Race 1. (13:35) Ole Kirk @ Vinery Stud Mdn Hcp 1400m
I do think 3 West Head (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a big price here. Heavily backed favourite at Wyong last time but I just think he got lost around the tight track, getting the wobbles and couldn’t pick up quick enough when third, beaten a half length. Hard fit now, bigger track and the rise to 1400m from the good draw, he takes beating.
7 Endure (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is the key chance and one of the hardest to beat. She debuted over 1300m at Newcastle where she got off speed and was held up at times before finding clear air and she rocketed to the line late in the piece when second. Better set up here and if the gate can be used to advantage, she will be hard to hold out.
6 The Comanche (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should appreciate a rise to 1400m after debuting over 1200m at Geelong where he was raw and new to the caper and never really a factor when down the track behind Stormy Grove. He had jumped out well enough prior to that effort so I think at odds, he can be included in exotics.
Race 2. (14:10) Inglis Xtra Bonus Mdn Plate 1200m
6 Crepe Myrtle (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a blueblood and I think she can get the maiden win on the board. She was good on debut at Canterbury before going to the Kenso where she tried hard from just off the speed but found one better in Alinea. Hard fit now and I think with a positive ride, she is going to take beating.
8 Queen’s Rhapsody (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has been runner up in all three career outings and is one of the leading contenders. But, do I want to take even money? That said, she brings the A1 form, with last start seeing her run second to a potential Stakes class animal, Gerringong. Both runs have come at 1100m this prep…1200m is the query but hard to knock her.
2 Majorca Sunset (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should be better for the first up run, which came over 1100m at Nowra when just off the speed and battled away well enough in defeat when fourth in very fast time. Fitter and up to 1200m, he’s an improver at odds.
Race 3. (14:45) Precise Air Mdn Plate 1600m
16 Holy Hell (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is worth an each way ticket here in what looks an open maiden. She debuted over 1400m at Nowra when off the speed and held up at times but she got clear air and finished off quite strongly in defeat when a narrow second. Better set up here and right down in the weights, happy to speck her.
1 Altair I Am (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is racing like 1600m suits. He ran in a 1400m maiden at Kembla last time when off the speed and held up, but did get out in time to let down and win, but was no match for Oh Diamond Lil. 1600m should be ideal and strikes a winnable race.
3 Ant (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) can be an improver at odds. He ran three weeks back on the Kenso where he got a fair way back and while he was never a winning threat, he found the line well enough in defeat. Extra ground should be ideal and I reckon could improve with a more positive steer.
Race 4. (15:20) Buy An Arrowfield Yearling (Bm72) 1300m
I think the market flips come jump time and 2 Drift Net (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) starts favourite. Yes, she has half turned it up her past two, but I will say it hasn’t been helped by the fact she has found wet ground, which has taken away her finale. I do think on firmer footing this time around she will be much more dynamic.
8 Tulleries (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes here off the back of an arrogant first up win at Canterbury where she had the suck run in transit before angling into clear air and she put pay to them late in the piece to win by a space and was impressive in the run to the line. Harder here, but maps ideally, and has good upside/progression. She can win, clearly…but for me, she’s too short.
4 Imposant (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Kris Lees trained mare that resumes. She is first up, having not raced since Aug 14 on the Kenso when back and closed strongly, just missing out on the win when second to Equipage. She has trialled up well for the return and should be strong late.
Race 5. (16:00) Tab (Bm64) 1000m
6 Vanessi (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a filly heading in the right direction for Chris Waller. She has raced at Canterbury in both runs this time in, placing fresh over 1200m before coming back to 1100m when ridden with a sit under Nash before being asked for the effort and she got better as the race went on to win and win well. Confident she measures up.
1 Zouripper (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a John Thompson trained gelding that resumes. He is first up, having not raced since Aug 15 at Newcastle when struggling on heavy ground and failed to fire behind a handy one, Lease. He looks prepped right up with two strong trials and finds a winnable race.
2 Octavian Express (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) resumes for Todd Howlett and I say is dangerous here. She ended last prep on a high with a couple of strong wins, albeit in weak races at Kempsey and Taree respectively, but she does have ticker and first up in town suggests intent.
Race 6. (16:40) Darley (Bm78) 1000m
6 Storm The Ramparts (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) to resume a winner for Joe Pride. He is first up, having not raced since April 26 on the Kenso when just off the speed and he tried his guts out but found one better in the Stakes performed Jedibeel. Given a good break and his two trials to get ready has been quite encouraging.
1 Frilled (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has class on her side and that is going to carry her a long way towards victory. She comes back to 78 grade after racing in The Warra on Gong Day, a Group lll, and she was outclassed but far from disgraced in defeat behind Headwall. Has run well at the track/distance previously and back to this level, she appeals big time.
5 Chief Conductor (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Sara Ryan trained gelding that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since August 28 at Canterbury where he was wide no cover in transit and that hard run just told late in the piece when down the track behind Hi Dubai. He is a horse who can sprint well fresh and has trialled nicely. Watch the market.
Race 7. (17:20) Summer Cup 2000m
11 Townsend (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) can bounce back here. He was a dominant winner at Newcastle two back on Hunter Day before going to Rosehill and the ATC Cup where he was tardy away and that sealed his fate, but he found the line strongly in defeat when third to Floating. Tick over trial was good, Rachel is back on and if he lands near the front, I think it could be a case of good luck beating him.
6 Converge…(Bet Now:Β $SP.00) there is a pulse! I didn’t think there was one but he found life in the ATC Cup, trying hard and chasing with purpose but couldn’t get past Floating. Tick over trial last Monday at Hawkesbury was quite good and maps to do no work.
13 Gentileschi (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is dangerous with her best. She ran over 1800m three weeks ago at Rosehill and did a reasonable job in defeat. She got held up at times and not sure she is a mare who likes that set up. I think she is much better with room to move and time to wind up. If that can eventuate here, she can run a race at odds.
Race 8. (18:00) James Squire (Bm72) 1300m
7 The Replicant (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) will do me in the get out. Joe Pride trained gelding that resumed on the Kenso over 1250m when off the speed and chased strongly in defeat, producing good late splits in a strong return when third to Spirit Of Varanasi. He does tend to save his best for the home track, Warwick Farm, but off that return, I say he’s worth an each way ticket.
5 Winston Hills…(Bet Now:Β $SP.00) how good is he? Not sure he beat much at Canterbury last time, but the way he gave them a start and a beating, his change up speed to put them away with relative ease…it was the win of a pretty good horse. Good test here against likely types but confident he can measure up.
4 Noble Conqueror (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a son of Churchill that resumes for Chris Waller. He is first up, having not raced since August 28 at Canterbury when near the speed over 1550m and tried hard but couldn’t quite get there when third to High Dandy. Two solid trials under the belt, the latest over 1200m, so the grounding is there. Watch the market.
