25/4/2021 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Randwick, Anzac Day races

The Kensington track at Randwick will host Anzac Day Racing this Sunday. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

A few of these can’t really be trusted, whereas I think 5 Legend Has It (Bet Now: $3.40) can be. Progressive stayer for Les Bridge that knuckled down strongly to win over 2300m at Newcastle last time, charging to the front early on in the straight and holding a safe margin. I think he can measure up to this lot.

6 Alakahan (Bet Now: $2.60) doesn’t have the best of winning strike rates but is honest and should be thereabouts. That was the case a few weeks ago at Warwick Farm where he was safely held into second behind Heart Of Puissance but did spank the rest. That form reads well for a race like this.

7 Django Dream (Bet Now: $13.00) is a three year old taking on the older horses, but overall, this race is thin so he doesn’t need to be a world beater to be competitive here. He knuckled down best to win over 2000m at Queanbeyan last time out and is racing like a horse that will appreciate more ground.

D-Day for 2 Fashchanel (Bet Now: $3.30). John O’Shea trained mare who has let the punters down badly this time in, but I think she is a mare who is best suited on top of the ground, so I’d be forgiving of a couple of her failures this time in. She gets a firm deck this time around, perfect sit from the gate and her best sees her win.

If Fashchanel is off her game again, then 4 Betty Blooms (Bet Now: $3.80) is the one to beat. Trialled up well leading into her resumption at Newcastle where the market didn’t want a bar of her late. Nobody told the mare that as she had a suck run behind the speed and finished best. Got more upside than most and stable is flying.

I’m not dropping off 3 Macushla (Bet Now: $21.00). Not much went her way fresh at Hawkesbury but at the same time, I thought she was entitled to do more. She has shown glimpses of being Saturday class, so second up and doing no work from the draw, I’m keen to see how she goes in what is a winnable race with her best.

I think Chris Waller wins this race. Just a matter of finding the right one. I think J Mac riding and sticking with 5 Green Flash (Bet Now: $2.90) is enough for me to be in his corner. He does look a potential Queensland Derby contender. Impressive debut win over 1200m at Newcastle. Remained at that trip at Canterbury with a five week freshen up. Didn’t quicken but kept surging and in another few strides, wins the race. Fitter and up to 1550m, like him here.

9 Grace And Harmony (Bet Now: $4.50) does look the other key winning hope. Resumed over 1400m at Newcastle where she was a good thing on paper. Early on in the straight it looked like it would be a nightmare but she found the split and drove through hard, proving to be quite strong late. She might be an Oaks filly for Queensland so keen to see how she goes.

3 Statesville (Bet Now: $13.00) is a former Queenslander that had his first run for James Ponsonby on Gundagai Cup Day and I thought he was pretty good in breaking the maiden tag, sitting on speed and fighting them off when required to get the job done. Harder here, but he can sneak a first four spot.

Good little race with a host of winning chances. 4 Rubamos (Bet Now: $2.90) looks the most progressive of this lot. Resumed over 1300m at Warwick Farm where he landed on speed and looked to be going quite easily before McEvoy clicked him up and he showed good change up speed to win quite impressively I thought. Suck run behind a genuine tempo here and will be strong late.

2 Yardstick (Bet Now: $6.00) brings the Stakes form with him. He ran last Saturday in the South Pacific when on speed and did try hard. Just lacked the class to go with Ellsberg, who looks a potential star, so that form has to read well for a midweek 68, and he’ll press forward, giving himself every chance.

The best version of 5 Perfect Radiance (Bet Now: $8.50) is certainly capable. Kept safe in betting at odds when resuming in the P J Bell. Sat midfield in the run and couldn’t come on in a plain effort. Tongue Tie going on suggests something might have happened in run. On her earlier form, she’s right in this.

Is 5 Mr Dependable (Bet Now: $5.00) back on track? Jury was out after a plain run fresh in the Muswellbrook Cup, but he bounced back to somewhere near his best with an all the way triumph at Canterbury and he was dominant in the run to the line. Should lead these for fun and up to 1800m is ideal.

11 Pesto (Bet Now: $3.80) is a progressive animal for Team Hawkes that is a key winning chance. Made his Australian debut three weeks ago over 1400m at Caulfield and I loved the way he kept finding the line late, closing off with purpose when second to Blinder. Admittedly the race didn’t rate through the roof, but he’s got upside and up in trip, he appeals.

1 He Runs Away (Bet Now: $27.00) is a Chris Waller trained stayer that resumes. Hasn’t raced since the Christmas Cup on the course proper here when a game second to Significance in a great struggle to the line. Better suited over further, normally needs a run or two, but has a touch of quality.

8 Count De Rupee (Bet Now: $3.10) has got talent. Not sure what the Price camp have in mind for him because I thought he would be a force in the Provincial Championships. Are they thinking blacktype? I think he has the progression to indeed be that and his recent trial win at Kembla suggests he’s ready to go.

3 Smart Image (Bet Now: $6.50) is a talented animal for Team Snowden that resumes. Had a three run Summer prep, with the highlight coming fresh when winning at Canterbury. Interesting he returns to racing as a gelding and has trialled well leading. If he brings his best, I think he goes close.

10 Miss Einstein (Bet Now: $7.00) has Saturday class ability but sometimes her desire is questionable, so I’m keen to see how she goes here fresh against a couple of likely types. Teased to win races last prep but didn’t quite go on with it. She is capable fresh, so I’d watch the market with her.

8 Le Gai Soleil (Bet Now: $2.80) is a talented mare for John O’Shea that is going through her grades nicely. Several weeks between runs since resuming a winner at Warwick Farm, driving hard late to get up and win and landing big bets in the process. Good record at the track and J Mac is 2/2 on her.

11 Bound To Win (Bet Now: $3.30) looks to be in for a really good prep for the Snowden team. Resumed several weeks back over 1200m and she was one of the runs of the meeting, producing an electric finale to just miss out on picking up Liberty Sun. If she’s within range on the turn, she’ll prove very hard to hold out.

17 Napoleon Solo (Bet Now: $34.00) can fill a first four spot at a big price. He ran at the provincials at Hawkesbury last time and I liked the way he finished his race off against the race shape behind Luvoir, who is a proven city performer. If they can run on from the back, he’s a knockout hope.

NEXT BEST: Race Two Number 2 Fashchanel

LONG SHOT: Race Five Number 5 Mr Dependable
