Eight races have been set down for Sandown on Wednesday. Weather is fine, track is good (4) and the rail is out three metres for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (15:40) Sportsbet Jockey Watch Mdn Plate 1600m
8 Belle Detelle (Bet Now: $SP.00) is short enough but she does look to have a bit on this lot. Chris Waller trained filly that has done a really good job in three career outings…just hasn’t won. Latest run was over 1500m at Caulfield Heath last time when off speed and chased with purpose in a good effort in defeat behind Gellhorn. Like her up in trip and maps perfect. Clearly the one to beat.
9 Sweltering (Bet Now: $SP.00) is dangerous with better racing manners. She got a bit keen in the run at Pakenham last time, giving a strong kick but just couldn’t quite get there when nabbed late by California Blues. Blinkers off to try and get her to relax and gets the perfect rider to try and get her to relax with J Melham on.
5 Kiss My Rock (Bet Now: $SP.00) is dangerous at odds. First run for the stable came over the mile at Colac where he got a fair way out of his ground but I really liked the way he closed off in defeat when third in a blanket finish. He has talent…enough to win this? I say no, but a must for exotics.
Race 2. (16:15) Evergreen Turf (Bm64) 1500m
2 Railway Man (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a horse who I think has good talent but clearly wants dry ground, which he’ll get here. Latest start was a maiden win over 1400m at Warwick Farm, getting a 12/10 ride by Collett to finish best and win well. Maps perfect once again and confident he’ll be strong at the end.
1 Zorro’s Flight (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a talented three year old for Team Payne. He has been kept on ice, having not raced since Jan 18 at Flemington when leading and giving a very strong kick but was nabbed on the peg by Garnacho. Trial/jumpout work has been strong since and gets in really well after the claim.
3 Bancory Man (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes back to 1500m after racing over 1800m here last time out when off speed and was never really a winning threat but did make up ground and was a definite pass mark in defeat behind Entrusting. Maps to get run of the race and be around the mark.
Race 3. (16:50) Tobin Brothers Celebrating Lives Mdn Plate 1300m
12 Bossy Benita (Bet Now: $SP.00) on top in what looks a tricky contest. This filly has placed in both runs this time in, the latest run coming over 1200m at Pakenham when off speed and worked to the line well enough in defeat when third to Illuminance. Gets Craig Williams on and if she can use the inside gate to advantage, she takes beating.
13 Comanche Miss (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a good filly for Phillip Stokes that resumes, I dare say with eyes towards the Oaks in SA potentially. She hasn’t raced since Oct 16 at Caulfield over the mile when placing behind a star, Treasurethe Moment. Jumpout work has been pretty good and although 1300m is short of her best, she has class on her side.
8 Sources Link (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes back to 1300m after recent runs at 1400m, the latest at Pakenham when near the speed and tried hard but just couldn’t quite run out the seven furlongs strongly enough. Maps to get a soft run in transit, he can run top four.
Race 4. (17:25) Sportsbet Feed (Bm64) 1300m
9 Summer Flame (Bet Now: $SP.00) for me. Chris Waller trained filly that has been pretty good in two career outings, debuting with an electric win at Mornington before going here when leading and giving a decent kick but had no answers late for Heaving. If she gets front end control, she’ll be hard to get past.
5 Kalkallo (Bet Now: $SP.00) should appreciate a rise to 1300m after resuming over 1200m here. He got off speed and was chasing from a fair way out but kept finding the line and was pretty good in defeat I thought behind Heaving. Fitter, up in trip, kind map, he’ll be hard to beat.
4 Il Cubo (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Price/Kent trained gelding that is third up from a spell and should be at peak fitness. Latest run was over 1300m at Bendigo when off speed and kept chasing with purpose in a good effort in defeat behind Border Jack. Hard fit, in after the claim, he’s a threat.
Race 5. (18:00) Ive > (Bm64) 1800m
2 Blushing Tycoon (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks to have the right form around him to give this a shake I’d suggest. His most recent run came here om Feb 1 when outclassed but far from disgraced in defeat behind a potential Stakes class horse, Revelare. No horse of that quality here. Gets the claim, will roll forward and take beating.
3 Eclipsion (Bet Now: $SP.00) should be around the mark for Greg Eurell. He is three weeks between runs since racing over the mile here. He landed near the speed and tried hard but just lacked the polish to finish the job when fourth to Enxuto. 1800m is a query but with a cheap run on speed, he should be fine.
8 Muppet (Bet Now: $SP.00) has come back in really good order for Archie Alexander and is one of the key contenders. She won her opening two runs for the prep before going to 1700m at Geelong when wide no cover throughout but kept finding the line and was courageous in defeat. If that hasn’t busted her, she takes beating.
Race 6. (18:30) Sportsbet Fast Form (Bm74) 2400m
8 Cotton Tree (Bet Now: $SP.00) is hot and cold but with his best, I do think he has a bit on these. The cold was two back at Flemington when quite plain late behind Inevitable Award. The hot was last time out at Pakenham where he gave them a start, a beating, and was quite arrogant/dominant in the run to the line. That was 2000m and off that, 2400m is fine and IMO is clearly the one to beat.
7 Genrichero (Bet Now: $SP.00) has to be given respect off the back of a placing over 2500m at The Valley. He got into a decent spot near the speed and presented to win but just couldn’t quite finish the job when beaten narrowly by Tsitsipas. That reads well for this I would have thought.
11 Speak (Bet Now: $SP.00) is the one with upside, C Maher polish, and will have no issue with 2400m. She ran over 2000m at Caulfield last time where she got a fair way out of her ground but you had to like the way she finished her race off in defeat behind Emphasize. That is a couple of runs at 2000m now so the rise to 2400m is ideal. Leading contender.
Race 7. (19:00) Tile Importer (Bm74) 1400m
5 Matawai (Bet Now: $SP.00) has returned well and takes beating after a fresh win over this trip at Pakenham, giving them a start and a beating, letting down with purpose late to win and win well. Upside/improvement to come and has a kind map to use.
6 Paradise City (Bet Now: $SP.00) has found winning form and she can certainly go on with it for Moody/Coleman, with that win coming at Seymour where she led throughout under B Shinn and gave nothing else a look in to win and win well. Front end control, she takes running down.
4 Subrising (Bet Now: $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. Just looked in need of the run fresh at Flemington before going to 1200m here when back and while she was never a winning factor, I really liked the way she closed off late in the piece. Hard fit now and up to 1400m, she can take this out.
Race 8. (19:30) Sportsbet Same Race Multi (Bm74) 1400m
4 Carbonados (Bet Now: $SP.00) on top in the get out. Team Hayes trained gelding that ran over 1100m at Caulfield Heath last time out where he got too far out of his ground and was never really a factor behind Chinqui. He was back in trip there so back up in trip, he has the quality to take this out.
6 Eugenius (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a key chance. He is a tick under two weeks between runs since racing over 1400m at Flemington when on speed and fought hard but just felt the pinch late behind Is It Me. Good racing style and the depth here is nowhere near as deep.
7 The Shaper (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Team Freedman trained gelding that resumes. He is first up, having not raced since Nov 16 at Caulfield when back and was just fair late in the piece behind Regal Vow. He can sprint well fresh and his jumpout work has been encouraging.
