Nine races will be run and won at Belmont on Saturday for Rogan Josh Stakes Day. The weather is fine, the track is soft (6) and the rail is out two metres for the entire circuit.

Tricky race for the juveniles. Leaning the way of 6 Top Of The Walk (Bet Now:  $SP.00), who is on debut for Colin Webster. He has been seen at the trials, winning both over 400m here, and each time what I have liked is that when he has been asked for an effort, he has responded and with purpose. Gate one is a big tick, so he can hold a forward spot and prove hard to beat.

1 A Lot Of Good Men (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the class of the field and that will carry him a long way towards victory. He resumes for Trevor Andrews, having not raced since Feb 18 when a solid fourth in the WA Magic Millions behind Super Smink, who is alongside Brave Halo as the best juvenile in WA, so that form clearly reads well for an off season 2YO race here, and with a strong Lark Hill trial under the belt, I think he’s ready to go.

7 Guarding Heaven (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a daughter of Safeguard that resumes for Dan Morton. Her last run was in the WA Magic Millions where she got a mile out of her ground but loved the way she found the line behind Super Smink. She trialled behind A Lot Of Good Men at Lark Hill and wasn’t too bad to my eye. Likely concedes a start but will be strong at the end.

7 Differentiator (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has returned in super order for Summer Dickson and should take beating against these. She won a race similar to this two weeks ago over 1400m where she gave them a start and a beating under Pike, launching late to finish over the top and win impressively. Has placed at the track/distance previously and Pike sticking, happy to be in her corner.

4 Outspoken Lad (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. He ran fourth in the Differentiator race mentioned above from a fortnight back. He was near the speed throughout under CJP and tried his guts out but in the conditions, he couldn’t pick his feet up late in the piece when fourth. Hard fit now, and I reckon with a more patient steer, he can run an improved race.

8 Rulelee (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a daughter of Universal Ruler that resumes for Susan Olive. This girl hasn’t been seen since Feb 25 over 1400m at Ascot when producing an end of prep run when down the track behind Romancing The Rock. She can sprint well om the fresh side and does tend to save her best for Belmont so despite no trial, I think she commands some level of respect.

7 Vogue’s Choice (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks one of the straight bat options in an even race. Hayden Ballantyne trained mare that resumed over 1000m here three weeks ago where she got the run of the race near the speed and presented to win the race but couldn’t quite finish it off when third to Ultimate Command. Lobs into a beaut spot once again and with upside, she appeals.

4 Henry The Aviator (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a son of Magnus that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since Australia Day over 1400m here when a close up second to Thorogood in a tidy effort after getting a touch held up in the straight. Trialled well leading in and despite drawing tricky, Paul Harvey booked signals some level of intent.

8 Rulelee (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a daughter of Universal Ruler that resumes for Susan Olive. 10 Forever Classic (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has always shown promise throughout her five start career and off the first up win, I think this will be a fruitful prep for her. She resumed over 1200m here just over three weeks ago at the midweeks where she got the dream run in transit behind the speed before getting splits and she went through her gears like a nice horse to win impressively. 1400m should be find and strikes a winnable race.

Fitter and up to 1400m are two big ticks for 5 Planet Cash (Bet Now:  $SP.00). He resumed over 1200m here a fortnight back and he was one of the eye catchers of the meeting, closing off with real purpose late in the piece when second to the in form Universal Flair. Has the potential to settle much closer in the run and up in trip, I think he only runs well.

9 Californication (Bet Now:  $SP.00) deserves a crack in town. Paul Rowe has a nice horse on his hands here and is looking to make it three wins on the bounce, with the two previous wins coming over 1400m at Kalgoorlie where each time he has settled off the speed and finished off with purpose to win. Should get into a lovely spot from the gate and has the 1400m lead ins under the belt.

It’s hard to get away from 3 Fear The Wind (Bet Now:  $SP.00). Team Pearce has this bloke absolutely flying at the moment, winning four om the bounce and confident he makes it five here. Latest win was three weeks ago at this track/distance where he looked a moral on paper and under Pike, he duly saluted and won quite impressively with something in hand. This race isn’t deep, so he only has to hold his form to be winning again.

8 Queen Alina (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the key and I think only threat. She was second up and jumping to 2000m from 1400m in the Strickland a fortnight back where she wasn’t suited at all by the race shape but I liked the way she found the line late when a close up fourth to Last Of The Line. Has more upside than most, can settle closer in the run and has a touch of quality about her.

2 Divine Shadow (Bet Now:  $SP.00) might want one more run but with enormous upside and a lack of depth, he is a first four contender. He resumed last Saturday over the mile here where he was back near last in a barrier trial really, and just couldn’t get involved, failing to beat a runner home behind surprise all the way winner Position Of Power. Not sure he wins, but a must for exotics.

7 Ruby Noir (Bet Now:  $SP.00) isn’t racing too bad for Lucy Fiore and Pike back on, I think this mare commands respect. She ran two weeks back here on testing ground and made up solid headway without threatening behind Ihts Closing Inn, beaten 11 lengths in a race where they were quite spread out due to the track. Firmer deck here, you’d assume, Pike back on, she can bounce back.

6 His Eminence (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is racing so consistently for Colin Webster but just can’t quite crack it for a win. He ran last Thursday at Northam over this trip where he had a good run in transit behind the speed and presented to win the race but just found one better in Riding Hood Fame. Bursting to win a race and I think he finds a race here with little depth.

10 Galarian (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is racing in a purple patch for Sharon Miller and in a very open race, I am in his corner. He has either won or placed his past four, placing two back at this track/distance before going to Northam last Thursday when wide with cover before angling into clear air out wide and found the line well enough when a narrow second to Forlane. I reckon with a more conservative steer, a bunny to chase, he’ll be more effective.

11 Sisu Warrior (Bet Now:  $SP.00) on top. Team Williams trained three year old that comes to town off the back of a win over this trip at Pinjarra where he lobbed into a beaut spot near the speed under Pike in a slowly run race so that probably flattered the sharp late splits, to an extent, but the win still had good merit, and with upside, confident he measures up.

4 Advanced (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is knocking on the door to win for Hayden Ballantyne. He is a tick under three weeks between runs since racing over the mile at Northam where he got back in the run before tracking up and presented to win the race but just found one better in Mojo Rhythm. Like him back to 1400m and hopefully the track won’t be too rain affected.

3 Pat’s Got Sass (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is bursting to win a race. Just looked in need of the run fresh behind Catalpa before racing here again two weeks back when on speed and giving a really good kick but couldn’t hold out the finale of Probity. Hard fit now and with a good run on speed potentially on the cards, I think she has to be respected.

10 Ultimate Command (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should love getting back to 1000m. She is on the seven day back up after racing last Saturday over 1200m here when on speed throughout and tried her guts out but couldn’t quite see it through behind Desert Vixen. She is a short course animal IMO so back to 1000m is a big tick, lands on speed and will be hard to run down.

9 Sneaky Chance (Bet Now:  $SP.00), I think, is back on track. Trevor Andrews trained mare that ran over this track/distance three weeks back where I was keen on her running well at odds and that she did, but she couldn’t quite get there when fourth to Ghost Who Walks. Think if she can improve somewhat off that leading into this, she’ll be around the mark I’m sure.

7 My Dilemma (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a daughter of My Admiration that resumes for David Harrison. This girl is first up, having not raced since Jan 7 when letting down with purpose from the back to win over 1200m. Not a noted fresh horse and no trial so the signs are there that she’ll need the run, but if they overdo it in front, look for her to launch late.

8 Top Of The Pops (Bet Now:  $SP.00) up to 1300m…D-Day. Contender or pretender time. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but I shouldn’t have been with him two weeks ago over 1000m here given he was eight weeks between runs and was back in trip, a distance short of his best, and he only got very warm late in the piece. Gets a much better set up this time around…it’s either a win or lifetime ban.

5 Featherweight (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is another in this race that is getting close to D-Day. Three weeks between runs since racing over 1200m here where he got back in the run and made up some headway without threatening behind Rokanori, beaten two lengths. The depth here, as a whole, isn’t as strong, and if he can settle closer, he’ll be dangerous.

4 Bumper Blast (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a knockout chance at odds. He ran in the Rokanori race from three weeks back here mentioned above. He got back to near last in the run and while he was never a winning threat, I really liked the way he found the line late in the piece. Might want one more run, but off last start, I think he’s certainly in with a shout.

LONG SHOT: Race Eight Number 10 Ultimate Command
