Tatts Tiara 🏆: View the Field and Odds for the Tatts Tiara
Race 1. (11:43) Tattersall's Life Members Stks 1400m
6 Right To Party (Bet Now: $SP.00) should prove hard to beat here for Team Freedman. This filly steps up to 1400m after a dominant maiden win over 1200m at Doomben where she sat on speed and was trucking under Maloney before being clicked up in the straight and away she went, drawing clear late to win well. 1400m no issue and with a good racing style, she rates highly.
1 Cap Ferrat (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Chris Waller trained colt who has a decent engine under the hood. He comes through The Phoenix from three weeks back here and was pretty good from the back, working home well enough but couldn’t quite sustain the run when a close up third to Azula. Hard fit now and back to 1400m, he rates highly.
3 Kirikan (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a very nice colt for Chris Waller. He was very raw and new to the caper when debuting over 1200m at Doomben but he was a real eye catcher from the back, closing off with purpose when second to Right To Party. 1400m on the bigger track looks a great set up and better for the run under the belt, he appeals big time.
Race 2. (12:18) Edward Street Brisbane Plate 1200m
1 Ekaterina (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks extremely hard to beat for Rob Heathcoate. She returns to her own age/sex after contesting the Dane Ripper where she got a mile out of her ground but really liked the way she found the line late in the piece behind Comrade Rosa. Prior efforts against her own age have been excellent and provided there is petrol left in the tank, she’s clearly the one to beat.
The end of 1200m has to be the query with 2 Chinny Boom (Bet Now: $SP.00) but in terms of brilliance, she is probably #1 seed. She returns to racing for Clinton Taylor, having not raced since April 22 when down the track in the Mick Dittman behind Lady Laguna. I’d love to see her at 1000m rather than 1200m because the last bit will test, but she’ll look the winner for a long way.
6 Ghaanati (Bet Now: $SP.00) can be an improver here. Three weeks between runs since resuming in the Queensland Day where she had specking at a price but in an on pace domination, she just couldn’t get involved when down the track behind Red Card, who led from the front and gave nothing else a look in. She has the engine under the hood to measure up but I will say she is nearing D-Day.
Race 3. (12:53) Tattersall's Cup 2400m
2 Luncies (Bet Now: $SP.00) is fourth up from a spell so he should just about be at peak fitness and strikes a very winnable race IMO. He has bumped into Caulfield Cup favourite Without A Fight his past two, the latest being two weeks ago in The Q22 when a solid fourth after receiving pretty much every chance. Little while since he has won a race but does strike a very winnable race.
Benaud gets a fair whack (rightfully so) for winning one race…I think it’s time 4 Young Werther (Bet Now: $SP.00) cops something similar. But that said, he has run well in big races and his best is clearly good enough to take this out. He ran in The Q22 last time where he did no work from the gate but just couldn’t get involved behind Without A Fight. That was his second run off a break so he should be hard fit now.
3 Spirit Ridge (Bet Now: $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be ready to go re fitness. He did more than enough fresh behind Bois D’Argent before going to the Winter Cup where it looked like a hint of second up syndrome when down the track behind Al Aabir. He’s got more upside than most and I don’t see 2400m being an issue for him. Rates highly against these.
Race 4. (13:28) Battle Of The Bush 1200m
5 Isis Carmella (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a beauty for Kevin Miller and in a very open race, I think she is the straight bat option. You go back four runs, she ran a beauty behind Starvirgo in The Fitzroy on Archer Day at Rockhampton and has been impressive in three runs since, the latest win being a dominant win over 1200m at Bowen where she was on speed throughout and was strong late in winning. You’d think with scratchings, she gets in well with the barriers, and is a 1200m specialist.
13 Grand Palazzo (Bet Now: $SP.00) has done a super job since joining Toni Schofield. She has won four on the bounce, albeit in races much easier than this, but for the most part, she has been quite dominant, the latest being two weeks ago at Barcaldine, and ran time for the 1200m. Maps to get an ideal run in transit and hard to knock the way she’s racing.
7 Hard Stride (Bet Now: $SP.00) is rising 13 years of age so really, it’s been a remarkable effort that he is still racing at a pretty decent level. He ran over 1100m at Gatton last time when doing work to land on speed and that early burn just told late in the piece behind Jemeldi, who would be odds on in a race like this. Tick over trial last week was strong and Andrew Mallyon, who rode in the trial, sticks here.
Race 5. (14:03) Tattersall's Mile 1600m
This is a very steady blacktype race. In the corner of 4 Finepoint (Bet Now: $SP.00) for Chris Waller. She was down to run in the Tatts Tiara but was too far down the order of entry and didn’t get a run so she goes here. She ran in the Dane Ripper where she got back to near last in the run and failed to make up any real headway behind Comrade Rosa. Fitter and up in trip, back a fair way in depth, he only runs well.
3 Puntura (Bet Now: $SP.00) can run a much improved race. Kiwi raider that has been kept on ice, having not raced since the Spear Chief where not much went right for him when down the track behind Munhamek after getting back in the run. Tick over trial win was strong and up in trip, his best is certainly good enough to take this out.
1 Superstorm… (Bet Now: $SP.00) you’d have to think this is D-Day for him. Good luck to Lauren Abbott on getting him because he is a high class horse, but that was when rainbows were black and white. He was set a task in the Stradbroke first up and ran accordingly, beating one runner home behind Think About It. Back miles in grade/depth, he finds a race where connections can get a guide on what they have got.
Race 6. (14:38) Tatt's Gold Crown 2137m
1 Thalassophile (Bet Now: $SP.00) is flying for Chris Waller and rates as one of the leading contenders. Three weeks between runs since contesting the Magic Millions National Classic over the mile here against the Mares and I thought she found the line with real purpose from the back when third to Foxy Frida. Has the potential to settle much closer in the run and still be effective late.
4 Princess Rhaenys (Bet Now: $SP.00) has won at 2000m previously and with all three runs at the mile this prep, I think a rise in trip is a positive. She ran behind Foxy Frida three weeks back and on face value, I thought she was a tad plain but IMO they rode just a fraction too warm. Back to a more patient ride, a bunny to chase, save her for one run, she can win.
5 Lekvarte (Bet Now: $SP.00) is somewhat unknown at 2100m but she is racing like she will be fine at it. She ran over the mile at Randwick two weeks ago where she took a little while to wind into her work but once she got clear and balanced up, I thought she found the line quite well when third to impressive Ita. Off that effort, an extra rise in trip should be fine and rates as one of the hardest to beat.
Race 7. (15:17) Tattersall's Tiara 1400m
I think it’ll be a case of good luck beating 16 Opal Ridge (Bet Now: $SP.00). Should have won the Dane Ripper two weeks ago but unfortunately she got caught wide no cover for the trip and that sealed her fate in winning. Credit to her, she kept finding the line and only just missed out on picking up Comrade Rosa. I think she’ll put this Group l away and confirm her spot for The Everest.
5 Chain Of Lightning (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a ripping mare for Peter Moody. Ran a beauty behind Ruthless Dame in the Sangster at Morphettville before going to the Stradbroke where she was massive in defeat from the wide gate, sitting wide no cover for the trip and sticking on very well in defeat behind Think About It. If there is petrol left in the tank, she rates highly, clearly.
6 Roots (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks like she has been set for the race and a truly run 1400m should be right up her alley. She resumed two weeks back in the Dane Ripper where J Mac rode her cold and I thought she found the line quite well late without threatening behind Comrade Rosa. Has the potential to settle much closer and still be effective late.
Race 8. (15:53) W.J. Healy Stakes 1200m
4 Quantico (Bet Now: $SP.00) is too good of a horse to pen off one run. I was really keen on his chances in the Moreton Cup three weeks ago but after receiving every chance, he just didn’t finish the race off at all and on face value, he was poor, but Prince Of Boom did lead comfortably and gave nothing else a look in, so be a bit forgiving. Truly run race here, he’ll get his chance IMO.
2 Prince Of Boom (Bet Now: $SP.00) commands respect. Rob Heathcoate trained gelding that is several weeks between runs since a dominant all the way win in the Moreton Cup where he got complete control under Clark and gave nothing else a look in to win comfortably. Wide gate, but he’ll press forward again and take running down.
5 Ranges (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a knockout hope for Team Snowden. I dare say he has eyes on defending his title in the Ramornie from last year. He ran two weeks back in the Hinkler and did a good job after covering ground out wide and found the line well enough behind King Kapa. Great record at the Eagle Farm 1200m and is a must include for exotics.
Race 9. (16:37) Impressu Print Group (Rs0mw) 1200m
5 Swiss Exile (Bet Now: $SP.00) is the straight bat option in the get out. Annabel Neasham trains this three year old, that is on the seven day back up after racing over 1350m last Saturday at Ipswich in a strong 3YO race where he was hailed as the winner when he loomed but couldn’t quite get the job done when bloused late by Chairman. Like him back to 1200m and with luck from a tricky gate, he’s clearly the one to beat.
4 Kinloch (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a son of I Am Invincible for Kris Lees that resumes. He had a three run Autumn prep where he failed to fire each time, the latest coming at Randwick on April 15 when down the track behind Democracy Manifest. Given a break, has had two trials under the belt to prepare and with his absolute best, he is good enough to measure up.
2 Stampe (Bet Now: $SP.00) is one I can entertain for wider multiples. He resumed several weeks ago in an open sprint at Lismore where he just looked in need of the run with the big weight when down the track behind Two Ya Got. Tick over trial win was a solid piece of work and with the claim for Lewis, he is in well at the weights.
