Queensland metro racing this Saturday heads to the Sunshine Coast for a nine race program. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out four metres for the entire circuit.

WATCH LIVE RACING AT

Race 1. (12:44) XXXX Take In The Gold Handicap (70) 1000m

Back Me

Quite keen here on 13 Navy (Bet Now: $3.50). Steve O’Dea trains this gelding who has had two career starts. Debuted with a narrow second at Grafton before being spelled. Trialled well prior to resuming at this track/distance where he was up on speed and once clicked up, he powered away and won well. Significant step up here, but I like him alot.

Danger

9 Dream Kisses (Bet Now: $7.50) is an interesting runner. Formerly with Steve O’Dea but is now with the Tony Gollan camp. Her best form would probably nearly see her win this and her Doomben trial placing recently looked quite good. Interesting where she gets to because she can spot them a start on occasion.

Long Shot

8 Alaskan Wolf (Bet Now: $27.00) will likely spot them a start but I think she’s much better placed here than what she was when resuming over 900m at the Gold Coast Saturday. The brutal speed of those races probably was against her fresh and she couldn’t get comfortable at all when down the track behind Darktown Strutter. Bigger track and fitter, she can run better.

Race 2. (13:20) Happy Birthday Sally Plate (Class 3) 1200m

Back Me

12 Linlithglow (Bet Now: $3.70) is a speed demon for Toby Edmonds who should take some beating. 2/2 this time in, resuming over 900m at the Gold Coast before racing over 1110m at Doomben three weeks back and Jeff Lloyd sent her straight to the front and she proved far too good for them. Just has to tick the 1200m box.

Danger

10 Umberto (Bet Now: $16.00) is another that should be watched closely. Son of Not A Single Doubt that resumes for the Tony Gollan team. He contested some pretty good races during the Autumn and ran well without winning but in saying that, he didn’t have much luck on several occasions. Trialled like a bomb recently at Deagon and is a noted fresh performer.

Long Shot

5 All Eez (Bet Now: $23.00) is a fascinating runner. Formerly with Tony McEvoy but made his North Queensland debut for the John Wigginton at Rockhampton where he was a hard fav and his class came to the fore late in a dominant resumption. Freshened up and to my eye looked sharp in a Yeppoon trial win.

Race 3. (14:02) The Beach Houses Holiday Apartments Cotton Tree Handicap 1200m

Back Me

How good is 4 Full Nelson (Bet Now: $10.00)? That is the question. He is bred to get 2000m+, but the way he won on debut over 1050m at the midweeks at Doomben was just outstanding. Thought he beat up a decent field and what I loved is that the final 50m, he had the ears pricked. He’ll eat up the 1200m, bigger track…very likeable.

Danger

8 Hold The Line (Bet Now: $2.60) is a David Vandyke trained filly who was hard in the market when debuting over 1200m at Ipswich where she was confidently backed and under Jeff Lloyd, she just proved too good, beating Belle Roc, who won here on Sunday, so the form reads well. Trial last week here was very good.

Long Shot

14 Too Hot To Hold (Bet Now: $15.00) looks a nice filly for Steve O’Dea who should be strong late. Ran over this track/distance last time and she arguably should have won but wanted to lay in and didn’t run straight at all over the concluding stages. If she puts everything together and does it right, she should take beating.

Race 4. (14:37) Cricks Sunshine Coast Handicap (90) 2200m

Back Me

8 Exoteric (Bet Now: $6.00) is a Chris Waller trained stayer who had been performing quite well in Brisbane before racing over 2400m at Randwick three weeks ago where he battled away quite well in defeat though well held by both Red Alto and Vaucluse Bay. He’s getting hard fit now and back to this level, he should take some beating.

Danger

6 Outraged (Bet Now: $6.50) comes through the Ingeegoodbe race at Doomben two weeks back and his effort was pretty good I thought. Got back to last on a day where making significant ground was near impossible but his effort was more than sound. Very good record at the Sunny Coast and up to 2200m will be ideal.

Long Shot

11 I’m Belucci (Bet Now: $8.50) should just about be ready to produce his best. He ran over the 2000m at Doomben a fortnight ago where he was given a lovely steer and once he got the inside split, he looked the winner but just ran out of puff late when third to Ingeegoodbe. Has upside for mine and is a definite threat.

Race 5. (15:17) Angove Wines Handicap 1000m

Back Me

1 Guard Of Honour (Bet Now: $2.05) does look the winner. Kris Lees trains this quality sprinter, who is first up here. He hasn’t raced since May 5 over 900m at the Gold Coast in the Bat Out Of Hell where his class came to the fore and proved too good. Bomb when produced fresh and trialled very well to my eye at Gosford.

Danger

If they go silly in front, look for 2 Raido (Bet Now: $17.00) to savage the line. He hasn’t raced since the Weetwood at Toowoomba where he just never got into the hunt and finished down the track behind Amanaat. Another that’s good on the fresh side and trialled well at Doomben a few weeks back. He’ll get back and launch.

Long Shot

3 Tisani Tomso (Bet Now: $19.00) is another that will love a brutal speed. He hasn’t raced since the Winter Carnival when finishing midfield behind Tyzone after doing work from a wide draw. Sprints well fresh, he’ll be strong and does have a good overall record at the track. He is certainly one to include in exotics.

Race 6. (15:57) Maroochy Surf Club Handicap 1400m

Back Me

2 Sabkhat (Bet Now: $4.40) is three weeks between runs for the O’Dea camp and this horse is flying. Brilliant sustained speed got him the win four weeks back over 1350m at Doomben before backing up a week later over the mile and fending off a determined challenge from Lordag to get the job done. Back to 1400m no issue, should lead and prove hard to run down.

Danger

1 Divine Unicorn (Bet Now: $4.40) is a very interesting runner. Lightly raced galloper for Matty Dunn who is slowly starting to show how good he can be. Given an immediate spell after winning the Tatts Cup during the Brisbane Winter Carnival when overhauling the then in form Tradesman. Trialled up well at the Gold Coast and has a good fresh record.

Long Shot

7 Zumbelina (Bet Now: $9.50) should be given another chance. I thought the tactics to ride her on speed first up a fortnight back was clearly the wrong move. Never been on speed in her life at this level and rightfully dropped out to finish down the track. She’ll be much better with cover and up to 1400m a big tick.

Race 7. (16:37) Konami Gaming Handicap (85) 1200m

Back Me

12 Shesees Everything (Bet Now: $2.80) looks the one to beat. Tony Gollan trains this mare, who is in ripping form at the moment. Loved the way she closed off to win at Doomben last time, spotting stablemate My Girl Hayley a start but once she got clear air and knuckled down, she finished off with purpose to get the win. Confident she can repeat the dose.

Danger

9 Mishani Sleuth (Bet Now: $6.00) is on the quick back up for Shane Edmonds after bolting up over 1200m last Saturday at the Gold Coast, admittedly in a much weaker race than this, but lumped 58kg and won with absolute ease. Gets really good weight relief and must have pleased the stable to back up a week later.

Long Shot

11 Trois Choix (Bet Now: $15.00) is a David Vandyke trained mare who is first up. Her best form does come over slightly further, but she can sprint well fresh, Lloyd is on and to my eye, she looked to trial very well here recently, winning the trial under Lloyd. Think she’ll improve off whatever she does here, but is a big watch.

Race 8. (17:12) Property Real Estate Plate (Class 6) 1600m

Back Me

5 Pressway (Bet Now: $3.20) looks a great bet. Steve O’Dea trains this gelding, who has been outstanding this time in, especially at his past few outings. The last run came over 1350m at Doomben where he got back against the bias and in the end that probably beat him when beaten a lip by the leader Courtza King. Up to the mile and on his preferred track, should take beating.

Danger

6 Prioritise…(Bet Now: $5.50) gee he’s a hard horse to catch but we know that if he brought his best, he’d just about be winning. No luck two back at Randwick behind Intuition before backing up a week later at Rosehill where he worked to the line quite well late in the piece when fourth to Paret. That form reads well for this.

Long Shot

2 Victory Eight (Bet Now: $10.00) confirmed the theory that he only performs well at the Sunny Coast last start at Doomben with a very poor run behind Glitra. Admittedly he was back last in a slowly run race, but he didn’t do much. Saves his best for here and with the claim for Gallagher, he can bounce back.

Race 9. (17:52) Yalumba Wines Handicap (75) 1400m

Back Me

21 Makes You Think (Bet Now: $3.80) is a So You Think gelding for Steve O’Dea that is two weeks between runs after racing over the 1350m at Doomben where the bias towards those on speed was really against him but he did a pretty good job to run a narrow third to Courtza King. Up to 1400m on the bigger track, hard fit, no excuses now for mine.

Danger

19 All In The Reflexs…(Bet Now: $7.00) if you were on last start, you’ve barely recovered from the defeat, which came at this track/distance a couple of Sundays back. Hammersley gave the mare every chance and once she hit the front, she looked home but was nabbed on the line by Whodunnit. Third up, she too should be ready.

Long Shot

8 Show Bender (Bet Now: $14.00) is a former SA mare who seems to be loving life in Queensland for the Chris Anderson team. Ran over 1350m at Doomben last Wednesday where she had a very decent run near the speed and despite being under pressure on the turn, she kept finding and finished best to score. Up to 1400m on the bigger track looks an ideal recipe.
