m at Eagle Farm when off the speed and kept chasing in a pretty good effort behind the in form Flying Trapeze. He does love the Doomben 1350m and I think he’s racing in solid enough form to say he can win this.
Race 8. (17:13) Eureka Stud Tattersall's Classic 1200m
2 Bubba’s Bay (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is humming for Kris Lees and rates highly. She has become a winning machine, taking out the Keith Noud a fortnight back when given a peach by Mallyon and in a driving finish, she was too good. Creeping up in the relative weights but hard to knock how well she’s going.
5 Party For Two (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is one of the key threats. She resumes for Matty Hoysted, having not raced since July 13 at Caulfield when placing in the Monash behind the then flying Recommendation. Bomb fresh horse and has trialled up enormous, so watch the market.
4 Miss Hellfire (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is an improver at odds for Neasham/Archibald. Outclassed in the Hot Danish at Rosehill but I will say she was back off a hot speed and a leader dominated affair, so forgive and forget. Better set up here, she can bounce back.
Race 9. (17:48) Select Fire Systems (Bm78) 1110m
13 Busting (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks to have returned really well and should take beating here after resuming two weeks ago at this track/distance when back off the speed and kept finding the line in a really good return behind The Astronomer. If there is no second up syndrome, he’s the one they have to beat.
12 Bossed Up (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a nice horse for Tony Gollan and I think has returned really well. He resumed over this trip at Toowoomba several weeks ago where he got back in the run but came with a well timed finale and surged late, just missing out on the win when a narrow third to stablemate Instagood. On the bigger track and firmer footing, he takes beating.
8 Troika (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is dangerous with his best. He ran behind The Astronomer a fortnight back here, getting into an okay spot near the speed and tried to win but just couldn’t quite see it through when fifth. Impressive win the start prior at Eagle Farm, he’s one of the leading contenders.
Race 10. (18:24) Ladbrokes Punter Assist (Bm78) 1350m
11 Oceans Of Energy (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks the one. Matty Dunn trained mare that resumed two weeks ago at Doomben over 1200m when she was off the speed throughout and tried hard but Hell led throughout, produced sustained speed and was too good. Good improvement to come and up in trip, she rates highly.
13 Tavs (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a key chance here for Mark Currie. First run for the stable came over 1350m here a few weeks ago where he got a fair way out of his ground and while he was never threatening, he did make up headway and was quite good in defeat. Fitter, he’s hard to beat for mine.
5 Brentwood (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) hasn’t quite fired this time in but his best is more than capable of giving this a shake. They rode with intent behind Torabella two weeks back. He tried hard but just couldn’t quite see it through, feeling the pinch late in the piece. Think with his best, he can threaten.
