Race 1. (13:03) Tattersall's Membership (Bm78) 2200m
4 I Am The Empire (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks ready to win. Annabel Neasham trains this gelding, who ran over 2000m here two weeks ago where he was ridden with intent by Thornton and was there to win but couldn’t quite finish it off, albeit he was only beaten a lip by Flying Joy. Has run well at 2500m so 2200m here should be fine and I think last start will leave him spot on.
3 Flying Joy (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Matty Kropp trained mare that is flying and should take beating once again. She got a 12/10 by Du Plessis here a fortnight back and the patient ride was the difference between winning and losing, timing the finale to absolute perfection. The way she finished off there, 2200m should be fine, and with a patient steer again, she’s dangerous.
1 Ostermeier (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is dangerous at odds. He comes through the Flying Joy race from two weeks back when back near last in the run and did make up minor headway but was never really threatening behind the Matty Kropp mare. Like him back up in trip and with a more genuine tempo, he can win without surprising.
Race 2. (13:38) Select Fire Plate 1350m
2 Astapor (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks a nice colt for Clinton Taylor. Son of Tassort that debuted at Rockhampton where he was a heavily backed odds on favourite and despite being quite green in the run, he made a mess of them late and gee he let down to win impressively. Had to come to town off that and I don’t think the depth here is overly strong so he commands respect and IMO, he can win.
5 Mishani Ego (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a key threat. She was close up in a couple of career outings but got the win out of the way at the Sunny Coast last time when producing sustained speed from the front and giving nothing else a look in. The race isn’t deep re depth so she commands respect.
1 Mishani Eclipse (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is dangerous if he can use the inside gate to advantage. He ran over 1200m here two weeks back where he got back in the run and while he was never a threat, he did make up ground and was pretty good in defeat. Fast run 1110m will help his cause and if the inside gate can see him settle closer, he’s a knockout hope.
Race 3. (14:13) Tattersall's Functions (Bm68) 1350m
8 Warby (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has found winning form, finally, and I think he can go on with it for Tony Gollan. He’s done a pretty good job since joining the camp, the win coming at Eagle Farm on Cup Day when letting down with purpose late to wear down Jovita for a strong win. He has room for improvement and off that win, confidence is up…rates highly.
6 Thankful Heart (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has done little in his seven start career and is a key chance. He was backed late when racing last Wednesday at this track/distance and the market got it right as he gapped them from on speed and was impressive in the run to the line. Good test here but off that win, I am confident he can measure up.
9 Miss Tambo (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has got a win on the board and she can certainly go on with it. Tony Gollan trains this mare, who won at the track/distance a few weeks back where she got into a lovely spot behind the speed before angling clear and finished best to win and win well. Good test here but confident she can measure up.
Race 4. (14:52) 3Yo Hcp 1350m
2 Trifling (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. Both runs back this time in have come at 1200m, the latest being a fortnight back where she was near last in the run and did make up ground but was never really threatening behind Golden Decade. Her best is more than good enough to be dangerous so don’t dismiss her.
1 Golden Decade (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has found winning form and he can go on with it. The gelding won here two weeks ago and the ride was the difference. First two runs for the prep, he was ridden stone cold with little intent. Maloney was on two weeks ago, he had the horse in the first four, was within striking range and was just too good for them. Off that effort, he’s one of the top contenders here IMO.
5 Black Minto (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should appreciate a rise to 1350m for Les Kelly. He resumed over 1100m on the Gold Coast Poly where he led at a decent enough clip and that early burn just told late in the piece when third to Soo sweet. He has run well at metro level previously and while I doubt he wins, he can pinch a first four spot.
Race 5. (15:32) Weddings @ Tattersall's (Bm78) 1350m
3 Midnight In Tokyo (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has found winning form and she can certainly go on with it. She ran over 1200m here two weeks ago where she looked in awful trouble on the turn but the gaps opened up and class came to the fore as she knuckled down late for a sharp win. She looks to have come back in really good order and third up from a spell, should just about be at peak fitness.
5 April In Augusta (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) will jump on the bunny and prove hard to get past. She is three weeks between runs for Kelly Schweida since leading throughout and proving quite strong to the line at Eagle Farm in a dominant display. Has won at Doomben previously, good racing style and if the track is playing towards leaders, she becomes even more hard to beat.
6 Motomiss (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a sneaky chance for Lindsay Hatch. This mare is four weeks between runs since racing over this track/distance when back, wide, making a sustained run and she kept finding the line in a very strong effort when second to Bitcoin Baby. That was a hard run so the four weeks off I don’t mind. If she has recovered from that, she’ll be around the mark I’m sure.
Race 6. (16:12) The Conservatory At Tatt's-C3 1615m
14 Madame Odette (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks to be in for a good prep and up to the mile, she’ll take beating. She resumed three weeks ago at Eagle Farm over 1300m where she got back off the speed and in a race dominated by those on speed, she was quite good the way she closed off behind all the way winner April In Augusta. Much better set up this time around and she has a touch of class/quality.
1 Cacofonix (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is racing like the rise to the mile will suit. His recent runs have come over 1350m here, the latest being a fortnight back when off the speed and closing nicely, just missing out on the win when a narrow second to Tojaki. That form does look to read pretty well for a race like this.
2 Porky (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is racing in a purple patch for Tony Gollan and rates highly. He won at this track/distance last Wednesday where he was a strong on speed winner. Credit to him, he was there to be beaten but he found plenty under pressure to fend them off and get the win. Bit more depth to this line up but hard to knock the way he’s racing at the moment.
Race 7. (16:48) Eureka Stud Tatt's Classic 1200m
1 Comrade Rosa (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks to be humming for Tony Gollan. She resumed two weeks ago in the Keith Noud here and she arguably should have won. Got back near last and was badly held up before eventually getting clear and rocketed to the line late in the piece behind Extremist. Better for the run under the belt, if she’s within range, she’ll be too good IMO.
2 Extremist (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has the right racing pattern to give herself every chance. She got the 12/10 from Dolan in the Keith Noud and no doubt in my mind that the ride won the race in a pretty strong display. The end of the trip is the slight query for mine, but I think with her racing style, she’ll give herself every chance.
11 Deep Rouge (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks to have returned in super order and should take beating against these. Barry Lockwood trained mare that resumed on Cup Day at Eagle Farm where she lobbed into a beaut spot behind the speed before angling into clear air and gee she let down with a powerful finale to win and win well. She looks to have come back in really good order and should take beating despite the gate.
Race 8. (17:28) Recognition Stakes 1350m
2 Startantes (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should love the rise to 1350m for Rob Heathcoate. This mare ran two weeks ago over 1200m in the Keith Noud where she got back in the run and did make up some headway but was never threatening behind impressive winner Extremist. That was her first run in several weeks so with good room for improvement, she has runs on the board to say she can win this.
1 Scallopini (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a quality sprinter for O’Dea/Hoysted that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since the Stradbroke when outclassed and failing to fire a shot behind Think About It. This looks more his level and I thought his recent trial was a sharp piece of work. He’ll slide across, land on speed and be tough to get past.
4 Irish Songs (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has a good record at around this distance range and his best is good enough to say he’s a sneaky chance. He ran in the Keith Noud two weeks back over 1200m where he got back to near last in the run and did make up solid ground in a decent effort behind Extremist. Gets a much better set up this time around and with a more positive steer, he’s good enough to win.
Race 9. (18:12) Tattersall's Events (Bm85) 1615m
5 Princess Rhaenys (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should prove hard to beat for Tony Gollan. This mare resumed over 1350m here two weeks ago and she was very good late in the piece, closing off with purpose when beaten 3.6L by Tojaki. Gets a great set up here and up in trip, despite being second up, you could almost say this is D-Day for her.
3 Rousseau… (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) what on earth was the run from three weeks ago. He went from looking the winner on the turn to running last on the line, 2.5L from the winner. The vet found nothing so I have no idea why he didn’t finish off like he had done in the previous two runs to start the prep. If he brings those efforts here, he wins, but last start is the concern.
6 Blacklog (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) doesn’t win out of turn but is honest and usually around the mark. He comes through the race mentioned above that Rousseau contested. You can make a case to say he should have won had he not got checked in the straight when building the revs. Going well…can’t back him to win, but a must for exotics.
Race 10. (18:42) Tattersall's Life Members-Bm80 1110m
17 Liquor (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) will jump on the bunny and prove hard to run down. She looked a good thing when racing three weeks ago at Eagle Farm over 1000m where she led throughout and was there to be beaten but she kicked on with purpose and was dominant late. If she can stretch the brilliance out to 1110m, she’s going to take running down.
19 Perfect Mission (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is an improver for Annabel. She was off a long spell when resuming at Eagle Farm three weeks ago. While she was safely held by Liquor, she stuck on and given that was her first run since Jan 15 last year, the run was a huge pass. If there is no second up syndrome, she has runs on the board to command respect.
8 Ralphie (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks to be in for a really good prep for Gary Doughty and is one of the leading contenders. Market was against him when resuming two weeks back here but nobody told him that because he let down with real purpose from off the speed to win impressively in a great return. More upside to come and a good second up record, he appeals.
