Saturday racing in Queensland will focus in on the Sunshine Coast for a great program leading up to the Carnival. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out two metres for the entire circuit.

Race One (12:08) : IGA Sunshine Coast Handicap (75) 2200m:
Back Me: 2 Kaiser Franz (Best Odds: $3.20) got a well deserved win on the board last time out at Doomben, aided by a ripping ride from D Browne. This doesn’t look overly harder, Browne sticks and should take some beating.
Big Danger: 3 Lord Coconuts (Best Odds: $4.80) ran fourth in that race above and he closed off well from near last in the run. The big tick for him is getting onto a bigger track and getting out to 2200m. I can see him being a real threat.
Roughie: 10 Flitero (Best Odds: $11.00) was smashed in betting last time out at Murwillumbah and he justified the support of the punters with a strong staying win. 2200m will be no issue, he tumbles in weight and will do no work from the gate.

Race Two (12:43) : IGA Sunshine Coast Handicap (1MW) 1400m:
Back Me: 1 Deconstructed (Best Odds: $4.60) was completely unwanted in betting last time out and though he didn’t win, I thought his effort was very good. He is fourth up now, so he should be ready to show his best and looms as the one to beat.
Big Danger: 4 Elegant Composure (Best Odds: $3.40) is unbeaten in five career outings for Chris Anderson, the latest coming over 1350m at Doomben a fortnight back. Toughest test to date here, but it’s hard to knock a mare that has a picket fence next to her name.
Roughie: 10 Promas (Best Odds: $8.00) has been given a month freshen up since running over the Doomben mile where she ran a close up third to Reckless Abandon, who won again to frank the form. Back to 1400m is no issue, soft gate…definite threat.

Race Three (13:18) : Rent 2 Own Cars Australia Handicap 1000m:
Back Me: 7 Dreams Aplenty (Best Odds: $6.00) debuted over this track/distance a tick under three weeks back and he was just very very impressive in sitting on speed and bolting up. Stable rider aboard and only has to overcome the tricky gate to be the one to beat.
Big Danger: 3 Oink (Best Odds: $4.00) ran at Doomben a fortnight back and despite some difficulties, the son of Sebring finished best in a close up finish and survived a protest in the process. Has the fitness edge and draws to get the run of the race
Roughie: 13 Greyt Start (Best Odds: $12.00) is a very smart filly that bolted up on debut in the Spring on her home track at Toowoomba before resuming and running at Doomben during the Summer and was disappointing behind Dieters. No trials, but the blinkers are on and Jimmy Orman rides. $15 is overs.

Race Four (13:53): IGA Sunshine Coast Handicap (Class 6) 1000m:
Back Me: 9 Sammi Jain (Best Odds: $7.50) resumed over 1110m at Doomben and tried very hard but she just couldn’t quite reel in Glenbawn Dame, who will be a winning chance at Rosehill. Fitter now, draws well and isn’t badly weighted.
Big Danger: 3 Londehero (Best Odds: $9.50) is a talented horse that resumes for Matty Dunn. He hasn’t raced since running midfield at Doomben behind Heza Bobby Dazzler back in mid December. He looked pretty good in a recent trial on his home track at Murwillumbah and the stable is just absolutely flying at the moment.
Roughie: 1 I Am Boss (Best Odds: $11.00) was a strong winner two back at Doomben before racing there again a month back when fifth to Another Whiskey. Freshened up, soft gate and despite carrying topweight, I think he is a leading chance.

Race Five (14:28) : Lion Diary And Drinks Princess Stakes 1600m:
Back Me: 2 Queen Of Wands (Best Odds: $2.60) looks the way to go here. This filly strung together two on the trot in impressive before running a game third to He’s Our Rokkii in the Carbine Club (1600m) at Randwick, and that horse went on to win last weekend, so the form reads well, and this filly now drops back to her own age and sex at set weights…looks so well placed.
Big Danger: 5 Kebede (Best Odds: $4.40) is in ripping form at the moment for Matty Dunn, stringing together three on the trot who has won three on the bounce, the latest coming over 1350 at Doomben a fortnight back and she was strong through the line on that occasion, so the step up to the mile will be no issue and stable is low flying.
Roughie: 12 Subsolar (Best Odds: $18.00) ran over 1800m two back at the Gold Coast before stepping back to the 1350m at Doomben and working home strongly from the back behind Kebede. The step up to the mile and back onto a bigger track are the two big ticks and there is just enormous upside with this daughter of Pendragon.

Race Six (15:07) : Montrose Therapy & Respite Services Tails Stakes 1600m:
Back Me: It’s hard to see anything other than a win for 1 Sir Moments (Best Odds: $2.70). He was disappointing two back but bounced back to his brilliant best over 1350m at Doomben, sitting last in the run before peeling out and just winning in quite arrogant fashion. Up to the mile is no issue, he can carry the weight and really only bad luck will beat him.
Big Danger: 3 Lock’s Legend (Best Odds: $5.50) ran over the mile at Doomben three weeks back and loomed to win the race but just couldn’t quite go on with the race when running a close up third to My Quilter, beaten two lengths. The runner up, Honey Toast, bolted up in the Toowoomba Cup last weekend, so the form reads well and back onto a bigger track will be ideal.
Roughie: 11 Kurtley (Best Odds: $34.00) is a former Leon Davies runner that is now under the care of Steven O’Dea. This horse ran behind stablemate Sir Moments and was just plain I thought. Now he is under the care of O’Dea, a new environment…he might show sharp improvement? Who knows. Watch the market, but on his day, he is very good.

Race Seven (15:47) : IGA Sunshine Coast Ascot Handicap 1200m:
Back Me: 3 Worthy Cause (Best Odds: $4.80) is a very good horse trained by John Zielke that resumes after a solid Spring/Summer, which ended with a fourth to Tinto in the Magic Millions Trophy (1800m) at the Gold Coast. Bolted up in a trial on the Cushion track here, he flies fresh and will take a power of beating here.
Big Danger: 6 Jessy Belle (Best Odds: $3.70) looks well placed in this grade and if she can run up to her best she will be winning this however her runs this preparation have been a tad disappointing despite not being too far off them. Looks the main danger.
Roughie: 12 Desert General (Best Odds: $12.00) has a perfect record at the course and distance and despite this being a tougher task than the two wins he must be included at the price. Still has improvement in him and looks like he will go close at the price.

Race Eight (16:27) : IGA Sunshine Coast Mick Dittman Plate 1000m:
Back Me: 2 Big Tree (Best Odds: $7.00) got a well deserved win on the board five weeks back at Doomben, aided by a brilliant steer from Brad Stewart from a wide gate. Draws a much better gate here, fresh and he will be strong at the end of 1000m.
Big Danger: 12 Blue Desert Moon (Best Odds: $3.60) is a very nippy filly for Tony Sears who won four from four during the Winter/Spring. No trials leading in, but she’ll lead these comfortably and give them something to think about.
Roughie: 17 Aimalac Millie (Best Odds: $31.00) represents great value for mine at $26. She is a very talented filly that resumes here off the back of no trials, but she will be very strong late and draws to be not far away.
